Fuck quiet zones. I mean year he should have not gone around the crossing gates but eliminating train horns is not good. It actually says IM COMING!! DON'T GO ANYWHERE!! Fuck you whiny people.
He was just plain stupid I think and paid the price. There are always some people like that at crossings. He didn't need to be blinded by the sun or taken ill to hit the side of the first car.
hate to say it but it gives me an interesting idea for a film about seemingly random accidents involving a train. the film opens in the beginning of an investigation into an accident, the operator at the time and the machine itself when the investigator starts noticing strange coincidences, like theres been alot more than one accident involving the same train and operator.. is it the train or the conductor? in a chilling climax your wildest dreams couldnt imagine you'll find out - all aboard!.
Just think of how mangled a body has to become to have the authorities NOT be able to identify the driver of the truck as a male – or a female?! They still don't know the gender of that body...
Warning signs or not, I always slow down and listen and see if anything is coming,
I've seen to many times signals at crossing malfunctioning to trust them working or not, But the respect I have for trains makes me do this even they are working.
Some people are to stupid too get this whole Train VS Car thing.....
My guess here from looking at that truck and the train it hit, he had to have been traveling a pretty good speed to mangal it up like.

@robertgift Yeah ... I've had problems with sun glare before, but I've never been so blinded that I couldn't see a 2-storey high train... If it was that bad, it would have been cause for "dead slow" progress.
The sun in ABQ/Rio Rancho is terrible when it's setting/rising... it wouldn't surprise me if he was just blinded by the sun. But still... you could hear the dingdingding and everything... Rail Runner doesn't deserve this kind of bad publicity =( I ♥ Rail Runnerr

@TahreyUK On a Septemember 21st., I was driving an ambulance, routine, westbound at sunset.
Knew thathe sun would blind me as I crested a small hill.
Turned on 4-way-flashers and slowed to a crawl because I would not be able to see ahead far enough.
Someone passed me athe speed limit, assuming thathe street in front of them was clear. It was.
Worst sun-blindness I ever experienced.
