  • i no u guys were trying to help but im affraid u probly killed that cow by pulling like you did if you had just pulled the other leg out so it was like the other one it would of just come out the you probly ruptured her cervix or sprained her pelvic bones you cant pull them with a pick up thats rediculus and you should of pulled on both legs at the same time not the head im a farmer my self so in how hard it can be well done for trying though.

  • Holy jeez is that a big calf. We have had to put a cow down during the birthing process. Major loss.

  • Aw, what a sweet beautiful cow. I'm glad you guys helped her. She look like such a sweetheart

  • MAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUCH!

  • Did the mother survive?

  • why are they not wearing gloves????

  • omg poor cow! :/

  • Why am I watching this?

  • I dunno but I am too.

    Why.......?

  • you should know

  • At the end of the video, the calf looks deformed. I'm assuming that's why it was stuck. Sure, that's not the ideal way to pull a calf, but given the circumstances, you did what you could with the resources available. That's better than leaving the cow for dead.

  • I might add, even though the cow had to be euthanized in the end, trying to save her was better than leaving her to die what was sure to be a prolonged and agonal death. You know as well as I do that YouTube is full of idiots. You did the right thing.

  • Why did they euthanize the cow at the end?

  • DID THE MAMA LIVE

  • dud did the calft die?

  • Well.. first of all- rule #one- NEVER use a winch, truck, horse, etc to pull a calf!! However, in saying that- I was raised on a cattle ranch and am in vet school right now- food animal medicine- and that cow was probably going to die anyways- no doubt she had obturator nerve paralysis which is why she couldn't get up. She was in shock and you guys may have tore her uterus when you pulled that calf with the truck.. but awesome try...

  • omg that waz weird

  • Like with any animals on a ranch. Some make it some don't..If you look at the body at the end. The legs were not positioned the way the should have been. So, it was inevitable the calf was going to die. Kudos to the HUNTERS on a RANCH for helping a fellow creature. For those who are annoyed. Grow up. You obviously have NEVER worked on a TRUE ranch. To the guys who did the unthinkable good work. Uh, no piano wire in the sticks, and there are mounts called RANCH HANDS for episodes such as this..

  • did the mum live

  • that was crazy

  • Comment removed

  • the calf is dead also they said in the biggening ...what a poor little thing ... she was crying ... why everybody is not thinking to call the police or for help or even to press on her stomach

  • so did the mom survive?

    or both animals died?

  • How sad, at least someone was there, i presume they new the owner so why didn,t they contact him? You could have used some oil or even the cows milk to lube up the area, and remember get the legs out as the were caught on the pelvis, make sure they are near enough the same length with the head above after the cow should haqve had some calcium and magnesium and antibiotic, but as others have said these things happen - well done for trying.

  • ...smartass....

  • Wot do know eh - jack i,ll bet!!

  • might i add that i don't remember typing that comment, there-fore, someone i know will pay heavily for it

  • Wow! What an incredible video! The biggest problem was that her membranes were dried out. Otherwise with not nearly that much coaxing, that calf would have come out. Thats a problem with first time mama's being range cows. They instinctively want to hide. Nice try guys. Great effort to save her.

  • pulling a calf this way you could have hurt he cow! Sretched it's spine. Go to a dairy farm and learn how to handle hour cows right!

  • The calf was already dead inside of the cow! What do u know about birthing cows anyways!!! Some people just don't have the intelligence to read the description.

  • these guys need to learn how to pull a calf right!OMG!

  • poor cow... but you are heroes :) you save her life:) i like you guys...

  • what a bunch of neanderthals! i know the calf was dead, why not use piano wire to cut it out? would have been less stressful for the cow, only looks young too, 2nd calver is my guess.

  • Just wrapping up calving season myself, I was wondering. How long did it take for the cow to get up or did she at all? I have had them both ways, but that calf was huge! I gave one hefer dexameth and banamine when shen was down, and about 6 hours later she was up walking a little, preety stiff for a week though. 3 weeks later she is fine. Don't let these other knot-heads get you pissed off. They just don't understand.

  • i know what u mean, but yeah she stayed down 5 hours after we left the ranch then checked the next day 8 hours later still down .she eventually was to weak and hurt and had to have put down . we gave water and cleaned her up but nothing helped.yeah your right though big calf !!!hahah!

  • shut up hunnipiesugarplum and ruby1955. The calf was dead, and if it remained there the mom would have died. HE DID NOT STRANGLE THE CALF!

  • What !!!!!the mom was gonna die if we didnt get the calf out the calf was already dead the mom ran away from heard and tryed to give birth but coulnt we got the calf out quickly, the vet would just have had to operate to save the mom and get the calf out thats what we did to save it andit worked. get the facts!

  • The calf was already dead u moron

but they did stress out the mother

  • The calf was already dead, probably while in utero. They didn't kill it. What they were trying to do (and you'd know this if you'd listened carefully to the audio) was get it out as quickly as possible to try and save the mother. She was obviously in major distress, her membranes were dried out (which meant she couldn't get the calf out by herself), and probably too weak to push any more. They did what they HAD to in order to try and save the mom. Sometimes the vet just won't make it in time.

  • First of all, YOU DO NOT PULL A CALF WITH A VEHICLE, HOW STUPID!!!!! EVEN A VET WOULD NOT EVEN SUGGEST THAT. JUST DUMBASSES!!!!! OH AND WHEN YOU PULL A CALF, YOU NEED TO PULL DOWN, NOT STRAIGHT OUT, HOW STUPID. PEOPLE LIKE THIS JUST MAKE ME SO MAD!!!!! I GUESS THAT THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR ANIMALS!!!!

  • what your wrong
