@2migell I think someone should know all the bad features about the camera before they buy. Because the good is obvious. Beautiful pictures, amazing control, and just a wonderful camera that looks like the movies. I highly recommend it.
It you're looking for budget and you have the computing power, there is a Panasonic for 300 that you can hack to produce video that rivals DSLR vid of the Canon 60D and 7D. just google panasonic hack.
That's true experimental filmmaking. Are you related to Andy Warhol? Still, it shows that people are riveting to watch. Must be the voyeur in us.
And, I too have a friend who hates the Beatles. I would be happy if he could just appreciate how they transformed popular music for every consecutive generation since. But I guess you had to be there...
@kingdomofchrissmith Warhol!? I'll take it! Thanks! hahaha. He is one of my favorite artists. And, to be fair some people hate Warhol too! Yeah if I was in the time period it may have been different. I remember my parents, and music teachers always playing The Beatles. And I could never stand it. hahaha For some reason it was a really strong aversion towards them. I mean ridiculously strong. But some feel that way about Warhol's soup cans.
@TheFaustianMan Personally, I love the Beatles, and their individual projects as well. But that's what's great about life. Everyone's different. We don't all have to like the same thing. That's why this world is full of variety. As I was growing up, I didn't know one person who liked anything Japanese. Now, through the internet, the world has come to me! Viva la difference!
@kingdomofchrissmith I love Canons - I come from a "Canon family". Not too crazy about Sony. Actually the pro end Sony PDWF800 didn't look any better than the HV40. That's what a cameraman family member said when he saw the HV40 footage. And he is a die hard Sony camera user. I was expecting to be blown away by the PDWF800 because the price is about $38,000 but wasn't. Sony has an excellent image stabilizer though.
Love the HV40, I don't even know how to use it "correctly" yet. I am bad w/cams
@TheFaustianMan I tend to use whatever camera fits the bill. I had a Sony VX1000 as my workhorse for years until it fell off the back of a truck. Then I had two small 3 chip Panasonics as I traveled the country doing a DVD magazine on magicians. Now I've got the HV30's to to high definition stuff. And I'm looking at the new small 3D HD Sony camera that comes out later this year for some projects. I like using the HV30 in Cine mode with Vivid for image effect and 30p. Looks nice...
@kingdomofchrissmith Yikes! Well, it was real close between this camera and the HDR-Xr550v. Sony has that nice sky blue. And a really good low light thing. I still might get that one as a back up. I don't know much about Panasonics, the only think I know is:
watch?v=cfsBayX7_jo
Sony imag stab is really good. And I don't know how to hold the cam correctly, I go too fast, and shake. Too bad, I have a ton of unusable footage I shot. Scary, I do better in front of the camera than behind it.
Haha!!! I hate The Beatles too :/ You're the first person I've seen say it... Its like saying Jesus never lived at time!!! *High Fives* Oh and cool videos mate :)
is it a good camera to use? and to film?
Im thinking to buy it
but I dont now
thanks

@2migell It is a great camera! I have no regrets. But you should know a few things:
1. It shoots native 24p, the only difference btw this and the HV30 is the you need to remove pulldown manually HV30.
2. It uses firewire to capture, it uses DV/hdv tapes.
3. the microphone is really sensitive and picks up the tape motor. Hence, ever video on here gets rid of the sound and puts music in. get rode mic
4. image stabilization isn't that good.
However, the thing rivals other cameras 10x the cost.

@TheFaustianMan Plus, I keep forgetting to tell you that I use the HV30. I think for their size, they capture pretty good video.
