I have a CX3, and mine is NOWHERE near as stable as this one. Maybe I just have a bad one, not sure, but I constantly have to fight it to keep control of it. I am going to try to replace some of the parts to see if that will help. Even after adjustments, I still have the toilet bowl effect. Never a stable hover. Maybe someone with more experiance can give me some ideas.
when the heli swirls around in the "toilet bowl effect" its a trim problem. the heli isn't trimmed correctly and the flybar will try to correct the movement, however the flybar tends to over-correct. that swings the heli in the other direction. then, they flybar will over-correct the over-correction... and so on. experiment with different trim settings, and you should be able to find a spot where it hovers right. also make sure your rotor is balanced and the weight distribution is even on it.
I was THIS close to giving up, but got the CX3. Indoors or out, this is a great heli. Just stock up on some blades. It will survive some crashes, unlike the 450's that turn back into kits.
If you want to get into RC helicopters, I doubt you'll find an easier and more stable machine.
ehh get the CX2 its cheaper and the exact same thing except for the body..and even then you can put the body on the CX2..i have both and they both are exactly the same so if you want to save some money get the cx2...
check the linkages to the swashplate from the servos and adjust them to make the swashplate as level as possible. if that doesnt work, then be sure that your sub trim on your radio is set to 0
I have this little/big bird. It's funny...it's too big to really fly indoors, but too light for outside on other than calm days. I replaced the swash plate for the aluminum upgrade because the plastic one broke on a hard landing/crash. It's a nice helicopter. Just upgrade some of the plastic parts for aluminum.
well, i think that the ideal place to fly it indoors would be at a gym or something. you're right, that it is too big to fly inside your house. but thats a good idea to replace some of the parts with aluminum upgrades. these are quite durable, however they are still plastic and carbon fiber. so the first hard crash is bound to break something. thanks for the comment!
Im kinda of new to rc heli, and im used to a 3 channel micro heli, so I was looking to see if you had any ideas on a nice 4 ch fp single rotor, because idk what to look for for quality, any answers are greatly appreciated
get an esky honeybee fp. its a nice little thing to start out on if you are going into single rotor helis. its very cheap and it can teach you the basics of helicopter flying. however, if you want to learn the basics, i really recommend getting a 4 channel coaxial heli like the blade mcx, cx2, or cx3. they are very stable and easy to fly
Thank you for the response! but what I was thinking about was waiting for the honeybee fp V2, which is "supposadly" coming out soon. If you have any advice, or know any retailers supporting the product, if you could just reply it back to this comment, that would be great !! As I said b4, comments are greatly appreciated
im not sure about the honeybee fp v2, i looked for it but i couldnt find anything about it. but i still think that you should get a coaxial 4 channel helicopter. the blade mcx rtf is a great example. its very very easy to fly and a great way to start the hobby. and its so small that you could fly it in your living room and easily be able to do some good flying with it.
I've seen vids on it.. but i can't happen to find anything either. I understand what you're saying about the coaxial heli's, but I have a little bit of experience with coaxial helis, and micro 4 ch's. I was looking for a good heli for outside, bigger than a micro, such as the blades. I appreciate the comments btw!
a fp heli will act similarly to a coaxial 4 channel heli. if you really do have experience with 4 channel helis, then i would recomend that you actually get a cp heli such as the esky belt cp. they are 6 channel, and still in a good price range. it will teach you a lot more about heli flying, and once you learn how to use it, you can even start 3D with it! so it all really depends on how comfortable with helis you really are, and whether you are willing to risk a larger investment.
ive got a cx2 but looking for a decent helicopter to move onto. i also have a twister hawk but thats been out of action for ages, and now i want a better chopper. maybe this is the answer.............
if you think you are up to it, i strongly recommend that you get a single rotor heli. maybe just a small fp (fixed pitch) one just to get the hang of it. then, you can get much better helis, such as the trex 500
i am scared of trex 500's. cos 1 of my stepdads mates nearly took my arm and 4 others legs off when he crashed it into the boot of his own car! but then yeah, might get a century or a BAE hawk plane. depends
as long as you know what you are doing, then the trex 500 shouldnt do you any harm at all. the risk is constant in every single model aircraft. its part of the hobby you know
This is a very common problem. It has to do with the helicopter's trim. What happens is that the helicopter is trying to drift in one direction, then the flybar on the helicopter will correct it. But it is an over-correction. Then, the helicopter will drift in the opposite direction, and the flylbar will over correct that... it goes on. All you need to do is experiment with the trim, and you will find a spot where it will stop moving around. Hope that helped!
the best indoor heli in my opinion is the Blade MCX but i have been hearing a lot of good reviews on this one as well. this heli is designed to be easy, stable, and forgiving. so i think you should go ahead and buy it!
lets start by saying....i have over 6 years hobby rc experience and am currently a manager at tracys local hobby store.. i have had a huge variety of heli's... the cx3 is excellent... if you cant learn to fly it... then quit now, THERE IS NO EASIER HELI! (except the mcx)
the mcx on the other hand is NOT flimsy or weak by any means. It is the the most stable heli i have ever flown in my entire life...ITS WORTH WAY MORE THAN 130.. and is THE TOUGHEST heli on the market... i should know...
i made a cheap mod for help bad landings take to nerf darts and razor blade slit each end and take of the skids and slide on it works great try it also helps for not scraping wood work
As a matter of fact I worked right through the manual and everything worked as eflite said it should as far as I could see. The servos all worked in the direction I was instructed to look for. However I'm not familiar with swash plates etc because I'm a beginner that's why I bought a beginners fly out of the box type heli. Until I and many more beginners become more familiar with the intracacies of heli parts we need to rely on the manufacturers claims of "Fly right out of the box".
Took my cx3 back to the hobby shop and they immediately found knew of the problem. Apparently the upper and lower swashplate had come apart. They have had many cx3 's with this problem. Poor assembly on the manufacturers part. Now my cx3 flies likes it is advertised to fly.
well its a new product and Eflite is pretty much experimenting with it. but doesn't it say in the manual to look over the heli and test everything? ;) just kidding at least you have it working well now
the CX3 is basically the MCX but larger and different color scheme. eflite used all of the same technology from the CX2 and MCX and formed it into this one. you can expect it to be very stable
i just picked one up today, and i think ill like it better than my mcx...i havnt been able to fly my blade 400 since its been so windy lately.......i like the cx3 better perhaps cause its so much bigger than the mcx. size matters .....the mcx looks like it should cost 50 bucks at most. its fun dont get me wrong, i just think ill fly this more than my mcx in the long run
the cx3 is a pain in the butt to get trought all the hardware you have to take off the hole canopy and the lock gyro? dint see the difrence. stick with your cx2 it the same dam heli. i have the cx2 now for 7 month great heli jumping on blade 400 in march couple hour on sim so far
i still cant understand how to mcx is 100 bucks....its so flimsy...for a few bucks more u can get this one and battery times are longer by a lil more than double.....and comes with an ac charger unlike the mcx which uses batteries to charge.
I have a mCX and the CX2 and I prefer the mCX for Indoor flying, since it can use more space due ot it's size, it's less noisy (ask my wife), it's less dangerous and the manoeuvrability is just about the same
I have the CX2 and it is pretty decent. There are a few parts that are a must to upgrade immediately, like crash skids and an aluminum swashplate assembly. And put a blanket over your plasma TV just to be safe!

So it's is the same size of mcx or the cx2. If something broke we can you part of cx2? How long is the flyght time compare whith the mcx and cx2? thanks
Ok this helicopter probably has its own spare parts if you break something, but I will look into if you can use the CX2 parts. The flight time is probably similar to the CX2; I think it uses the same battery
They hit the nail on the head with this one. The scale MD520N body looks great, you have lights already installed, and it's gonna make a great indoor flyer.
Well i haven't tried the CX3 yet, but i honestly think that the mcx is the most stable and durable of the group. also, its really small and you can fly it in very tight spaces. its also cheap. so, i would recommend the mcx. you could try the cx3, it looks extremely good. but from my experience the mcx is really good too.
it looks pretty cool although it looks a bit too stable for my liking...I will probablyy by it anyway though lol. I like the look of the scale body....except for the Notar...
The best and I never had experience! love it..I crashed mine cause it was too windy outside, definitely buying another one!

ambientflier 3 years ago
motors on the CX3 or the MCX?
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
Both.
ambientflier 3 years ago
the motors will last a while. all brushless means is that you will get higher RPM's and the durability won't be changed between them.
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
How does this compare flight-wise to the MCX? Flight time and control wise? Is it basically the same thing, but larger?
ambientflier 3 years ago
the CX3 is basically the MCX but larger and different color scheme. eflite used all of the same technology from the CX2 and MCX and formed it into this one. you can expect it to be very stable

I have a mCX and the CX2 and I prefer the mCX for Indoor flying, since it can use more space due ot it's size, it's less noisy (ask my wife), it's less dangerous and the manoeuvrability is just about the same

the mcx is nice. its not very flimsy and extremely durable and stable. its worth every penny honestly
horizonflyer9 3 years ago
