I miss Lake Michigan! I grew up in Chicago (30 + years) and although I have never surfed Lake MI, it is something I have ALWAYS wanted to do. I actually live on the East Coast now, so I'm by the Ocean, but I will probably be moving back to Chicago next summer when I finish school. even though I live on the southern east-coast, right on the Atlantic, I *still* miss good ol' Lake Michigan! I do need to invest in a wetsuit when I move back, what he said about good waves = bad weather is so true!
People are nicer because it's the Midwest, I myself surf the lakes and everything he says is correct

going to grand rapids this weekend. planning on going to the lake a couple of days and surfing. never surfed ona lake.. hope its not too cold :DD
