I believe it was the summer of 1969. I had just turned 7. I was living in North Philly at 21st&Venango. A friend of my mother's lived on the 3500 block of North Gratz between Venango and Atlantic. One particular Saturday Gratz Street was closed off for a block Party and I remember all of us children dancing in the middle of the street to this song. Great post!!
@oldschoolbx1970 >I have not heard this since 1975! LOL! One of the best songs! I am remembering house party's in NYC and Long Island and hanging out with my friends and boyfriend back in the 70's! LOL! Memories! James Brown discovered so many talented people and their songs live on! I tell my children today that they do not know what real music is until they hear James Brown, Marva Whitney, Lyn Collins and Bobby Byrd! Thanks for reminding us that this was the answer to the Islay Brothers jam!
@debgirl12000 If you're gonna be in NYC anytime on a Thursday, you'll hear this joint at Tools of War where real Hip Hop culture'll be there alive and kickin' as usual.
why are there always part 1 and 2 to these things?! It's so frustrating to think you have a tune but there's another half you haven't got! Is there a part two to this tune?
classic record....that man Soulman the ultimate crate digger on the east coast said he found this record in mint condition and only paid a buck for it.....
Yeah I remember this most from EPMD's classic. I am re-learning all this classic material. Was this an actual album or was it a single at the time? peace

Great! I was going to see Marva tonight here in Adelaide Australia but it was cancelled due to her having a stroke. I hope she recovers real soon.

Damn, a ton of people sampled this record. Besides the ones already listed, Public Enemy samples the same part N.W.A. sampled for Bring Da Noise.

Other rappers who sampled this were:
Steady B- Believe Me That's Bad
NWA- Fk Tha Police
I can't remember but some other rapper sampled the part at 2:05.
