Why what is "Mod" ? its being yourself and doing what you want , not always wearing a parka and listening to the who , this is a ever changing world dont get stuck in the past .
There are some songs which are just completely underrated. This is one of them. This has such a great mid-80s sound to it. I love Dee C Lee's voice on this as well, it really complements Paul Weller's minor key effort on this, so-to-speak.
The feeling of the song is very downhearted, but the funkiness of it is a brilliant complement to that.
It's what you call "downhearted"--the downbeat tempo--that makes it such a great mood piece. As you say, it's a brilliant complement.
This comes as a cross between "You're the One For Me" by D-Train and "The Cutting Edge" by the Comsat Angels, both available on youtube. Check them out.
this is what you call music. one of my favourite bands greatest songs, and boy there is a few. My wife of ten years has just walked out the door never to return. I am cheering myself up.weller forevever.play it loud and proud. god bless the queen.
I like this song but there's something a little odd about it. Paul's vocal is probably one of the most subdued of his career. He sounds a little disinterested.
OMFG I knew Weller did Everchanging Moods nbut just borwsed a bunch of TSC videos and oh no, I just realized all the times I heard them as background music in 80s discos ... man, how do you morph from super mod/punk Jam man to this?? well, at least he's voice was great and his lyrics were always something to think about ...
ouch- lay off the poor girl. shes danced like that for this video because she was in a car accident a few days before and had both hips fused together with surgical bolts- very heroic.
Council classic- gotta love the guitar break. Tough groove and the mood is soul deep. When people say they were overlooked/ underrated, think of perfectly hatched tunes like this.
my fav SC jam.

Well here we are at 21.045 viewings of this record, and yet this song still resonates with me from those days. This track is seriously underrated.

British music was always ahead of the US. Very slick, and still sounds great.

Unfortunately the ONLY good song on the orange record.
Well, for me at least, this was the worst council album.

For a black chick Dee can't dance worth a shit, but then again she's English so that explains a lot.
