@superbungabunga not just ten hp-this is the beauty of steam --this is 10 hp at 500 rpms
thats like a 100 hp diesel in torque- do the math- hp x 5252/rpms= t
10 x 5252/500 rpms = 105 ft-lbs! a ten hp outboard motor- makes about 9 ft-lbs at 5500 rpm,s...so this mean this is like about a 110 hp outboard motor or 110 hp car engine in power. its not fast but the torque is incredible...
Nice demo. Incidentally, the double-action V-twin version shown first, except for the lack of reverser/cutoff, is essentially the same design used for the Heisler locomotive (which uses a common crankpin, two common eccentrics for the Stevenson valve gear, and 2:1 geardown at the trucks); the locomotive version has both exhausts discharging into the smokebox.
your not very conservative, instead of exhausting both cylinders, on the duel cylinder, use the exhaust from the first to power the second, or just make is a 4 cylinder.
@Bonkersoffthebat That would require a larger diameter cylinder for the LP cylinder, this has two identical cylinders. This engine is made for everyday power in India, it's not a hobbyist engine or amateur builder. I wish I could buy one, but there are way too many hoops.
@partsproduction contact Mr Desai personally. he is easy to talk to. I have a freind who met this man.
the key is to mark the freight properly. there should be less hassles. Im told that you woulld mark the crate with the actual case number of the winning court case where there was any disputes between the receiever and shipper. of course- im in a different country and its easier to import a steam engine here. but its worth looking into. The engines are legit , made for use - not for show.
