@berrysmart123 These setadicams are usually at least a grand or so. I've been using the Cam Caddie Scorpion for all my DIY videos with much success. I highly recommend one for anyone in search of an efficient independent setup.
man, i almost got horny when i saw that, i think i love cameras and all kind of supplies more than anything else. thats kinda wierd. Are you like trained in using a steadycam system? Or would it even be possible for me, a guy who wants to work with it but with no experience in operating it?
You get experience buy using the damn thing! You can buy a book and or a dvd that'll teach you the basics. Then you go out and Practice. And just when think your getting good.... You PRACTICE, again and again. Whether you own a Piece of shit glidecam rig or the $60,000.00 Steadicam Archer. They all work on the same principle. The price you pay does make a difference. I've used the glidecam 4000 (junk), I own a Verizoom Aviator MX, and have also used a Steadicam Archer (OMG!).
There's a lot of machine work that goes into building one of these things. I build airplanes for a major aircarft mfg co in the U.S. and I thought about building one my self, but it's way to complicated. The home built ones are pure crap! Buy a VariZoom Aviator MX rig or a Tiffen Steadicam rig. It's less expensive in the long run. besides who's going to hire a dumb ass with a home built rig? Lol!
So I buy a Staedydrive from germany, normal price about 4 ts dollar, but the unit have some minor mistakes in the color application. When you use a microscope, you can see that. The very surprising price is 1500 Dollar ;-) And it is from very high quality, the springs are from a well known brand in Germany, an you can adjust them for the best progression. I am very happy. Give "steadydrive" in the upper bare here in YT.
man, where the hell do you get "steadydrive" from? All im saying is that i've been using a glidecam400 set up for a very long time now! and i bought it for $1500, thats a good deal to me and its a professional peice of equipment for doing buissness. Plus your paragraph you just wrote makes no sense...
@AlanAmor82 I'd presume it'd be that someone has changed the settings. As you may know with any camera you have white balance. If that camera has been set for a white balance of a fluorescent lighted area then it will get that golden look to it which in my opinion doesn't look that bad.
yeah ! great..the problem with a heavy JVC (13 kilogramm!!) ...you can only go around about 5 minutes, than you have to stop ...let the body reorganize ...and than 5 more minutes..
PLEASE DON'T READ THIS. You will die in seven days if you don't post this comment on 10 videos in the next hour. If you do, tomorrow will be the best day of your life.
i was gutted i'd been looking forward to that even for ages then on the day (in fact 3 days) something else had come up! Typical!
Anyway, I went for a SteadiCam Pilot with the 16:9 and V-Lock System. Pretty Cool.. Its a bit lighter than the Flyer and suited quite well for the smaller HDV cams as I have a V1E.
Yes, they will let you to try any of the Steadicams on their display stand, and you're chaperoned whilst you walk around. I was allowed about twenty minutes to get a feel for the complexity of handling a Steadicam. It takes a great many hours to master these systems, or months even, to become a truly professional operator.
This is kind of weird for me, two weeks after this was shot, I bought that very flyer system. That very one in the video is now in a case downstairs :-D James Blackburn/Elias did a great job demo'ing too.

For something similar, Glidecam V-25 (V25) camera stabilisation system, from UK you have to spend around 9,000Euros approx. 12,400USD.
waynecutajar321 2 years ago
OK, then I sell my house and order this stabilisation system.
Todaylight 2 years ago
YOu would actually have to do that wtf the price of one of these are scary, i mean what do they make profit more then 70% by selling one.

you ever seen someone who was flat footed operate a steadicam? is it possible?
Burritoast 2 years ago
can you add like a 35mm lens adapter (ie 5 pounds) to the jvc and still use this thing?
stemcellfilms 3 years ago
looks very good for first time, maybe you born to be steadicam operator :D
DiaboloNiclas 3 years ago
was the JVC footage graded? or is that how it looks normally?
pw1295 3 years ago
The JVC footage has not been graded of adjusted in anyway. Whether the JVC's factory settings had been changed, I don't know?

Looks like it wasn't white balanced.
