I believe if you do your research you'll find out that Tom Brown is as far away from the Hollywood bull as you can get. He is one of the best resources for any thing primitive.
For once I'd like to see a practical, (for real), video concerning survival Hygiene in the wilderness. I mean has anyone ever experienced not having the ability to take a shower or even wash ones privates because the temperatures were just too damn cold in the wilderness? Your ass gets outright crusty with funk; and without the necessary Hygiene one will be subject to big time infection. Especially females, just because of the extra opening.
Once you are used to cold weather, if there is snow you can "bathe" in it... the abrasive nature of it allows you to scrub quite effectively... and as an added bonus you will be wide awake by the time you are done! I've done it...
I don't believe "Stalking Wolf''s" knowledge of survival would be applicable to the Climate, Terrain, nor Creatures of the NJ Pine Barrens. Then theres the issue with or of the Water in the NJ Pine Barrens. Try reading the EPA reports of the aquifers in the area. Seems to me to be polluted to the point of no return even if one did boil it, one would be consuming heavy metals. On another note; be sure to pack extra Feminine protection and if all else fails filter it through that. LOL!!!!!!!!!
Kolkron-with all due respect..how are you so certain? ive read every book he ever wrote and studied native lore from my country most my life- and it all parallels Toms stuff. I even have a close freind that paid for a week alone with tom who told me some of the things that happened- all was consistent... no way could some one just invent this stuff..im a survivalist/ primitive skills Sailor- i know how hard it would be to make this all up. btw- the Hummer is now gone
T3 still works there and is quite active. Billy and Kristie are gone, they opened their own school in Montana, PAST Skills I think is the name, it had a website last I saw.
Of course trained survivalists would know how to prioritize a situation and make good judgements based on their surrounding as to what they would need first... shelter or fire or whatnot... this video was for BEGINNERS... shelter should be the first priority of someone not knowledgable in the ways of surviving... also 'shelter' doesn't automatically mean a debris hut, it can be somewhere sheltered and warmer than out in the open...
for example, if it's night, your first priority is to build a fire, have any of you tried to build a shelter at night running through the woods scavenging for wood to build support frames, little do you know, you get lost in matters of seconds without a beacon. FIRE FIRE FIRE
boomrod youre an idiot too. i dont think youve ever been in the woods. who said anything about building shelter? find somewhere that gives you cover then build a fire. and if you get lost looking for wood for FIRE then who cares man your already lost as it is.
Tom Brown is the best! However, in my experience, shelter is not the most important aspect of survival. Tom Brown says "Nature Observation is the key to survival" and I say, after more than 20 years of Alaska wilderness survival training that a state of calm is the most important. - David Lakota
What kinda'pants is that oriental woman wearing? looks cool, like a nice pair for your girlfriend as a gift. That woman named Tonny (spell?) is hot. I am attracted to women who are self sufficient.
thats a dumb thing to say. especially if its warm enough to run around without a shirt on. only time shelter should be your first priority is when its cold, wet, or there are predators in the area. get a job.
Did you listen to the guy when he told of a night that started out at 70 deg, then went down to 20? And you cant get hypothermia in surprisingly mild temperatures without shelter.
like i said, only times shelter is the first priority is when its COLD,i said that didnt i. on top of that, if it is only cold at night, then it would depend on what time of day it is to dictate if shelter is your first priority. it is irresponsible to just say shelter is your first priority
varmin, youre a moron dude. If shelter isnt the first priority please enlighten us to what is. Food? youre not gonna starve to death first day. water? u got a couple days. Finding a way out? odds are it aint happening on the first day bud. get shelter and work from there, its common sense really.
Concerning the chicks in the hut together, I dunno cuz it would be like those chicks who live in the tree in the movie "without a paddle", where they grab things with their toes lol. I don't know if I would dig hairy chicks, especially if they're trying to look sexy and stuff. :o/
The order you call sacred is not what i would say is correct, question one. how do you build a shelter without water as these shelter are quite hard to build and your wtare needs are the most important. In my view wtare becomes the priority and you cannot access water without fire, there for FIRE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT END OF STORY.
So if you're in the middle of the desert and it's 110 in the shade, your first priority will be to build a fire? That kind of rigidity will get you killed. What you need and what order you need them depends on the environment. For example, if you're injured, first aid will be your fist priorty.
Thanks Elaine they made it look easy .

Survivablility (depending upon conditions):
Food: 14-30 days
Water: 3-4 days
Shelter: 24 hours
Breathing: 20 minutes
Calm: panic can kill instantaneously and "A state of calm is the highest achievement of self." -it has been said
DavidLakota 4 years ago
Breathing is 5 minutes at most at room temperature.

I agree with varmint.
You couldn't be more ignorant basing your priorities on this video.
I have had several discussions with trained survivors, being military or woodsmen.
You set your priorities depending on the obstacles thrown at you, the time of day, and the where you are!

Plus a shelter is big it can be seen easier especialy if you make it visible.
