@micmaheux I am now living in one myself - working and running a company at the same time as travelling around. I am very curious about the battery system you have there. I am considering traction batteries - 2 x 6V being the suggestion although I may go for 1 x 12V and then maybe setting up a second one in parallel. What solution did you go for?
@micmaheux In that case they were almost certainly traction batteries. Do you remember how many amp hours you got out of them? With an 80W solar panel though you are going to get a lot of what you use each day replaced even without moving the car far!
@honeycomb1000 gas mileage is very bad ! between 10 and 20 ! I was able to drive about 250 miles on a tank from what I remember... You'll spend more money on gasoline than anything else but it's worth it !
i'm really thinking if getting one of these, i can have about 9 to $10,000 saved up by Sept. Did your bus have an A/C, did it go out alot? was it a reliable vehicle? is it alot different than maintaining any other vehicle? was it you daily driver? i apologize for all the questions man, but i'd appreciate it, I got my heart set on one of these man, peace
no A/C but never needed it ! I drove 70 000km in 2 years... the most reliable vehicle I ever had! It was my daily driver for 1 year! Buy one, you'll never regret it ! Ciao
@micmaheux hay im only 14 butt... i wnt bus like this i know their kinda rare so i decided to start savein at the age of 12i think lol last i counted i have 1500 roughly (i had more but my house blew up and i was in the burn ward) anyways what year is this and how much do u think it'l run me?
@thedaytripper3330 Sorry for late response, No A/C (who needs it?), I was driving it daily, I drove 70 000km in 2 years around Canada, Usa and Mexico in every conditions.. From the rocky mountains to the desert passing by Mexico city and humid yucatan... Of course it needs more maintenance than a any other vehicle as it's more than 30 years old but VW mechanics is easy and cheap to fix. I had 1 small problem in 2 years with the Air Flow Meter which I replaced in 5 minutes...
Very clean!!! i want one but in Puerto Rico its hard 2 find one in good shape and here they cost a little yeah sure jaja the are very expensive .how they cost in the E.U.??? maybe its better 2 inport one from EU
dude.. i need your oppinion regarding old-scholol trucks.. i was wondering which is better to buy a vw westfalia? or a vw kombi bus? because i wanted to convert it to a more modern van, like puting vinyls, painting, customizing, and modifing it. which is better?
In my opinion is much better a kombi bus. Because Westfalias are already customized. But with a kombi you can convert it as you like, starting from scratch. And also if you want to do that, better buying a Panel kombi bus. Cause it´s all empty in the back, ready for you to fix it.
Hey guys.. it's for sale on lespac.com have a look!

Wow, just wow! Solar panel, reinforced cabinets, 12V system... I can tell that a lot of love when into this vehicle.
I wanted to say that watching your vids was the deciding factor in purchasing my own VW Van for my tour across Canada.
À bientôt!

@alanheath 2x6v is probably the best option... I was using batteries from a Golf Kart... lot of power!
