Not saying it inst a good army but it's sped up a lot more than Australia's we take nearly double the time to pass a SF test than in America

why can't you enlist as riflemen anymore in the army? I hear you can still get transfers or have very special arrangments to become one, but no immediate enlistment as a riflemen. How come, as now I hear alot of young Australians are signing up as carpenters etc for the army so they can transfer to riflemen seeing as they can't become a riflemen straight off.
Anyone asking about what it takes to get into SASR should read a book by ex SASR member Dave Everett called "shadow warrior".
While its not a training guide it has some excellent chapters on what he had to go through to get in.
He also fought in Burma as i guess a mercenary (though supposedly wasnt payed) and has the record for the largest criminal explosion in Australia after stealing explosives to rob a gold mine so makes for quite an interesting read.

They started in the Boer War with the Fighting 28. WW1 with the aggressive patrols up to the Bosch lines at night and numerous versions in WW2 from Sparrow Force through the Independent Rifle companies to Z force. We entered Vietnam with 40 years of non-stop jungle warare experience.

1. You do not have to perform the best at your recruit training and employment training. The requirement is you serve 2 or 3 years before you are able to apply for 2nd CDO or the Special Air Service Regiment.
2.Only Army personnel are able to apply for 2nd CDO, Unless you prove yourself + get a recommendation from the service your in, to try the selection for 2nd CDO.
SAS Soldiers are MADE through the hardest physical training regimes on earth equal to or better than any other special forces in the world. (Although having the heart of a lion helps)
@guitarledgend1990 3.You are NOT born a Soldier, you are made. Any true Soldier will tell you that. I have read many basic + SOCOMD Soldiers say, That a Soldier in never born, they are always made and thats what makes "us" unique etc.
4. To be any type of Military personnel including SOCOMD of course you HAVE to have a Soul. Without one you can not perform the mission to the expected level. Souls have many meanings when it comes to be any military personnel

I'm planning to get into commandos, and they like to employ from existing ADF members, so my YOU session says. so i will join as rifleman and shine until im acceoted.
You can apply for Commando straight up, but dont bother, you can try all you like, but you wont have any idea what you are getting into. If you are dead set on it , join as a grunt and see if you can hack that, then apply for CDO/SAS and see how you go doing the Cadre course.
phfft one thing is being a rifle man its a stupid career and to be special forces you have to give up everything but your country and there is a like a 1 year qualification then 6 years training if your curious watch the national geographic special about the SAS.
It's not six years of training, you have Selection then Continuation training. It does not go for six years, you are required to live in Perth and go and train as though it's a full time job however.
The only time you're giving up your life is when you're deployed or on extended training exercises.
it depends which special forces unit you want to do. SAS, Comando ???? but the basic physical requirments for it is 60 push ups, 120 situp, and like 10 or 15 chin ups. so if ur in grade 12 now id start training. im in grade 9 and ive started already :P coz i got the same idea as you
Currently the wait for entering as a rifleman is about a year, so you might consider applying as a soldier. Soldier is listed as a 'priority job' at the moment, meaning your application would go a lot quicker.

@s0052701 well they use ATV's ASLAVs (not crewed by SAS but for insertion) 6 wheeled ADF Jeeps (not humvees xD) Bushmasters (sometimes crewed by SAS but for insertion) other landrovers like you see here in the video and probably many more that the public are not told, the SASR have unlimeted access to weapons i think since they are the only ones that have M4A5's (the ausie version of the m4) and HK MP5's so they probably have some vehicals that only they have

why can't you enlist as riflemen anymore in the army? I hear you can still get transfers or have very special arrangments to become one, but no immediate enlistment as a riflemen. How come, as now I hear alot of young Australians are signing up as carpenters etc for the army so they can transfer to riflemen seeing as they can't become a riflemen straight off.

Anyone asking about what it takes to get into SASR should read a book by ex SASR member Dave Everett called "shadow warrior".
While its not a training guide it has some excellent chapters on what he had to go through to get in.
He also fought in Burma as i guess a mercenary (though supposedly wasnt payed) and has the record for the largest criminal explosion in Australia after stealing explosives to rob a gold mine so makes for quite an interesting read.

1. You do not have to perform the best at your recruit training and employment training. The requirement is you serve 2 or 3 years before you are able to apply for 2nd CDO or the Special Air Service Regiment.
2.Only Army personnel are able to apply for 2nd CDO, Unless you prove yourself + get a recommendation from the service your in, to try the selection for 2nd CDO.

4. To be any type of Military personnel including SOCOMD of course you HAVE to have a Soul. Without one you can not perform the mission to the expected level. Souls have many meanings when it comes to be any military personnel

You can apply for Commando straight up, but dont bother, you can try all you like, but you wont have any idea what you are getting into. If you are dead set on it , join as a grunt and see if you can hack that, then apply for CDO/SAS and see how you go doing the Cadre course.

It's not six years of training, you have Selection then Continuation training. It does not go for six years, you are required to live in Perth and go and train as though it's a full time job however.
The only time you're giving up your life is when you're deployed or on extended training exercises.

Currently the wait for entering as a rifleman is about a year, so you might consider applying as a soldier. Soldier is listed as a 'priority job' at the moment, meaning your application would go a lot quicker.

Well, at the time he was our "buddy" he wasnt a murderous dictator. He was actually building a good Iraq. I also doubt very much cheap oil deals with US oil companies, esp since gas prices in the US have been their highest in history the past few years. If we has such cheap oil, our prices would fall. And, since when does Afghanistan have oil? Oh, and btw, we have supported Afghanistan for many many years, since the Russians invaded them many years ago.

Most oil fields in Iraq are Russian and French owned. And what is the big deal about a gasline through Afghan? Where in the hell do you think you Aussies get your gasoline? New Zealand? Get real pal.

The US purchases 800,000 or the 2million Iraq makes, alot of is done dodgily though.
There used to be a UN run site the "U.N. humanitarian program for Iraq" showing all oil contracts ect but it was shut down last year (to hide these deals supposedly). Again abit of research will show you.

It is getting sad because the things you say are all hypothetical and supposed. Rumor and assumption are not fact. Btw, during the Iran / Iraq war, the kurds supported Iran and fought against Iraqi troops. Thats why the had gas used against them years back. At the time, they were combatants, not innocent civilians.

And on the oil it basically has to be hypothetical as despite the fact it should be public information your govt (and others) actively set out to hide alot of contracts to do with Iraq. The oil industry (again US and others) are also making 100's of millions a year from supplies to the Iraqi oilfields equipment ect.
Just search US-Iraq contracts and if you can get through all the old new stories there is plenty of interesting reading.

Starting a war just to get the pipeline setup (as many ppl suggest) isnt ok.
And no Australia wont be needing to buy it as we have our own natural gas reserves.

The Taliban had been the govt of Afghanistan for 10 years, they even went to the US in early 90's. Elections where held for the new govt only a few years back with US protection well after they where invaded. It was a huge news story you fool.
And yes ofcourse Iraq had WMD's at one point (halabja was 20 odd years ago) but they where all destroyed, The UN weapon inspectors told you that but you claimed to have other evidence.

Hey roo lover, in case you missed the news back in the 90's, Saddam didnt let the UN weapons inspectors do their jobs. Its one reason the UN imposed all the sanctions on his country. From what I read, in historical articles about Agfhanistan, the taliban never actually ruled the government there, have just always had a hand in it. And of course we had other evidence, he was still gassing 100's of thousands of northern kurds. Check your recent history.
