  • Besides for looks, that SSD casing also acts as a heatsink, so you're gonna shorten the life of that thing like crazy by doing that!

Oh, and I wouldn't call Li-Polymer batteries or CPU underclocking newly developed technology!!

  • that depends if the OCZ case actually touches the memory chips to be a heatsink. if it doesnt, then it's just a protective casing. taking it off would be better for the SSD. I would suggest putting heatsinks on those chips. Sort of like how people take IHS off of CPUS to run them cooler.

  • Hey mang! I just bought one of these on impulse, and I thought of some awesome questions for you:

    1) How does real-life battery life compare to the 1000H*? Is it any better with a different OS like Ubuntu?

    2) Is the LCD backlight the most power-hungry part of this laptop considering its size and the fact that it's LED?

    3) Will Ubuntu need heavy configuring to fully function on this thing?

    4) Are the aluminum parts solid aluminum, or is it just a veneer subject to nasty wearing?

    Thanks, 5 *s

  • looks sexy

    I am on the fence

I've ordered dell 9 mini, it's been in production for like a month. Dell take their time, lol.

I'm thinking maybe I should cancel the order and buy this one instead. I was going to hackintosh dell mini. But from the pictures 1002HA looks so nice, I love metal chassis. I never had a chance to check it out in person though. Could you compare it to Dell 9 Mini? Which one is better? Is 1002HA hackintoshable? How much did you pay for SSD?

    THANKS!

  • HELP!

My Kingston 2GB DDR2 RAM just arrived.

I installed it according to the video instructions. Fairly simple.

I powered on the ASUS and nothing happens.

Checked the connection again, seems fine.

    ASUS would not power on.

Replaced back the original 1GB RAM, ASUS will not power on.

    What's wrong?

    I bought the Kingston PC2-5300 667MHZ KVR667D2SO/2GR

  • i got my 2 gig ram and installed it in about 5 minutes - make sure you turn your boot boost to DISABLED in the bios menu and to hit F10 to save your changes before you swap the ram cards and to re-ABLE boot booster in the bios menu hit F10 to save changes and check your ram status - 2 gigs - now restart

  • ok - here it is - O.C.Z. --- OCZ2MV6672G - crucial ---2GB667MHZDDR2 Sodimm - and kingston --- KVR667D2S5/2GB - i went with kingston -i should come tomorrow

  • my speakers suck - but the headphone jack works great - i either wear earbuds or plug the headphone jack into the input on my jvc boombox - sounds great - i also can't seem to get the webcam to work as a webcam - it will take still photos - any help on this would be greatly appreciated - my ram upgrade should come tomorrow - i went with kingston - but i found ocz and crucial both offer the right ram - i'll post their model numbers later tonight

  • How did the install go. I am waiting to see and hear your results?

  • Am i right in saying that there is no dvd rom drive, how did you install windows? did you have any trouble?

Because you installed the solid state drive does that mean that the battery life should be extended?

  • S-H-E button? Sounds kinky...

Is there an overclock emulation for the Eee PC 900?

Could you do annotations with web sources for these add-ons?

  • damm the 1002ha looks more like the n10 than the eeepc 1000ha.

It looks like a nice professional lappy now.

  • Why did you change the HD?

  • I changed the HD because I had a solid state hard drive to upgrade to. No moving parts, much faster access and read times.

  • Dude, don't do the music but get a tripod - I'm getting motion sickness :S

    Good informative video though! :)

  • can you give me details for the gpu memory? is it 128mb or 64mb?

  • gpu is the intel 945 chipset. It's shared so it depends on how much RAM you have.

  • touchscreen + gps please

  • Would be really nice...

  • TOUCHSCREEN FOR EEEPC1002HA?

  • After some time hands on with the 1002HA, do you find it reasonable to "upgrade" (even though its actually a downgrade) from the 1000H? I can probably manage the loss of battery life, and all specs are the same. My main concern is the speakers. Are they as loud and nice as the 1000H? I was really happy with the 1000H speakers. It sounds better than my full size G50V-A1.

  • That's a great question. I did actually consider this an "upgrade" from the 1000H. For me, it just looks a lot better. It finally looks like something expensive (Sony vaio TZ...)

I can't comment on speakers because mine came with a defect and I'm expecting a new unit from Asus in another 2 weeks or so. I've heard other users say that its the same as the 1000H but you should really consider using 'earbud' headphones for your netbook anyways.

  • Im often at work, I need to be able to get up and move and hear the phones. Earbuds not an option in that environment. Plus good speakers are important to me.

  • do you know if it's just as easy to do this on a 1000ha, i can't find it anywhere

  • Yea, look @ my other video, I actually do have a walkthrough of the 1000ha as well.

  • Hey thanks for the vids.

I'm very eager to know the actual battery lifespan from a full charge. I'm torn between this and the 1000.

  • Also, could give me some details on what brand and the tech details for the RAM you installed ? I'm also interested in upgrading the RAM in my 1002HA and I wanna make sure I buy the correct RAM. Thanks much in Advance !

  • what brand and size is that ssd?

can you link me to both the parts you purchased?
