  • 136 bhp from a 1.4 litre engine. FANTASTIC WORK

  • That would be awesome as a motorcycle engine.

  • looks like a mg motor?

  • sounds like a yamha 9.9 boat motor with wrong sparkplugs. :p

  • Mini?

  • Looks kike a suiped up engine from a Grasshopper ZTR lawn mower!!!!

  • Very Nice

  • Lol:) That thing is tight! i bet it could power a ful sized sedan if you really wanted to! Lol. 136 HP is plenty

  • i have four of those is a lawn mower engine

  • amazing sound

  • i want one for my scooter!

  • where can i find one of these

  • its 850???

  • should be : mini engine on mini dyno..

  • how mini is that compared to a full grown human????

  • Comment removed

  • That is precision. Cnc? Drill press? Custom cast? Hook it up to a dune bug chassis, let's see this move something. Mabye custom chassis mini hot rod?

  • ok cool...now what?

  • nice sound!!

  • umm ####'s ????

  • 136/114 NA, sounds like way too much cam. my 2cents.

  • that will make your geo haul ass lol

  • And less greenhouse gases than an Al Gore Sunday School lesson!!!

  • it makes as much power as my Focus :(

  • lol don't feel bad, it's not really that mini..it's a 1.4 liter engine

  • @breakfromyou ;-)

  • DAMN thats bigger than any POS honda motor lmfao

  • actually its not.. a b16 is 1.6L and puts out 170hp/116ft. and redlines at 8200 rpm. STOCK. this is a BUILT, single cam, 1.4L puting out 136hp/114ft. and redlines at 7500 rpm. Honda is no POS compared to this

  • Nice numbers for a 1.4 liter! I'd be happy to get that from my ancient 1.8!

You said it's a stroker...what's the original specs on this engine? (Sorry, I don't know a thing about minis)

  • Depends on application, but the BMC A-series 1275 engines put out between 58 and 94hp (Metro Turbo) in the Mini, Sprite/Midget, Metro, Marina, etc.

Not much fancy in 'em - pushrod four, three main bearings, siamesed cylinder pairs, and a five-port head. Most ran below 9:1 compression. Nice thing was, they're all equipped with forged cranks and rods! The A+ was even better, with filleted crankpin journals and a reinforced block.

  • it looks like a small s10 engine...lol

  • looks like a Mercury boat engine lol

  • That's tight

  • Reminds me of an old girlfriend..

  • small and as loud as hell?

  • yeah, but at least an engine has a few more useful purposes than a girlfriend. And it doesn't nag you haha

  • lol dirty boi

  • @wgormly her mouth was reving to high?maybe redline?!lol

  • @wgormly `

ahahahahahhhahahha it took me a while to get it LOL

  • cool engine

  • Wonders what the low throttle power and fuel economy are like????

  • sounds great...

  • so one of these was finally put on a load

  • 1: put on troller not attached to anything

2: start up making that increasing noise

3: push it down somebodys drive towards their front door

  • Blahdob you forgot

    4: ????

    5: PROFIT!

  • hayabusas suck Go ZX14R

  • GO CART TIME!!!!

  • AWESOME !!!!

  • my speakers blew...no joke

  • geo motor?

  • put that on a gokart

  • wow that is awesome 136hp wow

  • thats fucken ill lol its got more

    hp than a honda!! dang!

  • I dont care for hondas but a 1595cc B16a makes 170hp. and a better JDM engine makes 185 with the same CCs

  • Tuning old fashioned engines is more interesting I think, these r from the 1950's or earlier I think!

  • no lol

minis came out in 1959 and im pretty sure thats all been copied on a machine and made to be raced

  • He's right, you know..

The A Series engine is 1950s tech.

1951 and 3 A30 saw the first A-Series in production.

  • And even better, you can get 120+ hp from a 600cc motorcycle engine.

The 16a is a great engine. First production car to make over 100hp per litre.

  • honda did some inovative shit with their 4cylinders. and 136hp is good.

  • @dann6968 Although it is a great engine, the "first" production car to hit that barrier that I can think of was the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale - in 1968. Toyota, nissan and daihatsu also beat honda to it in the very late 80s with the Charade GTTi 99hp/993cc, the SR16VE 197hp/1598cc and 4AGE Silver/Black 165hp/1598cc top engines. I cant remember the code variant, but the B16A in the EK9 Type R had ~185 ps didnt it? A very good engine, just crying for a RMR/FMR chassis :)

  • lol, ring ding ding. get ur parachute ready..

  • Now that is one tiny engine... Can it make over 150hp? For a mini I guess that will be alot, nice job.

  • makes 136 hp says in the info

  • nearly 100hp/liter from an N/A ohv engine? great job!

  • A v8 in a mini would be too much. 136HP will move it pretty good, a honda vtec will make it scream.

  • THATS fucking insane man.. sounds more like a jet engine than a piston engine... i want one..

  • Holy sick!

  • PUT IT INA QUAD!!

  • you got a car to put this in yet LOL!

  • nup! fucking slack. the paint shop i had it at rooted me around, i've got a new painter but he doesnt want it for another couple of weeks yet. i've still gotta get some flares and do a little bit of body work before i send it to him though.

  • I see you've got a webber on it.i like webbers.so what's the ignition?and have you thought about a cross-flow head,also what's it gunna be powering?..i'm interested.

  • Ignition is a 45D, still running points! I have had dreams about it having a Twin Cam head... maybe one day ;)

It will be in a Austin Cooper S.

  • @wgormly mmm twin cam head... so expensive though.. was thinking of doing the same with my 1275 till i found out you have to change the con rods and pistons aswell

  • Wow that sounds amazin

  • Those A series engines are great, from driving a Mini Metro into the workshop, to having the engine and gearbox seperated on the bench was 37 minutes. I held the record at Caffyns, Horsham,UK.

  • looked like you were not running any header during that pull.... do you think that affected your numbers any?

  • it's running 3-2-1 extractors - you can see the tail pipe running down the back of it.

the headers are specially designed by Graham Russell

  • Okay I do see it running along the ground. SOrry man. Awesome motor!

  • is this for a minicar? or a snowmobile? cause thatd be sick on a snowmobile...

  • retarded much?

  • hittin sum high rpm's are we? whats the max hp those lil things can output?

  • No, this is an A-series mini CAR engine.

  • not bad for a 1.4 liter engine :)

  • Nice Sound Thats Crazy~!!!

  • can u plz tell me the specs?

looks like a good set of specs to put into my mini estate! would very much appreciate it.

    thanks.

  • looks like a dellorto thats all i can tell

  • Started life as an A+ injected from a 1996 Cooper.

Gearbox is essentially standard, apart from cross-pin differential and straight cut drop gears (sounds sensational!)

Crankshaft is wedged and stroked (83mm -ish).

Pistons are custom machined, with special dish.

Head has been modified with Mk2 sized "S" valves, double valve springs, and moderate port and chamber work.

Induction is a 45DCOE weber, on a Graham Russell 5.5" manifold.

Anything else you'd like to know?

  • Oh yer. Now thats what I'm talkin' 'bout!!

    Nice. Very nice!!!

  • Thats a mini cooper-engine!

Nice work from 64 to 136 horsepower;)

  • When you put it that way, it's quite a feat I think!

  • what are the specs of the engine?? would like to know thnx

  • aww... i was waiting for the gormly trademark giggle at the end.. :)

  • that just gives me a humungeous errection. that is just great.
