  • have you considered subbing the water in your recipie for a nice white wine??

  • Forever alone mealtime

  • Langoust

  • Ok guys contrary to what red lobster restaurant would have you believe, lobster is NOT meant to be grilled. The lobster ends up being overwhelmed by the smoke from the flame. Smoky lobster is indistinguishable from chicken. All of the lobster flavor is lost. Lobster is one of the few foods in the world that is best steamed.

  • @rddaos

Did you try this before you posted? I am guessing no....

  • @ChefTips

Of course! I was like most people, "wow, lobster tastes good. grilled lobster looks good. therefore, it must also taste good." But then I tried it, and the smokiness of the coals completely obliterated the lobster flavor, i was VERY DISAPPOINTED! And no, i didnt slow smoke them with mesquite and hickory over 12 hours. It was a quick grilling over charcoal.

  • @rddaos

Ok, sorry for the confusion. Mine is grilled over high gas heat so you are not going to get a charcoal/mesquite flavor. I admit, certain food is not meant to be smoked/bbq'd over coals. I tried it with asparagus years ago and it was awful...If you do the lobster this way over a gas grill, you'll love it! Thanks for commenting back and clarifying your previous post.

  • @whoandtheha

All the more betta for ya!

  • thanks for this video ..i learned from your good tips :) thanks .. i love cooking as much as to be on top of the food chain after watching cooking food tips .. lol thanks for sharing

  • I used 16 oz tails and this recipe. Came out perfect thank you. You just have to leave them on the grill a minute or 2 longer. Delicious. Thank you!

  • seriously why would you rinse the meat? that makes no sense. That's just like washing a steak before you cook it.

  • @Dann2013

Rinsing the tails takes off all the nasty moisture that the tails have been frosting in.

The flavor that comes from cooking the shell and the flavor of the meat is not compromised due to rinsing. Trust me! =]

  • noooooooooooooooooooo you never rinse the lobster unless its absolutely disgusting.....

  • @HakiConqueror

Of course you do. Why wouldn't you?

  • @ChefTips Because it completely kills the flavor.

  • How do you make chive oil?

  • @HollywoodNeverGiveUp

Hello. Check out my video on flavored oils.

  • @ChefTips Thanks, have a great new year!

  • nice !!!

  • @BamaBill67 Thanks! Hope you enjoy them!

  • Great ++

  • @ChocobreezeA Thanks!

  • A great addition to grilled lobster or shrimp is adding lemon right near the end

  • @BOOMBOOMCREEPER Absolutely!

  • I noticed that you did not season the lobster or sauce at all. Do you feel that salt is not necessary for this recipe? Also, what is the purpose of rinsing the tail?

  • @mikey2312

You can add a bit of salt to the butter and water. I used salted butter and should have pointed that out. I usually rinse most seafood unless it is really fresh. I find that frozen, thawed seafood will sometimes have a slight fishy smell that can be rinsed away before cooking.

  • foodgasm in my pants

  • BTW, I never crack the back, to keep the juices in

  • We got the special holiday sale at S & F. $8.00 per 5 oz. tail. Grilled em, dipped in melted butter and garlic powder....... Could have eaten about a dozen more.......

  • @joeasmythe Sounds great!

  • @ChefTips fyi most people add oil to the girl to avoid sticking but what people dont know is their turning it to early if u let it stay on longer it will release itself : )

  • @joeasmythe Where can I find S & F?

  • Wow....sounds great....me and the wife just came back from Phuket and brought us 1 lobster tipping the scale at 930 grams and 2 KG of King Tiger Prawns. All up, about $90 worth of seafood, but damn worth it as we live in Laos and have no sea near us. I hope so deeeeelish after seeing your recipe.

  • @cycleclinic1973 Thanks! Hope you enjoyed it!

  • Why would you rinse the flavor out of the lobster? lol

  • @Shorty20122012

Trust me. You will not rinse away the lobster flavor.

  • looks like you found that oil in your garden

  • This is the only way I will eat lobster

  • @Drelvon Thanks!

  • what kinda lobster is that is it from the grosery store whats the quality of it i wanna get me some

  • @NarutoVids55 We got these tails from Costco's seafood road show.

  • I have a question; does the size of the grill matter??

  • @KINGofKOOLAID No, as long as they fit is all that matters. :)

  • @ChefTips thats what she said : /

  • This is awesome, you rock at grilling!

  • @cryteeek Thank you!!

  • @rinieusebio Thanks! Enjoy!

  • Just wanted to stop in and say thank you. Diner tonight was a huge hit for my wife and our 5 friends. We did everything you did in the video but omitted the chives. My only problem in prep was that it was hard to get the meat to separate from the shell some when we split it.

  • @TeamTEOR Thanks for taking the time to comment. I'm glad you all enjoyed it!

  • Are you kidding me??! Must. Eat. LOBSTER!

  • I actually prepared the Lobster Dinner the next day it was awersome, I purchased two whole Lobesters and I am going to have the other one this weekend, thanks again for your excellent videos....

  • I like your Lobster dinner and I am going to try it today, you video is excellent bless..

  • @D1stDrInternet Thanks! Hope you enjoyed it!

  • one thing i like was the omission of killing the lobster. You saved us all from all the needless flame war. Er. What did you do with the claws?

  • i loooooove lobster tails!!

  • dude I hate you because now Im hungry

  • @demac209

    Sorry! =]

  • Hey where do you get this said "Chive Oil". I have asked people at my local super market if they have it. They did not or even know what it is. Please help!

  • @neverskankyfan282 You make it yourself. Stay tuned. I'll be preparing this in a video this month.

  • @neverskankyfan282

    Hi

The "Chive Oil" is just olive oil (can be extra virgin oil if preferred) with fresh chives pureed in a food processer. You can do this with other herbs too, such as basil or parsley.

  • Dude!!,.......you're awesome, thanks for the class.

  • @soohoojrj You're welcome! :)

  • I have never ate lobster. Looks so good but I think I would mess up cooking it.

  • @gizmotwadlebutt even if you don't want to cook lobster you need to try it.. its delicious. one of my personal favorites is a good lobster benedict for breakfast. by the way good video jason. i haven't grilled lobster before but now feel inspired to do so

  • @gizmotwadlebutt thats why you start cooking. You will learn when it's done, it's so fun and you can easily cook dishes that you would pay good money for in a restaurant!

  • that smile is so funny

  • great! thanks for sharing

  • Hey Jason, I love lobster, but I'm intimidated by the idea of cooking it myself because I have no idea how to clean or prepare them. I see some people remove the entrails and some people just go ahead and eat the entire lobster tail. Is it necessary to remove the entrails for health reasons? If so, how can I properly do this without tainting the meat? I hope this isn't too dumb of a question, but I think it will help me to find a starting point. I greatly appreciate any insight you can provide.

  • @prashaddamion You can buy them already gutted. Perhaps I'll a video on how to prepare a live lobster. :)

  • @ChefTips YES, please do so!

Man, I can't wait for another helpful video! :)

  • Thanks! I was a little nervous. But what is the water for? Also, thought you should know, I made your funnel cake recipe and my 7 year old daughter thought it the best! Thanks for making me look good!

  • @kimberlemae

The water is for basting. It is flavored with the butter and tossed over the lobster tail to cook it.

Glad your daughter enjoyed the funnel cake!

  • Hi Jason. Just wondering why you're adding water? Doesn't that dilute the flavor of the butter which of course is my favorite part of the lobster....LOL I'm a regular Paula Deen when it comes to that butter!

  • @kimberlemae

The water burns off. The butter flavor sticks... trust me! lol

  • I have very small lobster tails to do - about 3 oz each. Any suggestions on the grilling? I'm assuming it's going to be REALLY quick if they are that small!

  • dude i usually love your videos, but that was just wayy too much work for some lobster tail

  • @neqko

Noooo, it's not that much work really! =]

  • @neqko

No WAY. This recipe is awesome. The best lobster tail I have ever eaten.

  • WOWWWWWWWWWWW

  • @TheErikagonzalez

  • @Elle7491

    Taken from wikipedia

"In American English the initial "h" is normally silent"

    Thanks for asking!

  • @ChefTips American English. What about the Queens English. Proper English

  • @Elle7491

I don't know, what about the Queen's English?

I think we quit speaking the Queen's English over here somewhere around July 4th 1776 LOL! Besides, isn't this a dumb arguement...?

  • What is chive oil? I am not going to eat the tails, but I would like to cook them for my wife and friends.

  • @kidistight It's olive oil scented with chives.

  • Ñam Omg! GOOD JOB!

  • Thats a pretty cool way of opening up the tails. They don't curl up that way and looks really good. Cheers!

  • @ChefEricD Thanks!

  • Delicious

  • is he using a low flame on his bbq grill?

also , how long should one preheat the grill?

    thanks!

  • @naboba he said he was searing it which is usually at a high heat to keep the juices in

  • Lobster tail is one of the best sea food in the world, but the only thing I hate most is that I usually finish them in a couple of bites. :- (
