do u need an accessport if ur car was already tuned, is it good to have one?, btw im only 16 n bought my used 06 wrx wit a few mods on it already so im just wondering
No you do not need an accessport for a car thats already "properly" tuned.
Its fairly hard to find a tuner to make a tune thats as good (well made, powerful yet fairly safe for the overall wellbeing of the car) as the one Cobb has on the Accessport.
With an accessport your able to read vital readings from the computer. Thats one advantage of an accessport, assuming you dont have any gauges to do the reading for you.
Plus Cobb offers quite a few maps on their website already made for the accessport. So essentially your getting potential 2+ maps for your car with one accessport.
Sorry if this was confusing. Let me know if you have any more questions.
It really depends on your mods. Cobb has made and supports maps for a few aftermarket modifications. You would have to check with Cobb to see if the mods you have fit into the perimeters of a map they have made.
No, the Accessport cannot change boost like a boost controller can. Boost levels have been pre dialed in while they were designing the maps.
Can I use one of these in my WRX 2007 in Brazil? Is there any restriction for ECU models, and different fuel rates/qualities? The gasoline in my country has different percentages of ethanol, etc...I've also heard something about e-tuning that Cobb is providing for Australian subies...Does it work in that way?
From what I've heard Brazil is a free market. We have customers with US cars and JDM cars there. The Accessport is designed for USDM cars. Different fuels will make a very big impact.
If you can find an e-tune map that fits your build then I wouldn't see why that wouldn't work.
I was wondering do both of the maps (stage 1 and 2) come on an accessport? Or does each stage map come on a separate accessports (basically stage1 accessport then another is accessport is stage2)? Can just download the maps from cobb?
Cobb has off the shelf (OTS) maps that account for certain types of fuel like 93 octane, 91 octane. Off the top of my head I do not believe they have one built for E85 because its fairly rare.
thanks. I am looking for good E85 conversion, because I live in Minnesota and their is E85 at every gas station around. It looks like a nice set up anyway.
I heared about that the Mazdaspeed3 sold in Mexico has a diferent ECU from the one sold at the US. A friend told me that the "Mexican" Mazdaspeed3 has the same tune as the Californian MS3 (federal I guess).
So, i would like to know if the AccessPort can be applyed to my new MS3.
The AccessPort for the MazdaSpeed3 will only work on the USDM models at this time. We can only guarantee that these will work with the US Models at this time.
Yes they do. Go to Cobbs website, click on Impreza RS, click on "Power" Bam!!!! Cobb AccessPort for the 2.5 RS. hmm... but only for the '05 and above.
you can install the AP on a car with an open source tune. but you will not have a factory base map to return to if you want to. it will download and save whatever map you currently have on the ECU
Just installed an Accessport for my 2008 STi, the install process was so easy, you don't even have to bother with the test connectors, the engineers at Cobb are just amazing!!! I love how my car performs even better than before, I recommend the Accessport anybody!!!
I've been searching EVERYWHERE for the answer to this and I think you just answered it for me. 08 WRX's and Sti's don't need to be in "TEST MODE" in order to install a reflash MAP? If yes? That is awesome. I just ordered a Cobb AP for my 08 WRX and can't wait to get it running. Thanks in advance
would i be able to go back to the settings i had before loading a map?

@07STiLuke
The connectors only need to be connected during the install process and when your changing maps.
So to view live data, no they dont have to be connected.

Like how versatile is this product. I saw on there site that the factory maps ex. stage1 and stage2 looked really boring. Lets say I have...
cams, lower compression more boost, Cold Air in, bigger injectors.
are there maps for stuff like this?
Can it change boost?

@renarudo1
yes, both Stage 1 and Stage 2 Maps come pre-loaded on the accessport when you buy it.
The Accessport can have multiple maps loaded onto it where the user can then decide which map to run.
Yes you can just download the maps off of cobbs website as well many other maps to fit what your running

It could be economical to start running E85 and find someone that can locally tune your car for it!
E85 is cheaper normally then Unleaded gasoline and your able to produce big power

I believe Cobb collaborated with Rallitex and made an Accessport for the 02-09 2.5L non Turbo Subaru
