  • shame the orchestra drowns the piano out all the time.

  • What an amazing and beautiful piece by an unknown french composer. This is indeed a Treasure. Fantastic and Inspiring !!!

  • this pieace inspires me! - Excuse my english spelling :)

  • @kelvinchoi283364 True, but Rachmaninoffs music might sound Pierné-like, it's far better... (in my opinion). More complete, more diversified (musically and technically), more powerfull, and better melodies. But Pierné remains a good surprise for me.

  • @fikradas Yes but that would make Pierne the original.

  • A master piano piece from a famous unknown french composers.

  • meraviglioso concerto che non conoscevo, bravo il pianista chi é?

grazie per condividere queste belle musiche!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    cddpiano

  • Wow! Great for a change from the usual fare of Rach and Tchai.

  • Quale magnifico concerto!

    Sono felice di ascoltarlo!

    Grazie infinitamente.

    Luz

  • so much Rachmaninoff influence heard here!.... very very interestng

  • @chutdigadut maybe it'll be more interesting when u know that this pieces is composed when Rachmaninoff is only 13 years old

  • I have not been blown away by a piece of music in so long.

How this is not considered one of the most beatiful works of art is beyond me.

1:46 and afterwards, it's so beautiful, how he introduces it, the notes, everything. Thank you for having this up. Makes me wonder what else has been lost to fame.

  • My mind has been blown. I kept up with the music (reading, not playing) for as long as I could. I started to fall behind @3:48

I'm a notoriously fast reader, But there is just too much, too quickly

  • Wow. I've met some talented pianists, but wow. This looks difficult. Then again, what do I know? I'm hardly a beginner.

  • @jgungfuguru I'm currently learning this, and presuming that you have the time to learn it, I advise you do. It does wonders for your technique, especially in the fast semiquaver passages. The hardest bit for me is actually the rapid chord sequences, which are a nightmare on my piano (the action isn't too great)

It works quite nicely on a bechstein baby grand that I have access to however.

  • It's sad that there are so many composers out there who are under-rated or unknown, but it's amazing when we discover music that is centuries old, and we breathe new life into them

  • At 5:59, its sounds like Chopin's etude op. 25 n°10!

  • @AlexandreJdB - It really does! Different key, though.

  • last 3 bars are powerfull

  • this is amazing!!!

  • it makes me sad that there's a piece like this that's clearly a masterpiece that's virtually unknown .... what other unknown SPECTACULAR first rate classical compositions are out there that no one knows about ????

    :(

  • Very good!!! Sounds like an early Rachmaninov.

  • My god this is amazing. I would love to find more unknown authors such as Pierné.

  • Just effing wonderful!

  • Loved the Third movement of this concerto. Thanks for going to the trouble of posting the piano score. Listened to classical music all my life and never heard this.

  • 5:59

  • A lot of similarities can be drawn between this and a Saint Saens concerto, although the orchestration techniques are starkly different in the two.

  • Superb, thank you so much for posting this, i have been looking for a score of the work for such a long time, and here the 3rd movement is laid out neatly for me to appreciate the beauty of the work.

But may i suggest why the piece is not so well known:

1 - a well known critizism of it is that the structures are too rigid, and that the transitions are too obvious.

2 - this critizism is one of my own, the beauty of the work is reprimanded by the orchestration and little variation.

  • I can agree with those criticisms. It's a good piece of music. It's sturdy and does it's job. It's fun to listen to, and doesn't really do anything 'wrong'.

It is however, not a piece of genius and pure beauty.

  • I absolute love this concerto (the part from 1:58-2:05 reminds me of Gershwin too;). Thanks Hexameron. You've posted some terrific stuff!!

  • This is SUCH a good concerto. I do not know why we have to play the same Liszt, Beethoven, Rachmaninoff over and over again when there are concertos like this and others that are just as good and better but they have slipped through the cracks because of the "giant" composers. Hyperion Records has a CD set that has a whole host of "forgotten" composers. Check it out. Thanks SO very much for this post. If you have others, keep them coming. I love following with the music.

  • @baroquegeek Because the fucking public won't pay to see it unless it's Rachmaninoff. And all the big labels would rather endlessly record famous concertos with whatever pianist they are touting at the time. Thank God for Naxos, Hyperion, and the smaller independents.

  • Amazing ! Thanks for sharing.

  • Fantastic - what a find!!

  • WOW...amazing. Never heard of Pierne.....love it

  • The playful section of the finale is amazingly catchy!

  • what an unknown treasure!!!!!!!!!! Great

  • 1:14

  • Beautiful

  • Do I have to send out pm's so ppl give this 5 stars!??

    xD

    excellent ...
