I swear to God you put "More Songs About Buildings and Food" on in a crowd of 18 year olds and they'd wet themselves and ask "What is this?!?". I'd love to see the expressions on their faces when its explained its a 34 year old New Wave album. The poor kids have nothing, NOTHING like this these days.
After hearing Talking Heads first few albums everyone wanted to form a band like them, they really had somthing special. Tina Weymouths bass playing was so unique. I only found out through the Talking heads biography the bitchin and back stabbing that went on. They could of been as big as U2 if they had of got on better with each other. But hey! they still are one of the greatests bands. It would be nice if they came out with a new album and new songs!
EASILY.......DEFINETLY!!!! in my top 10 Albums EVER!!!!!! Sonically the basis for SO much music out now....... I can't even get it out to mto my hands to explain to the youth.. Just go out & buy one!!(get an O.G. analog copy) an FEEL the music!!!.. or maybe not... CKY......
@hairymarx Not sure about the logistics of that. It would seem this album came out about seven months after the Go-Betweens were formed. Formed in Australia. And two months after the GBs released their first single.
i am fron the 80's and i like more metal music but but but i must said this is perfect i duno i listen this song and i just have to play it all over again
what a great year for music heads bowie eno pistols now what james f******g blunt and throwaway female singers pretending to be ella fitzgerald, rant over
@watchstrap1 Yeah, it's hard to be a preschooler who doesn't listen to bedtime songs. You're a 4 year old who wishes they were born in the (18)70s, 90% of teens, etc.

Banshee scream at 3.05 is critical mass, reminiscent of Floyd. Diversity and intensity of music to end . . . . phenomenal.

I can hear the Go-Betweens here. They were clearly influenced by the greatest of the bands of the new wave.

Totally agree. This and some songs in Send Me a Lullaby sound like they were recorded by the same band
