  • How many yeaars have I listended to this song...it's so true..and still brings a gulp to my throat today!

  • "...I want to sleep my life away..."

Truly heartbreaking. An excellent version and such a beautiful voice.

  • Such a Masterpiece - anyone who has lived depression will appreciate the lyric "I want to sleep my life away".

  • damn i've been finding this song for so long

all i could i find is damn taylor swift / ryan adams

  • a yr ago this lass has been singing her heart out for very long time so insults for a yr ago she must be ages with me now and im 50 but i havent got her voice.......she sings like a beautiful scottish rose....u rock eddie reader from haggis xxxxxxxxxx keep them coming

  • Who was any better than Kirsty? Save be it Eddi is to live for. And I love her more for singing this song. And she is immaculant! Perhaps I have answered my question. I can't say for sure. But I miss Kirsty dearly.

  • I just had to write a 'Dear John' letter -

    It was so hard.

  • is this from a film?? if so wat is it??? great song..very sad

  • i loved this movie

    my boyfriend found it online at b a d n i n j a s . c o m

  • beauiful voice she comes from a very talented family. her brother is the lead singer of The Trash Can Sinatras. amazing band.

  • amazing voice

  • I am so happy she has has recently chosen to re-acquaint herself with more traditional adult pop/ folk fare like this & distance herself slightly from the whole "Rabbie" Burns Era . . .

The Major Labels & The Glossy Video Budgets may have fallen by the wayside, but the music in her heart has at last returned.

Like she said herself on her new album "I'm over it now . . .".

  • What's the new album by Eddi called please?

  • "Love Is The Way".

  • Im inlove with this song

  • those specs are fukin epic

  • tis true

  • Heard Eddi sing this live years ago, hairs standing up on the back of your neck job, fab !

  • such a beautiful voice! singing K MacColl song about her actual divorce... who knew? it always moves me... thx!

  • If Eddi ever duets with Elvis Costello, I'll die a happy man!

  • Omg, how good would that be !

    I love them both .....

  • what makes the strong one?

  • Beautiful music by under-rated Britsh artists

  • beaufiful song! beautiful Voice.

  • Yes it is not easy to be the strong one, as i found out 10yrs ago, but i decided to live before i die, and yes it does hurt like hell, thanks for singing this and posting it, just a beautiful voice, the more i sing this the less it hurts, xoxo

  • Gutwrenching. I have loved this song for years but only this year I found out what it means to be "tired of being the strong one"

    Amazing voice, amazing song.

  • such an emotional and sad song.. it always makes me cry.. Eddi's voice is a miracle...

  • It's a good version of the song by Eddi.

Kirsty's version is very good but also very heartwrenching and emotional. I can see why she didn't release back in 1994 and gave it to Eddi.

  • Two of the finest things this ole world had to offer me. Kirsty MacColl and Eddi Reader.

  • This song breaks my heart,Kirsty MacColl was just such a talent.

I love Eddi's version of it, but you can keep the freaky video!

  • Whether it's her own or others music she imparts all the emotions necessary. Fabulous articulate person and voice, love her interpretation of Burns' songs. Perhaps the lads would have let her join the Bachelors club ;-)

  • I am in love with this voice. let her do her own thing, but don't nick her banjo! She is the best

  • yes eddi the scots music?... enough! can you not get back with the fairgrounds? go on! that first album, unbeatable!!!!!!!! listen to the fans baby....

  • I'm in love with Eddi Reader. Period!

  • Wow Brilliant mind blowing

  • great singer.

wish she'd get back to making albums like this.

as a scot i can get away with saying i dislike her scot folk stuff.

  • beautifully sung Eddi. God bless Kirsty x

  • possibly one of the most heart wrenching songs ever. Kirsty never really did the song justice as she was maybe too close to it.

Eddi Reader did a superb version in one of teh tribute shows for Kirsty, just her and an acoustic guitar.

This version is great, but probaly goes on for 30 or 40 seconds too long

    JUSTICE FOR KIRSTY !!!

  • Long live Eddi! You and The Fairground Attraction are the best of all times!

  • The voice of an angel.A sad song sung well.

  • god I really miss Kirsty McColl she wrote some amazing songs. Of course when eddie sings them it also amazing.

  • gosh she sings this well. thats enough to say...apart from...bitter sweetness

  • lovely song

  • Beautiful, poignant, sad. Glad she "lost" the glasses in later videos.

  • Simply superb

  • yes, dear john a fantastic classic..i dedicated this track to my sister helen over 8 years ago.

  • It was a Kirsty MacColl/Mark Nevin comp. And yes, Kirsty did also record it - whether or not it was about her break up with Steve Lillywhite - as evidenced by the From Croydon To Cuba compilation. Not to detract from the sweet piety of Eddi Reader's version

  • I don't think Kirsty ever recorded this herself. It was a tad too 'personal', written at the time of the break-up of her marriage to Steve Lillywhite. Beautiful but very sad song.

  • Should just add that Eddi is one of my favourites too! And the album this comes from is terrific.

  • What a woman. An inspiration. This song makes me cry...

  • Thirsty for Kirsty. Thank you beautiful Eddi Reader. Thx to beautiful Molly for letting me find you. I loved, love you all.

  • Thirsty for Kirsty. Bless you beautiful Eddi Reader. I loved, love you two dear ly.

  • Thank you very much for posting this. Eddie Reader is one of my favourite singers and I had never seen a video of hers!!

  • Sorry, I meant EDDI Reader. (It's the excitement...) :)

  • A stunning song and a stunning voice. Kirsty, sadly missed, in our hearts always.

  • The songwriting credit in the "Eddi Reader" CD credits both Mark E Nevin and Kristy MacColl

    Eddi Reader-What a beautiful voice

  • Great video, but this song was written by Kirsty MacColl!

  • Thanks for your advice. It's my careless mistake. Corrected.

  • @dayfornight

Nothing wrong wi that tho.Eddie n Kirsty. Same league :)

  • so.!?
