a yr ago this lass has been singing her heart out for very long time so insults for a yr ago she must be ages with me now and im 50 but i havent got her voice.......she sings like a beautiful scottish rose....u rock eddie reader from haggis xxxxxxxxxx keep them coming
Who was any better than Kirsty? Save be it Eddi is to live for. And I love her more for singing this song. And she is immaculant! Perhaps I have answered my question. I can't say for sure. But I miss Kirsty dearly.
I am so happy she has has recently chosen to re-acquaint herself with more traditional adult pop/ folk fare like this & distance herself slightly from the whole "Rabbie" Burns Era . . .
The Major Labels & The Glossy Video Budgets may have fallen by the wayside, but the music in her heart has at last returned.
Like she said herself on her new album "I'm over it now . . .".
Yes it is not easy to be the strong one, as i found out 10yrs ago, but i decided to live before i die, and yes it does hurt like hell, thanks for singing this and posting it, just a beautiful voice, the more i sing this the less it hurts, xoxo
Whether it's her own or others music she imparts all the emotions necessary. Fabulous articulate person and voice, love her interpretation of Burns' songs. Perhaps the lads would have let her join the Bachelors club ;-)
yes eddi the scots music?... enough! can you not get back with the fairgrounds? go on! that first album, unbeatable!!!!!!!! listen to the fans baby....
It was a Kirsty MacColl/Mark Nevin comp. And yes, Kirsty did also record it - whether or not it was about her break up with Steve Lillywhite - as evidenced by the From Croydon To Cuba compilation. Not to detract from the sweet piety of Eddi Reader's version
I don't think Kirsty ever recorded this herself. It was a tad too 'personal', written at the time of the break-up of her marriage to Steve Lillywhite. Beautiful but very sad song.
How many yeaars have I listended to this song...it's so true..and still brings a gulp to my throat today!

Not bad, but prefer the vulnerability of Kirsty's demo version.

Gutwrenching. I have loved this song for years but only this year I found out what it means to be "tired of being the strong one"
Amazing voice, amazing song.

such an emotional and sad song.. it always makes me cry.. Eddi's voice is a miracle...

It's a good version of the song by Eddi.
Kirsty's version is very good but also very heartwrenching and emotional. I can see why she didn't release back in 1994 and gave it to Eddi.

Two of the finest things this ole world had to offer me. Kirsty MacColl and Eddi Reader.

beautifully sung Eddi. God bless Kirsty x

possibly one of the most heart wrenching songs ever. Kirsty never really did the song justice as she was maybe too close to it.
Eddi Reader did a superb version in one of teh tribute shows for Kirsty, just her and an acoustic guitar.
This version is great, but probaly goes on for 30 or 40 seconds too long
JUSTICE FOR KIRSTY !!!
