Some people say this is Gentle Giant's worst stuff, because it is too usual, but seriously, if it helps people to get into GG, then I like it. The song that "did it" for me was a live performance of On Reflection, but I know some guy who say they got into them because of this album.

I love and im obsessed with gentle giant earlier period. Its the first song i hear from the second period and from what i heard i thought it would be not good at all. It is not near the quality of the earlier material but i must admit i liked this song :)

They had clearly lost the vision they had earlier- probably because the record company told them to make their music "more accessible" (ie- dumb it down)

Then again, they were probably fed up of working so hard and not having any money. ("workin for years, have no moooney....")

although this is a more than nice song its not correctly depicting the band's profile. imo its one of those progrock-pops. It lacks creativity. No mellotron, standard riffs for the guitar, and even the lyrics are abit boring. If you want to see how Gentle Giant really sounds like go check "Free Hand" or "Proclamation"...

They may have changed and gone more mainstream - but they are still amazing. Gary Green's double tracked guitar is excellent!

Not heard this one before. Post punk influences in there in '78, vocals have changed and they sound mainstream. The old GG were an excellent band of musicians who were great at the instrumental parts but tried too hard with the vocals. They never reached the heights that Yes, Genesis and KG did due to their clever clever vocal sound. IMHO. Gotta laugh.
