I agree with what she chose as the songs she reviewed but up all night I think was what made other blink fans like shocked cause of how they sounded I didn't care for it but in all other word this album is a great one
i like your review, i think your kind of on the money, but to say that up all night is like their original sound is somewhat ignorant of early stuff from enema of the state
I didn't like Up All Night that much. I loved Snake Charmer, Kaleidoscope, Love Is Dangerous, Ghost On The Dance Floor and the bonus tracks from the deluxe edition. I can proudly say that Kaleidoscope is one of the best tracks I heard so far this year.
Gah, Blink-182 was amazing live. I mostly went to the Civic Tour for MCR, but I love Blink also. I remember when I was little and my sister would always listen to Blink c:
Love the review Jess, but you should really listen to "wishing well" cause tom's vocals are a cross between blink's upbeat attitude, and AVA's "spacey" sound (I love how you described some songs as spacey, cause I've been calling em spacey too! I'm not crazy! XD) and mark's vocals were amazing in Mh.4.18.2011! I love the way mark says "stop living in the shadow of a helecopter"
WooHoo!! You put up both of my comments, thanks Jess!
The only song you didnt mention that I really like is "Even If She Falls." I think it was a great way to end the album. I would totally give this album 5 out of 5 stars too. I couldnt agree with you more about everything you said. I have been a huge fan of Blink since the 90's. I can remember listening to "dude ranch" back when I was around 8 years old! Im a blink fan for life! : )
i'll give you another band that has a very inspirational message in almost ALL of their songs and yet you can still bang your head, jump and down and sing lyrics that are very meaningful....the band is RISE AGAINST, anyway good album review...neighborhoods is a really great album, but it doesnt take me back to the old nostalgic blink days and the songs, but its a pretty versatile album...they really expanded their sound...my fave songs on the album is Wishing Well, MH 4.18.2011 and After Midnight
I was disappointed by this album. People say that they matured and blah blah.. sure lyrically they have matured... but musically and song writing wise? Its pretty much plus 44 and AVA mixed together..with a touch of indie rock. which is not blink. It sounds far from their sound and songwriting style. Sure bands want to try different styles and sounds but I feel this just alienated fans who have been with blink for a long time.
@ozymay Well what are they supposed to sound like, their 90's and pre self titled pop punk selves? I think this is how they're supposed to sound given they hadn't been together for 4 years, and Tom and Mark each developed their own sounds, and just brought what they know and do to the band now. To me this is perfect and a great follow up to the self titled. To want them to go back to how they used to sound is ridiculous (not saying you but many others say they should). One of the best albums IMO
@RavenSkyhhhhh I respect your opinion. I am not saying that they should just copy one of their older albums. But to me it just doesn't sound like blink... especially in the song writing. But thats imo.
if you want to listen to some of travis' material, you should check out the rock remixes of hip hop songs he did of like soulja boy and tracks like that. Also he has his debut solo album out called give the drummer some and it's unreal! :D
After Midnight This is Home and Wishing Well are my 3 favorite songs, but really the whole album is good. Glad to see your review of it. Also less wigs. I like the natural Jess Paul.
the album was a little scattered from pure punk to Blink style to not even really punk pop. It was good but... for being away for years I thought it would be better.

I think up all night was one of the worst off the Cd.. the guitar riff just sounded like a loop that they played over & over again...

background music in this review is distracting, would of been better without. Really good review besides that problem.
