I bet these guys were smiling..they were the opening act for the Beatles.. Thats why they smile when they sing "I think it s going be alright, the worst is over now"" thinking about that paycheck they were getting. Thank you Brian Epstein and the Beatles
Not quite a one hit wonder. They had "Turn Down Day" an ok song. But this one is an all time great rocker. I love everytime I hear it. and these guys were real musicians.
Great Paul Simon writing, etc. I like how the band members loosen up, smile and share their adulation with the audience! This is genuine and heart-warming! A pop favorite of mine when I was five!
Simon did write this I think.,They did reunite for one show a decade or so ago for the hands accross america celebration, didn't see them but I heard they were great.
I bought hundreds of 45s in the late '60s and early '70s and this was the very first one I bought. These guys were very underrated. I believe the flip side of this 45 was called "How Can I Leave Her", which may have actually been an even better song.
# 30 on my top 100 songs of the 60s, also I will record this for my "Manny The Memories" CD. I did record this in 1974 on a cassettte. It took 3 cassettes, 2 (8 tracks) and 1 reel to reel. I didn"t have a mixer board then but i sang all the vocals played all the instruments all on seperate tapes. Recorded it in my basement.

Is this seriously the original group singing it when it first came out? It certainly is a very high quality if it is.

...yes, written by Simon AND Bruce from the Seekers. Dig that Gretch Bikini collapsable doubleneck guitar/bass.

Check out the guitar hand movements of the guy on the left with the double neck guitar.
Then check out the way the two guys chuckle at each other. This is a hilarious overdub of a great classic.

@clearfish Yes. Check out "Simon and Garfunkel Red Rubber Ball" and they discuss it.
