I can't help but feel as though the pretty boy version of Beast is really an imposter while the real Beast is trapped inside another tower of the castle, witnessing Belle by seduced by another man.

You have a point but I think that was unavoidable. The audience and her had JUST accepted him as a demonic Shaggy Dog and seeing him change would take a minute or so to accept. In fact the 1946 version had him take on the appearance of the man she used to love (a nicer Gaston if you will) and it takes her a moment to accept it as she had fallen for the Beast. Yet despite the fact he looked a bit less... whatever the word is, Greta Garbo still shouted "Give me back my Beast!".

And the composition -- and I'm 26 -- still brings tears to my eyes. Simply the greatest animated film of all time, and any top 100 list of any films that doesn't include it is missing out. This was Disney's masterpiece, and they did plenty of amazing work.
