there is a simplified version that is implemented in trivandrum and kochi....it involves bicycles locked with number locks....the opening codes are smsed to registered members....racks are easy to implement as it does not need much setup infrastructure...a software is developed for 24x7 response.....number locks are changed occasionally to prevent re-usage...a dropbox in each rack collects payments

It overcomes the disadvantages you have pointed out in your website. When we launched ATCAG in a private campus in early 2010, manual bike-share services were running in Delhi, Pune and we did understand that its a painful job :)

This concept has been beautifully implemented in London and Milan. But I believe Bangalore would surely be a right choice to commence this venture !
