Memoirs of a Geisha is wrong. It has the authers influences in it and they do not sell there viginity! They sell there skills not there bodys! People who think Memoirs of a Geisha is correct and refuse to believe otherwise are ignorent F*ckers
Mizuage did exist, nowadays its is forbidden! Actually geishas were servants of the tayuu and the oiran at Yoshiwara and Shimabara. Basically, tayuu and oiran disappeared because they were expensive, so men found sex pleasure in low ranking prostitutes and the skills of writing, dancing and acting of the courtesans remained in the geishas. Of course Memoirs is wrong (it didn't exist those parties to present only one msiko 4 example.Another thing, geishas never leave Japan! At least the real ones
they are so pretty..and stunning!! people who think they are all prostitutes, are dead wrong!! they just simpily follow thy're tradition and culture..i dont see why that is so bad..again they are georgious!!
wow...i dont know whether to laugh or be pissed off...someone needs to do their homework. I just came home from japan and yes...there are still geisha in the smaller towns.

I can't believe someone that speaks so secure on what he's/she's talking about, can be SO ignorant.
[even though you may know somethings about Geishas, tayuus, and Oirans]
*Geishas did practiced the mizuage. They still do, ONLY if the Geisha wants.
*Geishas were NEVER servants of the Tayuu an the Oiran!!! They just have similar things [dancing, entertaiment, etc]
*The Geishas were never allowed to have sex with clients [only excepting the mizuage]. That's why the "Red District" existed.

I agree with angeleyes.
I'm studying traditional japanese dances and...that's not very traditional...
And they don't move like dancers, they look more like girls with a kimono and a weird choreography.
.....poor geishas

This is not the dances that Geisha would do...this folk dancing that you would usually see during obon festival.

They look beautiful. And these fans always work so Hypnotizing.
This gives me goosebumps, I love it.

they were very beutiful but a geisha would never dance to that music and would never make such drastic movements
angeleyes42087 4 years ago 3
yeah, the music their dancing to is more modernized and not exactly traditional.
It is pretty music though.
MiMiMimink 3 years ago
