If he had fought, people would say that Imam(AS) was greedy for the throne and not Islam. In Kerbala, it was clear Imam Hussain was fighting for Islam and nothing else. And his sahabas were not there because the were obligated to, it was there free will.

Along with him Abu Bakr, Aisha, Uthman, Thalah & Zubair, and all the Muslims of the state had gone one by one to do bayt of Imam Ali(AS). Now shouldn't it be clear who the rightful Caliph is. And by Caliph, Rasool Allah didn't mean ruler of the state, but ruler of this world and next.

You have to look at this issue in different stages.
1. Mutah was condemned by Umar during his caliphate as it was allowed during Abu Bakrs caliphate.
2. Surah 4 Verse 24 mentions it. According to Umar in Sahih Muslim it was ordered in the Quran, if it wasn't the Mutah of Hajj, what was it?
3. If the law is sent by Allah, who is a normal person to change it? Even Prophet pbuh never changed, just announced it. Purpose of Islam is to relieve hardship on mankind in every way possible.

@aamirabdulsalam Imam Hasan(AS) did not endorse Muwayia lanathAllah. Imam Hasan(AS) had an option to fight or sign a kind of peace treaty. If he had fought, people would say that Imam(AS) was greedy for the throne and not Islam. In Kerbala, it was clear Imam Hussain was fighting for Islam and nothing else. And his sahabas were not there because the were obligated to, it was there free will.

But that was not the case as you know also, the Caliph was chosen AFTER his lifetime whereas Gadir was during.

No one would know better about what Imam Ali(AS) thinks of the world and its people other than himself. His own words are the best source, which are recorded in the Nahjul Balagah.
In Kitab al-Irshad, it specifically says WHY Imam(AS) gave his sons the name. And the other sons of Imam Ali(AS) are not even equal to "The Sons Of Paradise"...

Along with him Abu Bakr, Aisha, Uthman, Thalah & Zubair, and all the Muslims of the state had gone one by one to do bayt of Imam Ali(AS). Now shouldn't it be clear who the rightful Caliph is.
