Digimon isn't like Pokémon, they don't just have one evolution line and that's it. They can become a whole bunch of different Digimon. Take Agumon for example, it has a lot of Champions:

Greymon, BlackGreymon, Tyrannomon, BlackTyrannomon, GeoGreymon, Numemon, Devimon... And more.

some evolutionary lines have a primary final form, introduced as an entire evolutionary line in one game and one that is introduced later....

Sorta like how aguman is intended to be, in our minds at least, greymon/geogreymon, while having more evolutions, albiet digimon has much more in that idea though.

The closest they got was probably Eevee...
