I stuck the wire through the styrofoam balls one at a time and then we put glue on them so they would not move. Check the other comments about the size of the balls to make it accurate or check with your teacher. I hope this helps you.
I have a project like that were you make a model, you have to make a 5 paragraph essay about your element and you have to do an oral presentation! She only gave us a week to do it and it is worth most of our grade. CRAP! I am freaking out... Well I guess I am lucky! I got the easiest element in the grade! Hydrogen!! No neutrons, just one proton and one electron... I think I will use marshmallows...
in your model the electrons are bigger than the neutrons and protons. since it's supposed to be the other way around, we used 10 mm pompoms for the protons and neutrons (black and white) and hot glued them into a ball with a piece of 30 gauge wire running through the center. we used 5 mm plastic beads strung onto rings of 20 gauge wire for the electrons and electron shells, hot glued so they wouldn't slide to the bottom of each ring. video response will follow.

@samandsuki123
Check wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_neutrons_does_argon_have
22 neutrons
18 electrons
18 protons
Also make sure about the proper size of the neutrons. Read previous comments.

- The core ball is also a Styrofoam ball a little bigger (Michaels stores)
- Cotton red/green balls (Michaels stores)
