  • i think is -tough- instead of -touch-

  • ...since beginning THIS time...

  • @banananer16 no it's -beginning-less time-

    avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Lion_Turtle

  • Thumbs up. I love the Lion Turtle.

"Before the era of the Avatar, we bend not the elements, but the energy within ourselves."

  • On avatar the lion turtle is one of my favorites because he's so wise.

  • Does anyone know what that chant/prayer is? It gives me goosebumps, also this show made me think a lot about life, and i started meditating, Its weird but i get a crazy yet beautiful meaning from this show, And i know im not alone.

  • @UnintindidDeath It is a Buddhist chant, spoken like this: "Na Mo A Mi Tuo Fo Shin Di", and translates to "Blessed be Amitabha Buddha"

  • Narasimh - was the half lion half man incarnation of lord Vishnu - the preserver facet of the supreme consciousness manifested in the material world -this consciousness (the supreme buddha) who is without gender, form or name transcends good/and, happy/sad, evil/good

NB - Lord Gautama Buddha was also an incarnation of Vishnu, as was Narasimha

Narasimhi is the energy/cause of Narasimh - his consort in a metaphysical / divine sense - she is also known as Pratyangira:

  • @KittenBazooka No, I don't think you understand the concept. If you did you wouldn't think it was random. It isn't random. The Lion-Turtle "shows up" when Aang is nearing the point of enlightenment. The "journey" Aang has is as much metaphysical and philosophical as it is "real". Aang's "journey" is a journey towards enlightenment.

Because of that I don't think its deus ex machina per se. It is simply the natural, and appropriate, progression.

Either way, we can agree to disagree.

  • @KittenBazooka You sound like someone who learned a new phrase and now must use it. Look at it in ATLA context, in particular the religious, philosophical, and cultural context. The Turtle-Lion is a god-like figure that is giving Aang the last bit of knowledge before he attains enlightenment. The Amitabha, which is what the Turtle-Lion's music is referencing, suggests that is the point where Aang is at.

  • @KittenBazooka put that in google >.>

  • @KittenBazooka you dont know much about Avatar do you? how bout learning on Avatar Wiki

    avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Lion_Turtle

  • @KittenBazooka You Idiot the Lion Turtle comes when he is needed most!..why do you think the Lion turtle is rare to see? because he shows up when the world most desperately needs him..Idiot

  • @slingernoob356 Exactly, just like Narasimha, the half-man, half-lion avatar of Vishnu comes to help a little boy, Prahlad, defeat the evil king, so does the Lion-Turtle at the moment Aang and the world needs him.

  • @CharvakaJim Thanks for explaining to that guy, he does not understand concept! thank you!

  • @slingernoob356 No worries. Sometimes you just need a little more information to be able to see another layer. Avatar is like how the Simpsons used to be. You could watch it just to enjoy, or you could look, and read, into the esoteric meanings. He/She just didn't understand the purpose of the Lion Turtle is all. :)

  • I've gotta say, this saying is truly meaningful! Lately i've been feeling down but after i heard this saying...its like it gave me new purpose! I will not forget this!

  • @edrb1990 thx for ur honest talking out.

  • @edrb1990 thx for ur honest talking out.

  • Lion-Yurtle: Cthulhu, but without all the madness.

  • @Laroling then don't watch this video because your whining isn't welcome?

  • @Laroling hahah I like ur comment.. everyone has the right to say what his /her feelings are about

    so thx for ur criticism.

  • @Laroling If you understand the philosophical, religious, and cultural references the turtle-lion represents maybe you'd understand why it was necessary.

  • @CharvakaJim I might understand philophically, religiously and culturally why it was there....But that doesn't mean it's always plotwisely a good addition. I just think the timing of adding a lionturtle was bad and with so much things going on in a show that only had 3 episodes left a bad decision to make to add it. But in the end I watched the whole thing back and didn't think it that bad as I remembered...I was watching it with a damn perfectionist eye and it's still a great show.

  • @Laroling There are numerous references to the Lion Turtle throughout the show. Subtle references like scriptures with a Lion Turtle on them, stuff like that.

Philosophically, religiously, and even story-line wise, it was the inevitable way for Aang to the deed if you will. I wasn't surprised that's how he figured it out. That's how it had to be for him to reach enlightenment. From Lord Vishnu itself.

  • @CharvakaJim fair enough, but I didn't see them.. I understand the lionturtle fits within the avatar realm with ancient creatures, aswell as references to Hinduism, Buddha etc. but I would have liked some sort of different 'plotagent' that motivated aang not to kill the firelord. Some plotagent that covered aswell this ideology as got linked important subplots (Iroh and the spiritworld for example) instead of adding another small mini subplot. It would have been less 'spider-man 3'.

  • @Laroling What would be a more appropriate plot-agent? In the story of Prahlad, Vishnu descends (that's what avatar means) as Narasimha, the half-Lion/Half-Man. He helps protect Prahlad from FIRE, and then destroys the evil King who was trying to destroy him. What's a more appropriate plot agent then have a Vishnu-avatar like character teach Aang the last step of enlightenment? So he can defeat the Firelord without using violence? Maybe they could have done better, but I can't think of it.

  • @CharvakaJim well, I named some stuff I personally thought would have been better. Mythology wise the theme might fit brilliantly, but personally I care more about what parts and elements of the story got the most emphasis WITHIN the actual plot space of the show itself (also because most kids just don't know about vishnu..or me unless it's told within the show) and I think this felt too 'thrown in last-minute' but again, that's my opinion and I get where you are coming from. my last troll lol.

  • as I see it for example those 'scriptures' were seeming rather unimportant next to the iconic white lotus tiles, maybe even drawings of dragons and statues of posing firebenders or the dragon egg that represented Zuko's and the firenations future, the image of iroh's son/his grave, or the image of Zuko's mom to name some examples. I wish the creators used a plotagent that tied more to these elements. it would have made it more of a less shattered whole around the end IMO.

  • This is one of the very few shows that can be entertaining to little ones, yet when you watch it when ur older you can get the FULL meaning of the show, and im 16 i think this was one of the most complex shows out there considerign there are so many points of view comign from all kingdoms. This was one of my favorite scenes btw, thanks for posting

  • my body starts to vibrate with the sound of the chant, my mind centers with the words its saids. it funny that from a little kid show something wonderfull is created.

  • @cybernako088 this show isnt a kids show really ...

to be honest -- it helds more wisdom and truth than any other stupid "kid show "

I ve ever seen, so I think ur way of feelings are kinda same to mine ;)

    thx for comment

  • @xDheNgzTxD true, just like iroh, ok much kids understand he is the good guy , but he plays the one of the most improtant role in the serie's yes, the show is not for kids it has humor for smaller kids 2 but to understand the story you got to be a bit older ;)

  • yes you are correct, like many shows that people assume r created for children they r mistaken. Shows like Avatar and Samurai Jack have such depth and truth in them, but they r looked over by the masses because they are animation

Avatar for me, is a look back into our ancient past A time where we humans were in-tuned with ourselves, nature and the universe.

This show has such depth and meaning to me, most people would not understand. This quote can give anyone truth strength to face anything

  • @cybernako088 The chant is actually an old Buddhist chant.

  • @almostinsane99 yes i researched its beautiful. peace
