  • At 14:00 when he goes out. His cards were Q of <3 and a 5 of spades. you can see this at 14:03 at the right moment. I started playing with 50free2play.co.cc bonus given to me last week.

  • I heard a lot of people have begun to worry on about how hard the poker training is. But it is easy now when 50free2play.co.cc is here. Lot of people realize that actulay...

  • 1:02 kills me every time.

  • Is anybody interested in winning the lottery? This technique is simple and easy!

  • Martin Short is a troubled man..

  • I love him!

  • I'm over here with tears in my eyes....CRYING. That tidbit was funny as j(h)ell-0

  • Oh my god, that's hysterical! Great story!!

  • "so I just assumed Johnny had eaten it" haha he's so hilarious!

  • This is a particularly good Letterman appearance for Martin Short. It used to be on YouTube uncut. I wish someone would upload the whole thing again. With Mr. Short sidelined for an indeterminate period by his wife's passing, us Marty addicts have to be content with re-runs. Fortunately one can watch his stuff over and over and still get a kick out of it. Condolences to him and please, please, please, when you're comfortable with it, do come back, Mr. Short, to your fans.

  • @ironpirites ...Marty will be on Letterman tomorrow, Wednesday January 19th, 2011 :) Enjoy :)

  • @ezziboo Thanks for the heads up. I missed it unfortunately but I'll be looking for it on YouTube.

  • jonny carson is the devil's son!

  • @JesseLee85719 What I meant to say was Johnny Carson is like SO FUNNY! I used to fall in love with him when I was little.

  • @JesseLee85719 Sadly, I wish I could have met him if only he did not die in 2005.

  • ok after watching Spiderwick i found out Martin did the voice of ThimbleTack <3 so thats were i heard of Martin short for the first time and ever sence them i love martin!

  • david is a worthless piece of human waste. I thought this was Carso, as the title says.

  • The most interesting and, perhaps, telling aspect of this conversation is that David was NOT invited to any of Johnny's poker games. Doesn't square with the rumor that Johnny really wanted Letterman, not Leno, to be his replacementt.

    Who knows?

I found Letterman to be quite funny til he blundered in over his head (by his own admission) into political discussion. A few other celebrities have in similar fashion neutralized the humor of their shows.

    Candice Bergen comes to mind.

  • @mojocracker1 Yeah I remember thinking that the first time I saw this clip, but maybe Letterman just doesn't play poker... haha

  • @mojocracker1 Letterman wasn't invited because he was 3000 miles away. Johnny lived in Malibu and shot the show in Burbank, CA. Letterman did Late Night in New York, so how he was going to get to Johnny's place while working I don't know.

  • @tartfuel And Johnny not only wanted David to get the tonight show, he was so angry at NBC for not giving it to him and refused to ever appear on Leno's show. Meanwhile Johnny regularly faxed over monologue jokes to the Late Show offices (and got paid scale for each joke Dave ended up using). He also appeared several times on The Late Show, all the while rebuffing Leno's Tonight Show.

  • @ 1:01 you can see how Dave was the era apparent as he knew Johnny's looks. Classic!

  • @lukeallyn It's "heir" apparent. Not era. An era is a period of time. And David Letterman isn't qualified to carry Johnny Carsons' dirty underwear to the hamper. Carson made me laugh more times in one night than Letterman has in 20 years. Letterman is not funny; not interesting; and a crappy interviewer.

  • @loungelizard5000 You grow up.

  • That was funny lmao

  • Classic comedy from the roots of SCTV . From the same mold as John Candy, Joe Flaherty & Rick Moanis. The good old days of Guy Cabliero, Edith Prickley & REAL comedy.

  • There is only Mounties and Indians in Canada,I saw the olympics and that proved my point.

  • potato on johnny so martin said herrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrres the potato LOL

  • You know something is funny when Dave can't stop laughing.

  • and your typical american complaining about a guy complaining about american humor when the guy telling the joke is actually Canadian.

  • @alex9044 dont talk about americans as if they're primitive you bafoon you probably live in england and you guys have kings and queens and jesters and fairies prancing around talk about primitive your country needs to realize that this isn't the 12th century

  • i can listen to this story over and over again lol

  • Martin Short is fantastic. A legend.

  • Absolutely. The guy's amazing. One of the best of all time and IMO not fully appreciated.

  • a CANADIAN legend

  • Martin Short is substancially funny

His name is not dropped enough when counting down Canada's funniest exports

  • ehhh

  • The reason why his stories are so freaking hilarious is because he doesn't take himself seriously. He's a modest comedian!!!

  • Quite right. Jack Benny once famously advised a young Bob Newhart that, "A comic says funny things. But a comedian says things funny." Martin Short epitomizes that distinction. A good "comic" comes up with funny jokes and one-liners, which certainly takes talent. But a comedian like Short could read from the phone book, or simply count to ten, and still be funny. What an artist!

  • Dear lionofthejungle,

You're right. He's humble. That's because he's Canadian. lol I used to watch him perform at Second City here in Toronto in the late 70's. He was always amazing..

  • Canadians are the most self-absorbed people on planet Earth (all exceptions duly noted), which is one reason the talented ones move to the US, where the rewards are greater but you actually have to prove yourself.

    Signed,

    A Canadian

  • and people who generalize against/about an entire population are idiots.

  • agreed!

  • I met Martin Short before. He's actually really short, but a super-nice guy!

  • "but"?

    Are you Randy Newman? :-)

  • Martin needs to in more new movies!
