  • the qualieety of the videio is terible for they just show the same thing what I wouldl ike to see is what GM called called a suberan they had chiose of a six or eight and aumatic tranmision or four speed non sincrow the eight and four speed was I would think for over the raod oh, gm did not want to put labertorys in the for some reason i would like to see a vidio a discription of sheeoing a walkaroudn an unlikee so a many videio shifting gears doulbe clutching and at what wpeeds

  • so do you buy these

  • What kind of TRANNY did these fishbowls have B4 the 4sp ATs?

  • That engine transmission was STUNNING!!! Oh, and

is that bus to the left a EX-WMATA or EX-NJCTA Flxible Metro-B?

  • I kinda miss the days of bus fumes...

  • @1985jon wmata startd buying these in 86 after they stopped rebuilding all of these which were in revenue service through the 90's

  • @1985jon Looks like an 88. We had those same here in puerto rico. 88 ,90, 91 ,95 models. 88,90 and 1995 were my favorite models. Especially 95

  • Your are possibly right: It could be either 6V or 8V. Obviously the bigger of the two is more powerful. It can also provide sufficient power to run the a/c. Both the extra load on the generator and the compressor drive.

  • Man Memories riding around with Maryland and Dc on that bus with my mom when I was small.

  • Long Live GM!! Long Live Detroit Diesel. There is nothing like the sound of an 8v71. How about with Jake Brakes??

Also electronics FREE which means reliability.

Cummins M11's are the size of 6-110 Detroits. Can you imagine if GM had engineered them in trucks, buses and coaches?

    Remember MCI's MC-6 model with a 12v71?

The combination also of 8v71 and 4 Speed Dana or 5 Speed Fuller transmission was invincible. Compare it with those synchro euro boxes that left reliability way behind.

  • @pioneermci I think it's actually a Detroit Diesel 6V71, not 8V71.

  • LOL! I saw myself walking onto the bus! Wait until you see my 30 seconds of this bus on my page! WHEW! Great times!

  • it looks like the one Sandra Bullock drove in Speed she was gr8 driving that bus gr8 sounds anybody know where the one Sandra Bullock drove is it Preserved or scrapped?

  • Yes, it was a "fishbowl" in Speed (what other bus could one use, this is THE bus) :-)

Anyway, according to Wikipedia there were 12 fishbowls used for the movie, 2 of them blown to pieces. Doesn't say what happened to the rest of them.

  • HBO had a contest after showing Speed you had to answer a few questions to be elligible to win the bus I entered - don't know who won it

  • The Bus you are referring too is not a 1964F, its a GM TDH-5303 Fishbowl.

  • Who cares ?! That movie was retarded !!!!

  • I take it that's an air hose they used to air up the Fishbowl's tank to hit the starter with? They've got the DD revving so long it seems like it's an attempt at getting it to biuld its own air pressure.

    -Cody

  • Usually, it should be under 5 minutes for the engine to develop its own air pressure.

  • one of the fishbowls CTHA has has an air leak in a check valve that makes it loose air and the front suspension drop after 5 minutes of being shut off, so it needs to be revved for a while to build it back up... I actually have a video of a guy doing that.

  • I saw that one... it is of TANK (Transport of Northern Kentucky) 1980.
