  • ian astbury is proof that if you can sing your ass off. you dont need effects to make you sound tollerable. ;)/

  • great song!

  • Whoever inserted the term "High Quality Video" in this video's title line needs to have their eyes checked. Great song nonetheless.

  • Most dynamic frontman I have ever seen. Pure class

  • Cant wait to cover this at our show on Friday.. Favorite song of the Cult...

  • man these guys dressed funny back then

  • Before Ian Astbury was in the Cult he was in an obscure 60's band named the Doors. They would famously reunite in the year 2000.

  • @dropway9 Please tell me you're kidding.

  • @dropway9 lolz

  • As sexy as they were I think they are total GODS now & the hottest sexiest band ever in 2011! It's just too much how hot I get from The Cult!

  • @eveliofazewife Yes some 50 year old geezers????? You must be also past your sell by date too! To be honest a band can never recapture the greatness of their youth. I loved the band when I too was young...but hey that was just a passing fancy..though I still yearn for those care-free days......oh to the folly and recklessness of youth!

  • Absolute fuckin' class.... :o)

  • Anyone know what year this is, (early 85 or 84)? They changed their look dramatically within the next two or so years. At least by 1988.

  • Here Comes Lorraine

    I Love Lorraine! :-)

  • Absolutely amazing performance!

  • Totally amazing! those were nice times

  • How weird is that - just from listening to the song I imagined it being played on a Gretch White Falcon...and here he is playing it on the afore mentioned guitar.

Is there any more footage of this particular concert? This is just about my favorite thing on youtube. If you have any more can you share it?

  • When I was a kid, I thought this guy was Native indian lolol. Anyone else make that mistake?

  • excellent singing on this tune...i wonder why he doesn't sing like this often now.

  • great footage of the Cult. especially with Nigel Preston, and Jamie Stewart.

  • @duveimperial Thats not Nigel Preston, its Les Warner. :)

  • great footage of the Cult. especially with Nigel Preston, and Jamie Stewart.

  • This is the song I often need when I've been without any Cult for a day and am getting twitchy.... would kill for a bootleg with this on. But Ian looks so sweet, pink flower on jacket, it's hard to believe his notorious hotel and instrument-smashing habits.

  • I saw this band in '87 opening for billy idol on their electric tour. They performed in southern wisconsin and i'd never heard of em before. Hardly anybody sat in the stands or paid attention to them and they got pissed off.

  • IAN KOK ZALUBLENA V TVOJO INDIJANSKO GRIVO K JO Z ENE STRANI VRŽŠ NA DRUGO PA PADE K SLAP...HERE COMES THE RAIN..HERE SHE COMES AGAIN.I LOV THE RAIN,,,IF YO KNOW WHAT I DO THINK...GRRRRR

  • Finally getting a thunderstorm here in Mid-Michigan... And I thought of this song, and wallah! Here you go folks. In an embarrassing moment of self effacement, I will openly admit that I wanted to be like Ian Atsbury for a while (late college, and early years living in Chicago). I got the hair and the partying correct, but couldn't seem to really want to be a rock star! Fortunately, I didn't get all fat and stupid like Ian in his later years!

  • Ian's voice was so crsip back then, haunting even. He's still amazing with his raspy-rock style, but damn he was smooth on the mic in those days! I remember some bootleg Love concert recording making the rounds in the mid 80's, made me fall in love with the band, and they sounded just like this!

  • Happy Birthday Ian Astbury!!!

  • Class. I've never seen this before.

They were the band that brought rock to me in 1987 with Electric. But this era brought me the dark goth rock.

This band are my adolescence more than any other.

  • uh...Wow. Ian was powerful with the voice this performance.

  • Surely Ian's best era...

  • @NoizeKommando

    without a doubt....

but He still has a Powerful Voice♥

  • I LOve The Cult and this song Ian sings it better than Ever...

  • great song for a rainy day like today!

  • Cool is this an old Fever Tree Cover ?

  • The song "Rain" is an original by The Cult

  • great times,what a musical backdrop

  • just saw them last week and they still sounds awesome

both billy and ian were unreal

  • I just saw them 2 days ago and I agree completely! They rock as hard as ever!!! I met and got some pictures with Ian and also John Tempesta...one of the best nights of my life! LOVE THE CULT!!!

  • Instantly recognisable sound - Astbury's vocals and Duffy's guitar - fantastic!

  • this is off The Tube

  • it was deffo Bliss, filmed in Carlisle, probs the only thing Border TV did that was any good

  • Sienfeld = aging Jewish comedian past his "funny" prime

Ian Astbury = multi talented musician / vocalist whos career spanned over 30 years

(of course Ian rocks ANY shirt better!) ;o)

  • Seinfeld could not rock the Puffy Shirt -- but Ian can!!

  • My favorite song from the Cult....and of all time :D

    lol

    Pretty sexy stuff, right?

  • Mine is 83rd Dream. Anyway, early Cult was awesome, then something bad happened, after the AC/DC-style good album in the 90s.

  • i couldn't agree more....Love was the bomb and they were really on to something magical and innovative and then they went biker metal....ugh!

  • What a great band, I followed them through the eighties and still do...they are unique and alternative...long live the cult

  • thought the cult were brill wen i was in my teens , was a goth at the time, stil love she sells santuary !!!!

  • I've never seen a man soo kissable or worthy of a wet dream. Even now <3

  • I absolutely agree with your assessment!!! He is absolutely de-luscious!!!! Drool!

  • Yes, mmmmmmmm...***deep sigh***

  • yep, wow

I forgot how much I lusted after Ian... this vid brings it all back :P

  • @moon8woman WORD girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3

  • @moon8woman

    Right on....

  • @moon8woman you read my mind puuurrrrrrfect, I loved him back then too;)

  • ive seen then in all 3 incarnations southerh/death/and just the Cult, where are ye now?

  • Was at this down the front of stage tho there wouldn't be more than about 80 people there.

Was filmed at Carlisle television centre.

They positioned cameras to make it look busy.

Had some good bands there for the Bliss programme.

  • That's amazing! I would've killed to have seen them live back in '85. They were at the top of their game then. Very cool.

  • I thought i was cool back then too lol

  • Awesome!!!! This is The Cult at their most unique! The "Dreamtime-Love" period is without a doubt their greatest one...artistically, at least...commercial success is a whole different story...

  • Used to have all these on VHS! Thanks again
