  • good song but you suck man !!!

  • Thanks for this.

  • great

  • Thank you so much!! You really helped me

  • it's pronounced 'kay-poh'

  • Nice Vid. I would also recommend going to nickdraketabsdotcom for the best tablature. That's how I learned this song and several others.

The tricky bit of Road is that bass part, and from personal experience the best advice I can give anyone is to simply play with the tablature in front of you VERY slowly several hundred times until you get it right. It took my a week or so as I recall.

And yes the correct tuning is EADEBE. The troll is completely wrong.

  • Great Video! I just started listening to Nick and this is one of my favorites. You are the only one on youtube that I've found who is brave enough to teach this amazing song. Thanks.

  • thank you :)

  • Thanks a lot for this, and pay no attention to the mealy mouthed critics. I've been listening to this for twenty odd years. Now, with a new set of strings and ten minutes with your vid I'm playing one of the all time classics. You are a star (and a fellow scouser too perhaps?)!

  • Done and Done!

Awesome Lesson Man. Clear explanations with no confusion.

    5*

  • Too many f****** smart arses in this world, great video thanks! Gringo indeed!

  • @ThePonchogringo If you know how to play the song why are you trolling this vid? I checked your channel for the correct way to play and tune but wasn't there?! Go away, my videos are not for people who already know it all and have nothing to contribute. I may be wrong, I may not, I'm not discussing it with a troll. I may suck at tutorials but you, sir, suck at life.

  • @G0liath1012 Very well said, your response to the troll is as good as your tutorials.

  • @ThePonchogringo I have tried it in DGDDAD and this version is more accurate, the "bridge section isn't playable properly in DGDDAD as far as I can see.

  • @ThePonchogringo Do better, then.

  • Great lesson! Thank you!!

  • Hey, is there any sheet music or tab online? I need it to be able to transmit this song for GCSE.

  • @SAMDARBY123 type w w w then the following - chrish.ndo.co.uk

  • THANK YOU!!

  • the best online tutorial ive seen for Nick, you're legend man, please show me Which Will

  • thanks man, great job!

  • This is incredibly helpful, thanks so much.

  • you nailed it man. sweet lesson!

  • whats the tunning of this song, and whats the fret that the capo is placed in?

  • @Miguelz1989 EADEBE Capo 2nd fret.

  • So it is the standard tuning with a string down a couple steps?

  • @Skooma714 yeah i ran through the tuning change at 1 min into the video. You tune the 3rd string (G string) down to an E note, by fretting the 4th string (D string) on the 2nd fret and tuning the 3rd down to that note.

  • Thanks to this vid I'm working on right hand calluses, thought I'd only need them on the left! This is really a great tune and well taught, thanks for it.

  • @chancafer haha yeh, fingerpicking can give you good calluses haha

  • My favorite part

"If I'm going a bit too quick just slide the bar back watch the video again practice it and move on..." hahaha awesome video

  • awesome video thanks so much

  • When playing and singing this song, should it sound like the guitar part is a bit slower than the rhythm of the words? sort of like off-beat?

  • your videos are great man. great help. keep it up:-)

  • anyone know how to tune the guitar to BEBEBE for chime of a city clock and man in a shed? are the Bs the same B annd the Es the same E ?

  • @issystardust thinnist E B stay the same and you just tune G down to E D down to B

A down E and top is thickest E down to B basically all down mate....

  • @efcgarv thankyou!

  • You have done a great job. This song just makes me feel good and I had to learn it. Nick drake is one of my favorites right now and learning his songs would really help me develop my fingerstyle playing some more. You are a great help. A huge thank you!

  • I like your guitar man, what's the make of it?

  • @sleepyduo37 Hey, the guitar is a Yamaha LA-8.

  • @G0liath1012 how wuld be played whit no capo

  • Helped me alot

    thankyou

  • you would be doing me a very helpful favour if you made a vid based on the different picking variations cos i jus couldnt follow the fingers properly when doing it
