  • Love his style and stage presence it's perfect!

  • lol this kicks ass

  • this is amazing

  • is completely different from goth in sound and MAYBE you'll figure this shit out. I'd tell you to actually go listen to some emo, but most of the good emo bands aren't always playing emo and you'd probably mistakenly search up screamo, which is even more COMPLETELY UNRELATED.

  • @GuyNamedSean Why are you talking about emos on a bauhaus music video?

  • Just like to note that most of you in this comment board are ripping on emo because you think they stole from goth and fucked it up. The reason everyone thinks that is because some stupid motherfucker saw the emo kids wearing dark makeup and dying their hair black and immediately assumed that it has something to do with goth. You guys are making the same stupid ass mistake. Two things in common doesn't constitute a rip-off. Add on the fact that emocore

  • i got pretty stoned to this song a few times in the mid 80's :)

  • Awww shit. Bela Lugosi's Dead? Great... Terrorize a couple and kill a colonel.

  • Happy Halloween 2011!!! (^:^)

  • Oct 30th 2011! Happy Hallows Eve!!!

  • Have ALWAYs loved this...was one of my "anthems" as a young drugged out punk..:)

  • I never liked emo goth kids who dressed up, but today I see emo goth kids dress up to the mainstream bands Marilyn manson or lady gaga or three days grace. How do you dress up goth and not know who Bauhaus or joy division or ministry or Skinny puppy is....its totally fucked up and lame.

  • @TheNineinchsnails wait, did you say three days grace?! wtf??! o.0

  • @purplishhue its a shitty band.

  • @TheNineinchsnails LOL i know they suck. I'm more baffled why emo goth's be going dressed up to them!

  • 4:35 reminds me of Pulp Fiction when John Travolta opens the briefcase.. hehe

  • I'M IN MY 30'S, DON'T EVER COMPARE CLASSIC GOTH MUSIC TO THE EMO SHIT THAT'S BEEN MADE SINCE THE NEW MILLENNIUM!GOTH ROCK = CLASSIC & EMO=REGURGITATED SHIT!

  • RIP Béla

  • One of my all time favs but feel sorry for the sad and lonely ones that dont realise that the undead are as unreal as the mythical characters in that fictional work called the erm, what was it called , oh yes, the bible.

  • can i be 16 again?

  • This song. . . is my lullaby. long live Bauhaus!

  • i'll be around for another few centuries and be listening to this on my mp implants

  • @AlmostEnglish

Hey now- have you ever even heard of Indian Summer?

  • This is art-pure art. In 200 years' time, people will listen to it and think: "wow I wished I'd lived this time."

  • Very strangely attractive lead vocalist. Werewolves and vampires really do exist if you take the myth away, serial killers and generally anyone else who hides behind chaos unable to express themselves in this world of sex and drugs.

  • korey and the co-host sent me

  • @ DJmixmastermicro Emo is an INSULT to Bauhaus. And YOU think that you also can combine combine goth with emo. Fuck off you stupid poser.

  • Peter Murphy=love

  • TRUE goth music

  • I love this band. Awesome as fuck. Bauhaus, Joy Division, The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees... Gotta love those English bastards.

  • @holdengood hell yeah and some more.

  • emos are wankers .. this is iconic

  • oh goths and emos are from a youth culture long buried with lugosi.......just enjoy

  • @artist20111000 completely agreed

  • I've only heard three of their songs so far but I already think they are my favourite band

  • @CLOSED0WN you werent even alive back then, so yes, you most likely get all your info from a teen magazine. not from direct experience, so stop being an arrogant and rude little piggy.

  • saw him years ago in new orleans at the Saenger. he was singing Prince songs....it was just terrible. i do love that crazy ass voice of his

  • @CLOSED0WN. you are the troll. you are the one who trolled my comment. you have a headache because you are ignorant and dont know what actually happened in music in the 80s. go back to your teen magazines, LMAO!!

  • @CLOSED0WN, LOL! wow so ignorant, you use those journalists genre labels invented in the 90s and 2000s for an era of music that didnt have them, and music was less divided. Yes you are ignorant indeed. LOL! you get your facts from what? a teen magazine? LOL

  • @CLOSED0WN. um, no. you are wrong, its hot in hell, take some ice. LOL

  • timeless masterpiece........

  • Comment removed

  • turn the fucking mic up you idiots

  • @CLOSED0WN. lol. um no, emos came out of goths. LOL.

  • I never bother too much with ones that dislike tracks that I love. Only few people born the be a president. Only few people born with the guts and fate to understand this kind of material (I believe it´s a gift!!). The rest are doomed to listen to popshit or whatever they think music is. This is Bauhaus´s masterpiece but all albuns are more than great. Long live Bauhaus!!!

  • haha.

    I'm comment 666.

  • this is sound art. but music,...no

  • @neerpeltbelgium so you want to tell me that music cant be sound and art ?

  • the origin of EMO and GOTHS

  • @DJmixmastermicro that is an insult to this band calling them the origin of emo

  • MASTERPIECE

  • bitch

  • c

    co

    coo

    cool

  • daft sods

  • Mesmerising. I first saw them supporting at Magazine in Edinbro'o. Still love that.

  • The video is as amazing as "BAUHAUS" and the ones who dont think so....can bite me!!

  • one of the best songs ever

  • this song rocks hard

  • Going to see Peter Murphy tomorrow night at the Granada in Dallas can't wait

  • @GOODOLREBEL lucky bastard

  • @GOODOLREBEL What?!!! LUCKY!

  • Still a lasting work of art after all this time!

  • Pete Murphy at his best...a Masterpiece that will stand the test of time

  • @gothic0204 and you can totally kill yourself to it!!

  • Awesome, probably the best of Bauhaus Pete Murphy has an amazing presence on stage . I agree with Queenofdarkness665, it is truly a masterpiece!!!

  • Amazing !

  • Lyrics: White on white translucent black capes Back on the rack Bela Lugosi's dead The bats have left the bell tower The victims have been bled Red velvet lines the black box Bela Lugosi's dead Undead undead undead The virginal brides file past his tomb Strewn with time's dead flowers Bereft in deathly bloom Alone in a darkened room The count Bela Logosi's dead Undead undead undead
  • ahhhhhhhhh give me a spoon and some whipped cream.... Peter would be a tasty tasty little snack.... sexy

  • classic

  • the stats speak for itself_ ya dont like it...go watch something else. Bauhaus/Love and Rockets/PeterMurphy rocks

  • souvenirs d'ado ...

  • Those were the days

  • NOW I see what all the hype is about... Kick ass SONG! XD

  • Wow, you don't have to take drugs to be a rock star... What a dumbass

  • Sounds a lot like early doors live. Simple repeating base riff with sporadic guitars and a trance prone, overly dramatic singer. But I guess everything spawns out of something. I hope they were heavily influenced by drugs as well, otherwise its just kinda silly.

  • @JimmyKnax bacause you DO have to take drugs to be a real rock star.

  • @JimmyKnax because you DO have to take drugs to be a real rock star.... or what ?

  • 33 people without soul....is not so bad! Is the yin and the yang the most beautiful thing has within it's heart a speck of negativity such is life and this song remains forever gorgeous and sensuous nuff said

  • Gods i love this song

  • ahhhhhh

the very song that sprouted the gothic subculture

    kickass song

  • i think i have finally fallen in love.

  • MASTERPIECE

  • I saw Bauhaus few years ago in NYC...Murphy is bald but that's not an insult...it's happens.

One thing that stuck in my mind was Murphy did not speak to the audience , not even a 'thank you."

The band just played song after song and their was no connection with the audience.

I was, at first, a bit surprised......was this reunion only for the money and not the fans?

Then I figured it was cool that there was no emotion or sentiment ...it had the "just play the fucking music" thing going on.

  • @Eston83 I dunno, it doesn't sound cool to me. You're putting money in these people's pockets...they should be gracious. They're supposed to be entertainers, and they weren't doing their jobs. If you wanted to simply listen to the music you could have just stayed home and listened to the records for free. They sound like a bunch of cunts. I hope the tickets were really, really cheap.

  • @moonlily1 we did go and support them. and we bought their records. and I for one love that this has been posted up. if you are that offended by this kind of music: don't listen! just skip on!.....i find it really hard to fathom why people have to spend time and effort making a criticism when you could just as easily click on until you find something you like.

  • @fishbaby73 Where exactly did I say that I was 'offended' by the music or even that I didn't like it? I had not said that; in fact this video is on my playlist. What I said was that the group performing a concert where they did not connect with, thank, or even acknowledge their fans who paid to see them was obnoxious. I was responding to the anecdote that was shared, if it was true. I am guessing you read my comment out of context.

  • Makes me feel 20 again! Masterpiece - yes! I'm floating . . . .

  • @PunkLuc You hate Love and Rockets? Wow. They were great too. To each their own.

  • They were spectacular live!

  • best band ever

  • @Jutesoup Never heard of Rush?

  • @nljuggalo yes i have...not my favorite....kinda so so

  • A masterpiece of 30 years ; Unique, influential + unlike any other ! ! ! brilliant ! ! !

  • Love this & want....

  • I hate how goth, metal and emo get clumped together. This sounds nothing like Iron Maiden, Sabbath, Priest or even... that garbage called KoRn.

This is a solid song. This is what the essence of goth is.

  • I find it really sad that Goth is now reduced to spoiled kids buying crap at Hot Topic and thinking how cool and Goth they are. Now it's shitty bands like HIM, and Moonspell who aren't even Goth in any way shape or form. Manson is nothing but a really bad impersonator. I blame Bam Margera and the whole Twilight movie series for ruining the whole Goth subculture. Much the same way that Green Day has ruined punk.

  • @darkpoet25 I completely agree except Manson never claimed to be or tried to be at all. It was the spoiled mall goths who tried to make the association. Although I am goth and love Marilyn Manson he is in no way goth and I think anyone who thinks him or Hot Topic goth (new hot topic) then they need to reconsider what they choose to imitate with mom and dads money. Believe me, Twilight hasn't even scratched our culture. It just made emo more annoying :)

  • Boogieboy, you fuckin hit it right on the head!!! I have kids like that and they listen to Death Metal and dont know shit!!! No mater how you try to be cool with them, kids these days are all in a permanent "Bad Mood". Tool is probably the last real musical and intelligent band, so sad so sad...

  • Boogieboy, you fuckin hit it right on the head!!! I have kids like that and they listen to Death Metal and dont know shit!!! No mater how you try to be cool with them, kids these days are all in a permanent "Bad Mood". Tool is probably the last real musical and intelligent Band you could draw from, so sad so sad...

  • @BakedEatingCheetos .... hey try listening to "she wants revenge"

  • This must be the greatest reincarnation of Bela Lugosi that I ever saw.

  • Para irnos poniendo un poco goticónes, de acuerdo a la tradición un tanto amorfa del día de hoy, los únicos e inigualables maestros del goth rock, los primeros y originales, Bauhaus... con su tema más emblemático y conocido.

  • This song is so good for Halloween:)

  • this is my fav song by Bauhaus so far. I can hear this song in my head. I love this song!!!!

  • i dunno i just think it's kinda slow for my taste, but then again i don't consider myself goth, i just chill with them, i'm a new monster entirely

  • I fell in love with this song when I saw The Hunger. After seeing the latest Supernatural (Twihard) had this song in it. Bought it back to mind. Time to make this into a ring tone. Haha

  • What about Bela Lugosi's dad?

  • 31 Boris Karloff Fans!

  • I actually first heard this band a few years back, when my mom sat me down and watched Night Of The Demons with me - Stigmata Martyr, amazing. But so far, this is my favorite Bauhaus song. I love this band.

  • RIP Bela! 118 years and still undead

  • 31 people have no taste in music :3

This song is truly a masterpiece.

  • @QueenOfDarkness665 What? Someone doesnt like this? They know nothing and will fall with the less....Of ussssss

  • @QueenOfDarkness665 32 Lady gag fans visited this video...

  • @QueenOfDarkness665 Now it's 33. It' seems the number of tasteless people is growing.

  • @QueenOfDarkness665 To those who like music have taste in music. What is you trying to say?

  • @666deathghost "is you trying to say?" ? How about i answer that when you learn your proper grammar and i can actually understand your question? ;]

  • @QueenOfDarkness665 "Oh I'm sorry I did not know I was writing a letter to the fucking president.

  • was great. Is great.

For six- or eighthundred of years I thought it was "the little goose is dead".

Someone should sing about tote Gänse.

  • @QueenOfDarkness665 34 now!

  • @QueenOfDarkness665 now it is 37 people with no taste in music, we have to feel sympathy for them!

  • @Galaderia2

the 37 must be sad people who keep the repugnent chart system in place !

  • @QueenOfDarkness665 i know right i love the sound it's just perfect

  • @QueenOfDarkness665 totaly, a real masterpiece. This songs is amazing. Fucking great!

  • guitarist Daniel Ash was in Love and Rockets

  • @johnblackbat is he the guy in the suit or the one in the leather pants and sleeveless tee?

  • @johnblackbat he was but after Bauhaus split and not before he was in Tones on Tail (both with Kevin Haskins)

  • BASS!

    Gotta love Bauhaus...the best.

  • so mad i missed this. pure genius.

  • @PunkLuc Peter Murphy wasn't in Love & Rockets. So, I guess that means he was what made Bauhaus awesome? (The rest of the band members were secretly uncool.)

  • @CleoTheSim Was that cadaverous looking guitarist in Love and Rockets? I suppose he just needed a hit so he could buy some food.

  • Don't cry, Bela will be back, again and again.....

  • today is my 34th birthday and im still the spookiest person i know its time for a goth industrial revival i cant even listen to the radio because all the rock is so crap now so i just playlist good tunes on youtube

  • the original vampires.

  • merci pour cette video

  • In one month I will be 40! I was 16, when I heard this song the first time... It was my dark wave time (Today they would call it "Gothic sound" (bla, bla, bla)!!! Legendary Pink Dots, Alien Sex Fiend etc.........................and "Super Cobain" forever...

  • Why is he so absolutely, awesomely, amazingly beautiful??? My husband has actually given me permission to...ahhhh....go back stage if I ever get the chance...sigh....

  • @irishrooster66 Have you seen him lately? He is looking his age.

  • Today my best friend die, and that was its favorite song, and always he loves Bauhaus, i will miss you dear friend, R.I.P. Ernesto Galindo´s dead.

  • This song is beautiful. Watching them play live gives me the chills. Bauhaus rocks. this song gets me to my core.

  • Havent heard this for years!

  • I heard this the first time in 1982. I've been a hard core fan of Peter and the boys ever since. I'm now 44. Still my favorite band... EVER!!!

  • @tikibag Shit, I will be 40 in one month!!! We are sooooooooooo old, fuck off!!!! But I love that time!!!!

  • As Béla himself would say.... Mwahahahahahaaaaaa... I don't trink....... wine! :)

  • goth is sensuality. thank you to those who still keep the candles within reach.

  • @azromper Amen good brother/sister (of mercy?) ....New Wave encompassed all the multi-genres busting out @ the time! Nowadaze,it's Lady Gag Gag & Justin Blahber.

  • awesome!

  • Those times we called it just New Wave maybe Dark Wave. The Goth therm I first heard somewhere in the nineties.

  • I dig the chicks hahahahahahaa Great music many thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nothing ever will compare to this.

  • Based only on a guess from how they look, I'd place this around 1983-5. Can anyone confirm or disprove this?

  • @paulrulez742 it was earlier...

  • @paulrulez742 : It's that period yes.

  • @paulrulez742 I almost positive Bauhaus had split up by 83 or in 83.

  • I saw Love and Rockets in the '80s. It was a short show. About 40 minutes in, someone hit the microphone in Daniel's face, he had a temper tantrum and left the stage. The rest of the guys played for a few minutes, waiting for him to return. He didn't. There was almost a riot. Good times.

  • I think I was probably the only person watching "Eclipse" and recognized him in it...yes, he was playing a vampire.

  • @LaDracul what? where? i haven't seen the movie now i have too

  • @RhionAkiraNight Yep, the Quielieutes tell Bella the story of the first vampires that terrorize their tribe centuries ago, and he's the very first one. He's also in the "Making of" book as well.

  • Youtube personnel steal your select typings!!!!

  • This collecton of sounds lie beneath the catacombs of ones aural fears...

  • Bauhaus at Digbeth Civic Hall - Peter Murphy entering on to the stage by being passed over the crowd's head in a cage. Is my memory correct or is it apocryphal?
