  • I love her singing.

  • I also like Letta Mbulu,South African,singing this,but I can't find it anywhere.

  • I wish there was a live performance of this tune; I might have liked it.

  • feminism is an absolute joke.

  • @purplehaze216 And considering that we have a feminist president, first lady, secretary of state, recent speaker of the house, and three members of the Supreme Court, it's a 'joke' a lot of important people are in on!

  • @authoress1 the average voter is an imbecile. no shit

  • what does this have to do with ween?

  • Helen was hot back in the day!

  • @greg4161 I agree with you. She is sadly ignored these days.

  • mike tysons national anthem

  • Fabulous song - brings the right kind of attention to abusers.

  • tnx for uploading... there ain't no so much good singers now (*_*)

  • pete this is for u, so much for i make u feel good ty for letting me go

  • So what exactly is the female character moaning about? She's departing from a self-absorbed lover, I guess. But what did he do? What is she impugning here? Did he beat her, insult her, cheat on her? I'm confused.

  • @imbluz okay it's as simple as this .....women take so much sheet.... then one day they say no more...aint no way to treat a lady.....meanwhile back at the ranch the cowboy is going "Whatttttt...what's changed......I am still the complete idiot I have always been what's ya problem"......what he doesnt get is there is no problem any longer for the woman she's over it........okay

  • (359 likes 20110812 ruh) for lovers only.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I remember buying the 45 of this song when I was 16 in 1975 when this song first came out. I used to play this record over and over. I did that with all of Helen Reddy's 45's. I love her original greatest hits album. All 10 songs are so great to listen to. I still love listening to her music. I love her voice. It was always so distinct and full of emotion. I wonder if she still performs in concert. I would love to go see her.

  • Still listening to this in 2011??? xxx

  • hard to understand , aint (not ) no way to treat a lady , means its a way to treat a lady

  • A great singer...pitch, phrase, intonation, the whole deal. Rock on Helen

  • You've got to treat her like a lady. Do the best you can do. You've got to treat her like a lady. And she'll give in to you. You know what I mean.

  • she was great and the music still sounds oh so good...

  • She owns this song - so understated and sad at the end of an abusive relationship

  • helen reddy is bad. that is all.

  • @inb4Fumbledore But so completely, so perfectly bad, that you have to respect her.

  • thank you dad... for intorducing me to helen! we melted that tape in your car!

  • Helen was hot back in the day

  • Whenever I heard this song on the radio as a kid, I always sang along and changed the lyrics to "That ain't no way to treat a radio wave."

  • I had forgotten about this wonderful song thanks!!

  • We need to instill this in our male children. Sons are the hope for the future of our daughters.

  • @rhunt38520 I pity those girls.

  • one of the best ever a1

  • I agree with you, ph1star

  • One of my favorites from Helen Reddy!!!!!!!

  • She always sounded distinctly Australian, but even more so in this song ("That Ighnt No Wigh to Treat a Lighdy") The bridge is my favourite part...

  • Does she sound a bit like Dionne Warwick?

  • truly a good song.. it holds up well over time...good lyrics, arrangement, and of course a great voice

  • Her voice haunts me-nice

  • I just love this song... Helen rocked back in the 70's...it is truly a classic song for love that has gone bad....

  • me encanta esa cancion, que hermosisima voz tiene

    :3

  • @ph1lstar.....LOL......Great One!!! Beautiful timeless song just the same : )

  • to bad men today to not know how to treat a lady. I remember the 70's so well (almost) but she was one of my favorites. still is

  • to bad men today to not know how to treat a lady.

  • Not bad for an Aussie girl.....And a Melbourne girl at that.....

  • Sweet Memories of 1975 ~ I always enjoyed Helen as Sister Ruth in Airport 1975

  • and its very pretty and put him to sleeep

  • we were alone - dad left us wanted him to treat people well

  • Perfect face

  • "I was only bein' a picture

With all the colors I know

While you were busy looking into

Wide blue mirrors and lovin' the show"

Sounds like she was hooked up with a real narcissist.

  • "That ain't no way to treat a lady

No way to treat your baby, your woman, your friend

That ain't no way to treat a lady, no way"

  • "That ain't no way to treat a lady

No way to treat your baby, your woman, your friend

That ain't no way to treat a lady, no way"

    Very true....

  • sang this to my kid when he was a baby.....

  • mercxi55...WHY DONT YOU GO TAKE A CRAP...and never come out, your obviously looking for negative comments to make your day...i say get a life dude or dudess what ever you are

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • maybe women would b regarded better if mothers didn't allow their daughters to participate in the lindsey lohan and brittney spears death culture. Or even better, teach their sweeties how to cook! Modern broads can't keep house.

  • @Christglen and modern men don't know how to work for a living and provide and not walk out on their wives and children and hook up with a skank and forget they exist and not pay child support.

  • @bronxbabe624 - I hear ya, sister.

  • This song makes a lot of sense. Men shouldn't treat a lady bad in any way ! Men be happy that women go thru a lot for you. So don't treat her bad.

  • Lyrics are terrible

  • i REMEMBER

  • She sounds great. Lets see, in 1975 I was 12. I remember this song, and today still like it. She also looks pretty hot in this picture.

  • I think its timeless.. but then it came out during "my time" lol

  • Def. not a timeless song.

  • @Pewptypeupty why is this not a timeless song?

  • Haven't heard this song for years, I still love it!!

  • something to think abt for "bad boys" - threat yr woman right and you will get sooo much love in return - it goes both ways thou! I must have played this song a million times after being heartbrooken.......by a shithead, helped me get over him too!! Just to say, I`m happy in love with a man who treats me right and still have respect and love for me after 10 yrs! Lucky me<3 LOVE Helen Reddy:-)

  • @merckx155 This is a very good song. If you don't like it , go post with the songs you like. She has a great voice. Set the music back years? You must be joking. Great voice.

  • A wonderful song. Suits her voice perfectly.

This song has one of the best bridges ever. It's magnificent.

  • Hearing all the Divas of today makes you wonder how Helen, Karen, Dionne, and others of that era would have performed had their material pushed the limits of their performance. Effortless....

  • the good thing about you tube and the internet is to get back in touch with things in the recesses of your mind. i vaguely remember his song and Angie baby and it confirms this lady was a wonderful singer and performer.

  • I met the woman who wrote this. Her name is Harriet. It's really good song.

  • Beautiful song! Helen Reddy is outstanding!

  • great song

  • I always loved her growing up, her stuff spoke to the women we should have become..

  • everytime i hear a song by Helen Reddy i think of my elementary school years and the tv-show "Maude''.

  • First time I heard Helen Reddy was I think in the movie Pete's Dragon, she was older than in this album- never saw her this young - ..she was hot

  • Somewhat a timeless song. Still sounds good as ever.

  • I love her voice.. i remember listening to this song all the time many moons ago . it sounds as good today as it did long ago ..

  • I have had Helen Reddy LPs (yes those big things) from the early 70s. Used to listen to it all the time. Still love her music and voice more than 35 years later. She is a clasic, only gets better with time.

  • Tiger Woods should have this on his ipod

  • : D

  • I ..dunno what to think of all the Tiger situation, but I cracked up when I read this...thank..LOL

  • Who are you kidding, if Tiger Woods had this on hid iPod it'd only encourage him to have more affairs. ;)

  • @ph1lstar - my ex husband never got this memo, either. ;)

  • @ph1lstar

And Bret Farve and Jesse James.

  • @ph1lstar Yeah.....If he can afford one now.

  • @ph1lstar.... and CHARLIE SHEEN and MEL GIBSON...

  • @ph1lstar haha classic comment.

  • @ph1lstar Or Ben Roethlisberger

  • EMI should remaster her stuff. I think the production on her stuff is wonderful. Helen, if you see this, you need to demand that EMI/Capitiol/Harvest remaster your recordings for the new fans.

  • @vhfgeek Check out Helen's cd, The Woman I Am: The Definitive Collection. Contains her Capitol hits.

  • 1975?? has it been that long?? I loved this woman back then (i was 10) and her voice still takes me back to a much better time and definetley a better world.

  • @TheWindwalker123

yes its been that long...i guess we are the same age ..i still play all my records..

    simple living

    cheers

    l

  • I first loved this song when it came out in 1975 when I was 8 yrs old. I'm now almost 45yrs old, and still love it just as much. I got "Ain't No Way to Treat a Lady", and "The Eagles Greatest Hits 1971-1975" for my 9th birthday. What an awesome yin/yang birthday present from my old man!

  • Helen Reddy I still love her singing. They just don't make stars like they use to you know with class!!!

  • Friend, tell me about it! None of the newer female vocalists touch me the same way as the lovely Helen! "Class" is the word to use.

  • The Austrailianeese are hot!

  • Pz,

Your comment shows your ignorance as well as your low class upbringing

atte FERNANDO SANTANDER EX DJ STUDIO 54 NYC

  • I miss this kind of music.

Today's diva's are all about mass produced music and looks, and tha skankier the better.

This was when talent mattered, and song writing quality mattered.

  • yep, like this one, thanks for posting

  • I forgot how cute she was and such a distinct voice.

  • Wish I can see her sing this song live. This was one of my favs.

  • Helen sings this song as part of a medley of hits on her album, Live In London. The album is available in cd format.

  • This song is a terrific tune about realizing that you are stuck in a one-way relationship. We've all been there.

  • Explains Schock: "Most of my songs have been inspired by a desire to communicate something to one person. In the case of this song, it was a scolding, a gentle finger wagging, but in the face of only one man. It was not a protest song about how all women were treated.

  • ya im a girl to. and im 15.

    coolio

  • i love Helen Reddy shes amazing. now why cant other teenagers like her. i do and im one. Instead of this rap stuff people should listen to stuff like this, real music.

  • Ok let me try to clear some stuff up. When your younger like teenage you get introduced to Zep,sabbath, floyd, skynard, beatles, stones, who, eagles, steve miller etc. from classic rock. Then you get introduced to what actually got radio airplay back then like the carpenters, the osmonds, tony orlando, john denver, captain and tennile and helen reddy. You can even dive deeper into the 70s and see underground experimental stuff like the new york dolls, the tubes and jobriath to get a wide view of it.

  • Of course this is a crappy song. Back then there were ladies, now just bitches who don't like to be treated as ladies.

  • Not all 70's music sucked, Led Zep., deep purple, elton John, Lou Reed, David Bowie, Bee Gees, Bruce Springsteen etc. were great, the crap were Helen Reddy, Mac Davis, Journey, Olivia newton John, that type of crap

  • oh I agree, today's crap including rap, Celion Dion, Mariah Carey, etc. all suck

  • that's the whole truth!

  • just song is just 100% crapola, don't know how it got to be hit, I guess the 70's sucked in a lot of ways

  • Um...I think I speak for alot of us when I say....today's music sucks BIG TIME and is pure crapola than the 70's! But, that's your opinion and we all know opinions are just like a**holes...everybody's got one!

  • can anyone post or tell me where I can find Helen's album cut of Neil Sedaka's song "Dont' Let It Mess Your Mind"? It was always my favorite from this album. It sang me to sleep in my playpen in the mid 70's, and serenaded my play in the late 70's and early 80's, which says something deeply disturbing about my childhood, lol.

  • It's from Helen Reddy's 1975 album "No Way To Treat A Lady." I think it's either track 3 on side 1 or track 2 on side 2...it's been a very long time since I've even looked at the tracklisting on that album.

  • Does anyone know what Helen is doing now?

  • She's retired from show business and is living in, I think, Australia, where she's from. I think she works, now, as a hypnotherapist or something along those lines.

  • She's retired from show business and is living in, I think, Australia, where she's originally from. Last I heard, she was working as a hypnotherapist or something along those lines.

  • This really is a beautiful song.

  • Helen Reddy was my all time favourite way back when I was a happy young woman, before the shit of life happened!

  • I feel for you angelica59, I wish you had listened carefully to the messages Helen was sending you in her songs. She was telling you about all the shit but was giving you the confidence to move on despite all that. Listen again and good luck.

  • Well anyway you put it- It ain't no way!!

  • Soooooo GOOD!!!!!!

  • This is when lyrics, melody, and talent was a part of the recording industry.

  • This song sums up so well the feelings I had for a girl that was a good friend & now is gone.

  • excellent song and beautiful woman, great singer......

  • wow, i like this song long ago pa, dehins q alam n ito pl title ni2...
