I'm looking at either a GTI or Si for my next car. This is a GTI video so I know your all gonna say go for the GTI, but its a tough choice. I like the idea of a solid German car, but the Si is definitely more fun to drive. Any good opinions?

I know this sounds bias since it is a gti video, but i never regret buying my gti. You may think about modding your car like i did, but you end up not because it is already so perfect. and i have to disagree on the si is more fun to drive. i drove my friends and he drove my gti. i wanted back in my car and he wanted to stay in mine. also when you walk up to your car, you know its a gti, not a golf. when you walk up to a si, its still a civic. My vote will always be gti. hope i helped.

Actually, I am German. And I own a MK6 GTI with DSG.

In contrast to you I HAVE informed myself. You should do that right now and reconsider your statement. The fact that you compare DSG with Automatic is a proof for anyone that you have no clue what you are talking about.

Start reading technical data of cars with DSG and compare them to those with manual transmission.

Example: A3 2.0T Manual Transmission 0-100KM/H = 7,1 sec

A3 2.0T with DSG 0-100KM/H = 6,9 sec

I agree with your statement. DSG is faster; however, when you are at rallycross/autocross track having clutch is veeeeeery helpful. Sometimes you just need to go through the corner rolling without power, that's when clutch comes in.

As far as drag racing goes...DSG is better. None of us can change gear in 8 milliseconds (and yes, 8 milliseconds (.008 sec.) is faster than ENZO which does it in .15 sec)

The "old" Golf GTI V was an amazing car, perfect in every field and with a convenient price/contents ratio.

But her sound was too banal, too 4-cylinders ordinary sound, without enough low frequences amplified.

This GTI 6 has a much more baritonal sound, it's no more too ordinary 4 cylinders sound.

I don't think so. The A3 isn't so confortable than the GTI according to me. The new GTI is based on the new Golf that is more modern than the A3. But you probably prefer the style of the A3. I'm OK that the Sportback version is really nice. But I don't like the rear of the 3 doors version.
