That 2.9 running has some serious tappet noise.and for you to say you have put thinner oil in because of the turbos ain't justifying it.i my self own a 2.9 12v xr4x4 H reg.the oil I run in it is 5-30 and it has no tappet noise what so ever no I haven't over tightend them either.so I think you either need to get your Haynes manual out and set yr tappets propley or put a new set of push rods and tappets or some seriously thick oil in it.
I’m glad that I have been able to amaze you and its always nice to see a comment by someone who knows about engines. However the engine fitted to this car is a twin turbo. A person with such knowledge as yourself is obviously trying to catch out the ignorant trolls of the internet as I am sure that you know that the intercooler fitted to this engine is the one designed by Turbo Technics.
when they did the original conversion and that the two turbo’s that it cools are Garrett T2’s not the much larger T4 or T5 used on the Cosworth. I am happy to concede that in this video it is very tappy but solid lifters and thin synthetic oil will do that with these engines. In regards to you needing a large intercooler to cool your balls, if I were you I would consult a doctor as overheating of the testis can cause infertility.
well having looked at this i am amazed. this aint no twin turbo engine if it is then it certainly wont last long and any person who knows about engines will tell you that, that tiny little intercooler you have wouldnt cool my balls down on a hot summers day so there-for there is no way it will cool 2 turbos even standard cosworth turbos. get your tappets set aswell or you can say bye bye to that piece of scrap anyway
Quality council garage with lots of left over bits by the look of it. Sweep that lot up and chuck it all in the oil filler, once nicely mashed up it'll sound much better...
at least your using proper forged low comp pistons alot of people use those compression plates and melting there engines , nice to see some good sirra's still around
fair play i thought that because some older fords do sound a bit clicky when there low on oil like crankshaft noise, did you have to change the crank or just pistons and rods ?
it had plenty of fresh oil and the oil was up to 60psi, also the tappets had just been set. its noisy because it runs thin synthetic oil insted of the standerd thick mineral oil because of the turbo convertion. i know all of this because its my car

Did you tell your mom i said hello by any chance ?

the crank and rods are standerd parts just ballanced and the pistons are forged. the 225bhp ones use all standerd internals
