Matter is mostly made up of ETHER, the volume of atoms and moleculed making op a substance is only 1% of the volume, the rest is ether, and the vacuum is all ether, which is a pre-physical state of matter, and consists of pure CHARGE, without mass.

I may not have to correct notation, but Einstein left out the factor of time.

Space-time is a single function, where speed and time are inversely proportional, and mass represents all forms of matter - both atoms and and sub-atomic "massless particles."

And a "particle" is massless when that particle causes no disturbance on the particles that do exhibit mass-like properties.

Bottom line is, where does TIME fit into the equation?

@nacipr Aether in some form (yet undiscovered) probably does exist. But if by "aether" you mean that 19th century idea of an all-pervading, incredibly rigid, yet almost infinitely permeable medium - that's most likely not correct. At the same time relativity is a physical theory that does not require such medium. So until it's forced on us by some other means (some more general theory than both QM and GR), it's best left open. And in science "open" means "don't assume it exists".

Why there is no ether, light's speed is not a "constant" speed everywhere.

What I mean by this is that light moves at different speeds through different substances. This is the basis of refraction.
