  • Of course Claypool wouldn't fit in: there are THREE of them up there!

Also, I would be concerned about whether or not Jaco would fit in here either. His style seemed too soft to be heard over all this thumping and flamenco strumming.

  • Clarke has so much treble in his bass it may as well be a four-string guitar. awesome playing though.

  • oh this is pretty good.. *hears birdland* OH MY GOSH THIS IS AMAZING!!!

  • That drummer must be so proud

  • Your video is a favorite on South Carolina

  • @matthewkilb im sorry but yo ears have a lot of wax in them..

    cheers

  • Jaco would fit right in.

  • marcus and victor, are like a couple of deballed slaves !!!!!!!!!!!

  • got a few hugs, handshakes and autographs from clarke and wooten when they came to the dakota jazz club... great players.

  • marcus miller tone =his hands and that bass and that amp

  • @siyaxavatha and those Sadowsky pickups...

  • its funny how people say claypool or flea shuld be there but truth is they wouldnt fit

  • is that poogie bell on drums?

  • Miller is the best imo cuz his DR Bass strings are amazing!

  • 140 people don't have a real taste of music

  • Last band to use 3 bassists was Spinal Tap

  • @ShangoDC

Saw him in Erics in Liverpool in 1978, absolutely fantastic

  • All three of these bass players are great. Jaco was great as well. If I had to choose between any of them to be in my band, and I am the lead singer, I would choose Marcus first, Stanley,Jaco,Victor. Stanley would be considered a soloist and headliner himself. He can make great music in the future, but he'd need to humble himself more and attract better writers, singers, and other musicians to collaborate with him. Share the money equally and we would have something for all time. That'll be great.

  • FUCKIN FANTASTIC!!!

  • I think i could not stand the all show, and i´m a bass player, but is too much bass for me..........

    But they are outstanding........

  • Hey you bass freaks, check out Alexander Kuzmin on ReverbNation

  • Jaco would be proud.

    RIP.

  • i can pay 10000000000$ just to be ther!

its like the best thing that i ever heared wish 3 basses!

  • Victor Wooten kills here.

  • this is like the G3 but with bassist..awesome!!!

  • Victor Wooten's bass playing at 11:55 - too good to be true! A truly amazing video, seeing this live would have made me speechless!

  • Stanley defiantly play's standard bass as solid as anyone, particularly when he’s in band settings other than leading his group, but he’s been a great improviser of the instrument since the early 70’s when he first revolutionized the way the bass would be played by future generations. What sets Stanley apart is his tremendous musicianship to play with the extreme best of the Jazz world which run deep into his apprenticeship days with the Jazz greats he's played.

  • @ShangoDC one problem though is that he doesnt do the job a bass should be he basically plays lead guitar on a bass, which is awesome!

  • @MrLaserprint You are right in your summarization of his bass playing, his genius is that he's able to play the bass like a lead guitar and create some of the same sounds and speed licks on a bass.

  • @williamcee14 yes but i mch prefer miller as a bass player though, i just find that he keeps the groove going better and it just sunds better to me.

  • @MrLaserprint Try listening to Carol Kaye for a groove

  • I love stan's bass, but i also love marc's bass. But which one is better? there's only one way to find out!

  • three amigos! these guys kill! monsters of bass!

  • "click the links below for more great guitar video and guitar lessons" WHY ???

  • Utmost respect for the other guys, but Vic Wooten's tone is just about the most awesome thing I have ever heard.

  • @zazzdcz

    Such a troll aren't you

  • 14 minuts on stage, and then they made the most awesome CD together

  • marcus still better on the tone!!

  • WOW ! What a treat, thank you for posting !!!

  • from 12:57 it's not in harmony.

    fail

  • @zazzdcz It is called dissonance idiot.

  • @zazzdcz idiot idiot idiot idiot idiot .

  • i would want the tabs of the stanley clarkes intro, specially when he presses chords same time and not that walking kind of thing. sounds so scary and deep :P

  • now just imagine if Jaco was there too...

  • i love watching these clips with amazong bassists it make me wonna take my bass and play. but then i hate my self for watching it becouse nomatter how good you are its nothing compared to this xD

  • @theishjort Practice!

  • Did anyone know that Stanley Clarke's wife is an accomplished bassist too...He met her while attending school.....

  • 8:16 the marcus miller smile killz me hahahaha

  • no one can play chic corea and keep up like clarke

  • SEARCH FOR SERGIO GROOVE,PEOPLE

    ANOTHER BEAST from our days

  • God. Just shut up and enjoy the music. : )

  • shhhhh just listen

  • This is nice but compared to classical music very primitive to noodle on one motiv forever and ever. Every classical composer would laugh his ass off. The simpliest thing from Mozart is much more versatile within 1 minute than this thing which lasts for 14 minutes. No offence meant.

  • @gillan5 : Well then be free to go listen to classical music then. The rest of us don't give a damn how complex something is, as long as it entertains us. Granted, I love very complicated music, like Rush and Yes and such, but simply because something is simpler, doesn't mean its less enjoyable.

  • @gillan5

Only problem is is that there were no classical bass players...cmon compare things alike...besides if people reacted like we do off "modern Jazz" they would be excommunicated and branded witches, burned and what so ever... No that is classic "history" lol

Come to think about it they would probably never had so many wars because they would have been partying off this shit ...Better think about it..Classical is just that classic ,a foundation for something else , to build upon

  • @gillan5 yes, it is not very complex compared to classical, but it is much easier to groove to.

  • What is the name of this song ! I remeber it in the 70's and Jean Luc Ponty was in as well

  • @mhand43 School Days

  • Hail to the masters of the modern bass!!!!!

  • stanley at 11:11 ftw and then marcus's reply

  • WOW"" ! addictive to School Days Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller and Victor Wooten!

  • WOW"" ! adictive to School Days Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller and Victor Wooten!

  • lol, for a second there i thought the guy going to pick up the stool at 00:49 was Buckethead!!

  • Man I hate Stanley Clark! Never lets Marcus and Victor shine! Always drowning them out with that bullshit!...Worst bass player ever!!!

  • @toejshel they are playing his song arsehole, what do you expect? "Worst bass player ever." Don't make me laugh.

  • @Parrock1 : Go bother the other 1,000+ that commented on this video that don't like his style. It's just my opinion....

  • @Parrock1 You are entitled to make constructive criticisms, but saying he is the worst bass player ever is plainly ridiculous. Presumably you never heard Craig Logan play for Bros LOL.

  • Amaizing musicians.....

  • PLAY BIG BOTTOM!

  • OMG

  • these guys suck lol

  • @Nevyn44491 ,, are you crazy!!!

  • @Nevyn44491 Die in a hole

  • @Nevyn44491 you have no respect for bass players very dum person

  • cara vc sao tenso são os melhores cara que eu ja vi tocando baixo.

d++++. carka quem dera eu tocase 1/3 tersos do que vcs toca vcs brinca com esse

    estrumento

  • C'est des grosses brutasses x)

  • How is it possible that these masters provide endless inspiration and simultaneously make me want to sell all my basses and quit? :-)

  • @restrunglefty makes me want to practice more.

  • what's the name of this song?

  • @catman484 it doesnt have a name, it was just a random jam that they did in some club

  • @catman484 School Days, its a Stanley Clarke tune

  • The presence these guys have is just amazing.

  • togeather this almost makes Jaco Pastorius

  • Miller's tone kicks everybody else's ass.

  • Three heroes. Do not take the score. Just think about the way they are playing

  • hell yea les claypool would fit with these guys havnt you heard his cover of silly putty

  • Amazing, didn't think there was room in one piece of music for 2 basses, let alone 3. Shows you what pros these guys are that they don't step on each other.

  • I have said so many times what a shame it is today that any young black men with music talent gets pushed into rap genre.Yes a lot of them get famous, but these dudes here are legendary.Thats a big difference. Its all the difference in the world. Its like comparing Britney Spears to Mary Travers of Peter Paul & Mary. It aint happenin.Ones showtime, the other is an actual artist. Not much explain needed on that.

  • They play very good together:)

Clarke fits in perfectly with his tenor bass despite i don't like his style.

He does screw it up some times.. 11:40 is just earbleeding.

  • very good !!!!

  • Ca c'est LA vidéo culte ! lol

  • I had a bassgasm

  • Les claypool wouldn't fit in here.

  • @SlyzCooper you're right. The stage would tilt to his respective side.

  • @SlyzCooper Yeah, he's white.

  • @SlyzCooper Claypool covers Stanley Clarke... sooo yeah

  • @SlyzCooper He could wear a pig mask and play the whamola. Fit right in. Obviously ;)

  • @SlyzCooper Not sure what about Claypool wouldn't go here.

  • @SlyzCooper no shit he wouldn't, Les claypool is play's alien music.

  • @SlyzCooper But Jaco would.

  • @cfredrics Hahah totally! I like his song A portrait of Tracy. Didn't he get beaten to death in a european nightclub or something?

  • @SlyzCooper He got very drunk and trashed on drugs (probably coke), got denied entry to a nightclub, so he went mental, shouting 'do you know who I am'. The typical film line. Obviously the bouncer thought of him as just another nutter, not the legend Jaco. So he beat him, kicked his head in and put him in hospital in a very deep coma, which he never came out of. He should be on this stage with these 3 making fantastic music.

  • around 13:50 damn his hand looks weird.

  • @Xplosive59 Clarke must have fingers made of steel, the way he bangs them around. There's another vid of him playing the double bass and he is equally abusive to his digits. The more you play, the more your fingers can take.

  • who is the drummer?

  • I like how marcus is the only one playing bass ... hahaha

  • Holy fuck!!!

  • 135 people smoked some bad Sh*t and would probably wish to apologize....

  • I just transferred this on to my iPod, man this is killer......

  • g3 bassists version.

  • ¡Stupefacente!

  • what do you call a person that hangs out with musicians? -- a drummer

  • Listen and learn. Watch and learn. Do and learn.

  • all thats missing is jaco pastorius

  • @MrKablammoman Agree.. With Stuart Zender, Mark King, Jimmy Haslip and Larry Graham ;)

  • @MrKablammoman by the sound of it, Jaco was there!

  • Clarke is my hero!

  • Thanks for uploading this video.

  • This was ... Olympian.

I had the privilege and blessing of meeting Marcus Miller backstage when he was touring with Carlos Santana's band. He played the Chapman Stick during his spotlight solo, which was really impressive. More impressive still was the fact that he was a humble and gracious human being, in addition to being a galaxy-class talent.

  • Ha ha ha ha ha how ace is that! they are playing 'Birdland' by Weather Report! in around 5:00! ha ha thats ace and good respect right there! love it!

  • Wtf! How am I not dead, my face is melted and it smells like burning. Cant wait to see Stanley Clark play with Hiromi and Victor Wooten in a couple of weeks WOOT

  • aman aman, yok boyle bisey...

  • Damn!

  • I can't understand how this jam didn't trigger the apocalypse.

  • The last time I was watching three black guys doing what they were doing at 11:40 my door was locked.

  • I like the sound of slapping near the bridge, but it feels a little weird for me to pop down there.

  • наконец-то нормальную музыку увидуслышал!БРАВО!!!

  • All of these guys are freaking awesome but some parts of this sound like total garbage

  • Marcus' solo bit around the 8:30 mark gets me every time, what a powerful tone!

  • More cowbell, more bass, let's fire the guy in the guitar and the piano and bring in more "lead" bass.

  • Black bass players rules!!! I am white ;(

  • Stanley Clarke is a guitar player trapped in a bass players body.

  • @doedoebrains2005 Stanley Clarke is a displaced super-being from Krypton who amuses himself by doing impossible things on a bass guitar. :-)

  • man if i had to play with 2 other bassists id use a shit load of harmonics too

  • If they threw Larry Graham and Les Claypool into the mix the camera would've blown by the first note.

  • @zombiehitman666 Just like Flea, those guys definitely know their stuff, but they're just not on the level these guys have attained

  • If they threw Les Claypool into the mix the every camera would blow up by the first note along with the venue.

  • chuck flea in there and the world would probably implode from the sheer baddass-ness.

  • @12uuutube12 flea is great and all but he's not on the level of these guys.

  • 131 people wanna have 3 friends, that can play bass guitar....

    AND a drummer

  • The LIVING GODS OF THE BASS! If only Jaco could've joined them! I almost wet my pants. With Jaco here, I would've definitely needed to get new undies and pants. Oh, and a new chair.

  • 2432365 bassists over the world.

  • the bass is a "guitar"...@DETROYER0789

  • Miller holdin' down the line!!!!

  • This is a bass-gasm.
