Of course Claypool wouldn't fit in: there are THREE of them up there!
Also, I would be concerned about whether or not Jaco would fit in here either. His style seemed too soft to be heard over all this thumping and flamenco strumming.
All three of these bass players are great. Jaco was great as well. If I had to choose between any of them to be in my band, and I am the lead singer, I would choose Marcus first, Stanley,Jaco,Victor. Stanley would be considered a soloist and headliner himself. He can make great music in the future, but he'd need to humble himself more and attract better writers, singers, and other musicians to collaborate with him. Share the money equally and we would have something for all time. That'll be great.
Stanley defiantly play's standard bass as solid as anyone, particularly when he’s in band settings other than leading his group, but he’s been a great improviser of the instrument since the early 70’s when he first revolutionized the way the bass would be played by future generations. What sets Stanley apart is his tremendous musicianship to play with the extreme best of the Jazz world which run deep into his apprenticeship days with the Jazz greats he's played.
@MrLaserprint You are right in your summarization of his bass playing, his genius is that he's able to play the bass like a lead guitar and create some of the same sounds and speed licks on a bass.
i would want the tabs of the stanley clarkes intro, specially when he presses chords same time and not that walking kind of thing. sounds so scary and deep :P

This is nice but compared to classical music very primitive to noodle on one motiv forever and ever. Every classical composer would laugh his ass off. The simpliest thing from Mozart is much more versatile within 1 minute than this thing which lasts for 14 minutes. No offence meant.
@gillan5 : Well then be free to go listen to classical music then. The rest of us don't give a damn how complex something is, as long as it entertains us. Granted, I love very complicated music, like Rush and Yes and such, but simply because something is simpler, doesn't mean its less enjoyable.
Only problem is is that there were no classical bass players...cmon compare things alike...besides if people reacted like we do off "modern Jazz" they would be excommunicated and branded witches, burned and what so ever... No that is classic "history" lol
Come to think about it they would probably never had so many wars because they would have been partying off this shit ...Better think about it..Classical is just that classic ,a foundation for something else , to build upon
@Parrock1 You are entitled to make constructive criticisms, but saying he is the worst bass player ever is plainly ridiculous. Presumably you never heard Craig Logan play for Bros LOL.
