  • This is one ANGRY storm.

  • that storm is more like a lighting storm cause it keeps flashing

  • it got dark after the explosive 0:34

  • Wow that was nuts

  • Feel the POWER!

  • holy shit, thats some crazy lightning! whre was this?

  • The Boss up there use the Main Light Switch... XD

  • the noise of the Transformer thingy is loud

  • WTF WE NEVER GET THIS KINDA THUNDER WHERE I AM!!!! NO FAIR

  • Wow!

  • It looked like the camera was playing Tetris. Anyway, that was a HUGE lightning strike, though one has hit in our front yard, so...

  • What morning already i thought time goes slow when u are awake all night I need to go to school again WTF it's dark again shight

  • Somewhere some Call of Duty nerd just said "WE'VE BEEN EMP'D ELECTRONICS ARE DOWN!"

  • hey our neighboorhood just got cut off :( but it came back up :D

  • someone forgot to pay the electric bill lol

  • holy fuck who turned on the sun!!!!

  • at night lightning makes the sky like day

  • Down here in southeast missouri we have a few good storms like that. Worst we've had lately was one a month ago. Rain was really hard, was shocked the power didn't go out. Would of got some video with my camera of it but it's light capture is a little dim.

  • pause at 35... picka boo i see you!!!

  • Big Boss up there Pushed on the Lightswitch :)

  • One stubborn lightning

  • pause at 34... theres the sky!!!

  • pause at :36 seconds, cool screenshot xP

  • look at 0:34 very carefully there is a guy in his bedroom just turning on his bedroom light then the power goes off

  • yea he was like wtf?

  • @Alexking99

lol Yeah, he must've been like "OH COME ON !!!" XD

  • @Alexking99 :)

  • weve had some badass thunderstorms like that out here in Wichita County too, Wichita Falls,

  • Where is this ? We have massive flooding near Atlanta, Ga.

  • san antonio, tx. this was a couple years ago.. it was a pretty nice storm

  • thanks

  • No wonder it looked so familiar lol

  • @darkernights, WOW, the lightening strikes every two seconds amazing... We never see that in the UK, in fact we rarely get rain and thunder, when we do it's only a few lightening strikes and thunder, and that's it, lol.

  • @darkernights You live in San Antonio Tx? I was born and rised there Cool!

  • Cool stuff!

  • wow incredible never seen that in meriden ct

  • at 0:35 you can see s.o. switching on the light, and after 1 second it is cut off. lol

  • ITS A GENERATER NOT A TRANSFORMER

  • I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but I don't think generators are mounted on telephone poles just yet.

  • The strike was very close and the effect was immediate. Besides the transformer itself, were electronic devices in the homes zapped as well? Here in Germany power distribution to end users via overhead lines in the streets is a rare occurrence, cable is usually the way to go. So instead of many small transformers, we got fewer and larger transformers from 10 kV to 230 V.

  • wow one minute you can see your neighbors house across the street, next thing you caant see shit. that happened to me once couldn't stop running into things

  • rockland, ny had a power outage at the overnight hours on sat 7/17/09

  • that reminds me of when it stormed so bad the transformer was struck by lightning and the transformer flew apart in shreds.its like a huge boom, power out,i climbed the power pole yelled HIT ME!! and sure enough it struck the power pole on which i flew in to my neihbors yard and passed out. i couldn't believe i was alive

  • 0:35 Transformer strike?

  • Yeh, probably.

  • at 0:35 someone turned there light on but then the power went off a second after lol

  • maybe he thought, oops, what a mess, I should better have fixed that faulty lamp... :-)

  • I love storms like that! It's the only reason why i would want to live in the mid west (been there lots, half my family lives there, and i've seen some BIG storms). If we only had those here in Oregon.

  • NO, you do not, you do not want to be without power for 2 days, no air conditioner, no tv, nothing, trust me.

  • For me When the power goes out is the best. And trust me, i have been there. the power went out all the time at my old house. It's so peaceful, and quiet. Doing every thing by candle/fire light. Playing board games and drinking games with your roommates and friends all night long. Even stumbling around in the dark looking for a candle is entertaining. It's like camping without having to leave your house.

  • Well, when you put it that way, it's fun, but my parents didn't want to play Blackjack with me.

  • lol

  • hahaha thats soooooooo true :)

  • @KidVlogger317 Yeah buddy 2 whole days try having a week with your house being at 5 degrees from a winter storm no power at all. Some places in the area had it out for 2 to 3 weeks and didn't have water AND had flooded basements. Not to mention the road was nothing but a blanket of ice.

  • lol, as soon as the person in the house turned on the light, the power went out

  • prob scared the hell out of whoever turned it on to blackout like 2 secs later lol

  • That happened to me last night.. It was pretty cool. Everything in the house went on and off a lot of times before we heard this huge explosion and the sky changed colors. And then we heard a bunch of sirens so it was obviously pretty bad.

Luckily, we were one of the first and only people to get power. No school for the whole week. :D

  • you know wot this was the second Thunder&Lightin storm i had seen when i got the net! for some reason this is still my number 1 vid!! well done :-)

  • thats was a great setup with the camera. i like how it was pretty silent with the lightning and the positioning of the exterior lighting on the truck and across the street. untill the sound of the crash of lightining striking the transformer close by offscreen, with a bright flash then darkness. it looked like a haunting image. i was almost expecting a dark figure of a man standing out in the street to appear out of nowhere during a few flashes of lighning. then disappear again.

  • Today i was at the mall and just before i enttered it a hudge lighning bolt struck near by and cut out the power for likr 5 min

  • If only we got that kind of weather in England.

  • @richarddx22 England doesn't have thunderstorms? doesn't every country?

  • @Indestructible229 Well I guess but our last one was last september and there havent been any this summer.

  • at 00:35 it was day cool

  • is did it once in my house but is was a lightning strike hit a powerpole!!! not the tranfromer!!!

  • Whoa! i like the Lightning strike at 35seconds it really must of hit something to made it go out, and always hate it when it goes out before the stompomous god dang it thunder...lol lucky for me i got a generator now.

  • when it does that, you swear during the thunder...and you dont offend innocent ears. lmao. my grandmother used to do it all the time...the power would flicker, and shed wait for the thunder. "god damn it." no joke. not to say that we didnt hear her do it a few times before she told us in later years. we found it hilarious.

  • Noticed how you see in that 2nd story house someone turning in the light just before it goes out lol the irony is whoever it was must of gone in there and trip when it went out *lmao* it goes on and BOOM off.

  • yeah i did notice that...."ooooooops!"

  • YIKE'S THAT TRANSFORMER IS DEAD :(

  • it was funny, i saw a light go on at the house across the street at about 0:34 and then the lightning knocks the power out

  • yeah, :) probably thought it was his fault. XD

  • @darkernights lol i could imagine someone in that house saying "honey did you pay the electric this month"

  • @SuiteLife002 -that person in there **** his her pance and said"DAMMIT!!"

  • I Just wish we had these kind of weather here in greece it's sunset all the time i'm missing a perfectly good storm like that :(

  • using a cell?

  • no it was a pocket camera, point and shoot. Casio EX-Z850

  • Cool!

  • There went the power..

  • 5 stars!!

  • THIS video of the such frequent lightning and nice thunder is so awesome!!! Nice thunderclap after the closeby CG((that caused power outage seen at 0:35!!!))...BTW.... my own videotaped 7/28/89 12pm huge Tstorm is well worth seeing once I CAN get IT on YouTube--lotsa closeby CGs, great thunder! Very nice video you got here....

  • Were you outside filming this or in a car? If u were outside ur very brave/stupid. nice vid though

  • I was inside filming from the front window. ;) outside, hahaha yeah right.

  • Sucks that your power went out. I remember when i lived in the country, we had a blizzard and our power was out for i think 5 days, it sucked. Lucky that your power gets restored so soon :]

  • wow, never happened to me.. even when i was kind of in the country.. never more than a day. :)

  • i hate it when the power goes out that long in the winter. during the summer i wouldnt mind it because you wouldnt have to heat the house.

  • I have Solar Panels on the roof that collect energy so in any power outage we get we use the reserve power most of the time only good for 3 hours one time 10 because it was sunny all damn week and then on one of those sudden surprise storms you usually get over the night BOOM brought down a powerpole and we didnt had power for 12 hours, but our reserves kept us good till it went out but we only had to wait an hour before normal power was restored lol, our neighbors were jealous! XD

  • well, if they ever try to make REALLY good friends with you, just say "no, you're not allowed in the house to use up our solar power. get lost." nah i wouldnt be that mean, but if they do try to be friends, you know why. LOL

  • heh i dont have to someone already without my consent pluged in their extension in our grid which is at the side of the fence so yeah hard to tell who but yeah people here dont respect each other >>

  • jeez, thats rude.

  • So you got a solar system that allows you to sell surplus power to the grid but also charges batteries so that you can switch your complete home over from the grid to the batteries via an inverter? That's what I am dreaming of, and the dream ends with a growl, "and to get it, get the hell out of bed now and work on your German patent attorney qualification."

  • but in winter all you need to keep your frozen/chilled food from spoiling is to bring it outside. Besides, there are inexpensive grid-independent heating devices (propane-powered), but I haven't come across any grid-independent air conditioner yet.

  • I don't get how lightning makes a blackout. Does the lightning hit the transformer, utility pole, what?

  • it hit's the transformer and blows it, thus power is lost. :( took them .. 3 hours to get it back.

  • hummm! big lightning and out of power:)

  • wow shit when the power went out the lightning lasted for like 2 seconds. Incredible

  • actually i think that was the glow from the transformer that was hit by lightning, but it was so bright.. and green. it's blue here because the camera tries to correct white balance.

  • Oh ok thanks for letting me know. But in other lightnings vids I have seen lightning do that as in last for a couple of seconds. But I do believe you dont worry about that lol.

  • i bet, i've seen some myself. crazy stuff.

  • Yeah lol

  • Where was this?

  • San Antonio ,tx. :) on the northwest side.

  • That lightning is so frikken bright!! I looks like flashes of daytime.

  • what time was it there?

  • at 00:35 the power went out

  • yeah it's funny too. if you see the house across the street someone turns a light on inside just before it struck, i bet that was weird for them.

  • Damn that looks awsome

  • yeah lol I saw that too. Good one
