It's obvious.. the target consumers are those who are looking for a "Unique" camera that takes great photos. People who want to differentiate themselves from the crowd and doesn't care if others say its ugly or not. No wonder I see some beauty in this camera.. Kinda reminds me of Lomography but with better optics.
What I like about Pentax, they try to think out of the box. The design may be "weird", but in the end it's a unique design. The viewfinder may be gone in this model, but you can still take good photographs with it, but I wish they added an articulated screen feature so you can maximize using the display screen when shooting.
@reiningiri What's the problem with it being silver and not black? What's the importance of it being all black? Why be like everyone else just to be like veryone else?
I read in the full specs that the video system is upgraded from the K-5, which is fantastic news :)
1080p: 30/25/24 FPS
720p: 60/50/30/25/34: FPS
And with input jack for external microphone + audio levels. This is fantastic =)
But I couldn't find out if there is manual expsosure for video. Is there?
And who about video recording. Is it file size limited, or just until no more space or battery or too hot? (It says until too hot in the specs). I get 5m23s as max on the K-5 in full quality :/
@ArcticExposure The exposure can be controlled via aperture or shutter speed, choosing one or the other. The video file itself is limited to 25 min max recording time, which is hard coded independent of the memory card or battery power. However, it will stop recording if needed if the camera/battery get too hot.
@pentaxian1 That sounds nice. So if I have a manual aperture lens, I can control both shutter speed and aperture? Or will it force automatic shutter speed? Can ISO be locked?
I like this design a lot. Retro and minimalistic. It would certainly be a camera for video and time lapse for me, and depending on how the screen works for photography, maybe that too with an LCDVF (which I use for video a lot anyway when handheld).
I would love to have this camera for a review, both for my blogg and video review here on YouTube.

Does this camera have full manual control for video like shutter, aperture, ISO, white balance?

Just read about the K-01 ...
No Viewfinder.....well that ends my interest...I'd look like an amateur if I used one at a Wedding.?

@cronas2 Use an external view finder like the LCDVF. No problem.

If the screen is the standard 920000 pixels in resolution it will work with the standard LCDVF (4:3 aspect). All the best Tonis from LCDVF.
LCDVF 4 weeks ago
@LCDVF I use that now for my K-5, and plan on using it for the K-01 as well. There are two magnetic frames with it, so no problem :)

Stop trying to be different just to be different and have a K-01 in ALL black. The silver top makes no sense and has no function.

i also have some questions for Marc Newson
why kind of feel/individuality comes with this device?
what kind of philosophy did you follow to create this device ?
did hoya/pentax not allow you to inclulde a electronic viewfinder in it ?

I think he don't really understand what consumers want and it doesn't look like the camera for semi pro also :(

Looks great. Puts a smile on my face. I used to shoot Pentax 67 and 645 professionally. Would love to try this little box.
