Hey mate. Thank you so much!! I do have a question though..i've got Mac OS X installation DVD that came with my Macbook Pro. Could i use this one to install? Thanks!
I had a problema when i press enter the black screen starts with a lot of white letters right well the problem is when it get to a point that says appledecrypt: starting... and it staty there how do i fixed it?
i tryed to install osx retail but when i go to disk utility i can not find my drive! how ever i can find it when i add a external drive! do you know why i can not find my internal hard drive when i go to utility???
ok so i bought the mac OS X snow leopard v10.6.3 i tried it on my asus laptop and my i7 desktop from dell
desktop
core i7
ram 4 gb
disk 500 gb
on both the computers i get stuck where is says loading Darwin/x86 the spinning / appears then y stops and only _ starts blinking really fast anybody knows whats wrong
Yes you can install the customize options driver again after a fully installed Leopard or SL... How? Once installed, run the cd again in OS X and the cd will show on the desktop. double click it, a window will pop up asking you u want to install OS X again.. go below and you will have a folder called, 'extra' there you have an installer for those same custom drivers that where during the OS X setup! Hint.. uncheck all Printers, Languages if u don't speak other than English and Additional Fonts!
OK rookies... there's lots of bootloader and he seems to be using Boot-132 bootloarder.. The best and easiest boot loaders for retail Snow Leopard are Empire-EFI, Rebel EFI or my favorite and best 'Pirate EFI-X' bootloaders! These all work fine with Asus, Gigabyte and MSI mobos. If you have ATI or NVidia cards, use NVdarwin or ATIDarwin kext drivers, they are perfect after a perfect SL install... The Pre-installation on Pirate EFI-X is the easiest and best! These bootloaders r free.
You don't need a SATA DVD drive, a USB external slim drive will do just fine, actually USB external slim driver seem to have the power to force install almost anything on pc's or old ass pc's! You can download a pirate version, is the same exact copy as the retail except for the price! He says these so he won't get trouble for his video...
@evilofdarkness89 It's very possible it's a problem with IDE. There are a lot of reasons. It's impossible to diagnose it with such little information. Shoot a video of the screen or take pictures, and then post a detailed message on InsanelyMac's website.
I have AMD Turion(tm) X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-72 2.10 GHz
4.00GB of Ram, to be honest i dont know much of what that means, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to which bootloader disc would work, because if have tried 4 already and none have worked...thank you
@smeelokilo It depends on what boot loader you are using. I'm using Chameleon, the latest version. You'll have to look at those websites for details, depending on the specific boot loader. Chameleon I believe has an interface from inside Mac OS X to change the settings, such as the default OS, time to wait, etc. If not, try OSx86 Tools. It's not in development anymore, though.
i have installed mac os x on my toshiba satellite 2.56GHz 4gb ram and ATI graphics just when i started my pc to boot up and nothin happend when i choose mac os x on my D: whats wrong i used ideneb with my setups i also checked the DVD in a virtual mashine ? im sad :( sorry my english is like a bit cheese :D
hi fox, m using a asus P5N73-AM mother board, core 2 duo 2.8 ghz, 2gb ddr2 ram, sata dvd, i couldnt even find any mac distro to instal in my PC, is there is any way to do this..
im not sure if you can help me with this or not but ill give it a shot, im trying to put 10.6.1 on my eeePC a netbook, i have used the bootloader and then after it says loading darwin/x86 it does nothing. the prompt goes to the next line and just blinks, then after about 5 minutes the screen goes black and its like the system is dead. any suggestions?
I haven't encountered that type of problem. You may try searching for it on the Insanely Mac forums. If you can't find anything, make a post giving a detailed but but concise description of the problem. Including a legible picture of the screen just before the "blackout" would also be useful. When I post about trouble, I sometimes take a short video of the screen in the last moments before the trouble, and then post a link to that video. The more info people have, the more they can help you.
I have the same exact problem with the 10.6 install as you, just not the same computer. I get to the screen where darwin/x86 is loading then it does nothing.
Therein is your issue.. you're not using the same setup. You will have to tweak the bootloader and the kexts/etc. to match your hardware. Are you SURE that your hardware is compatible? A lot of people are trying to force OS X onto incompatible hardware and just stress themselves out and waste a lot of time.
@thejapanesechallenge I get that same problem and I checked and all of my hardware is compatible so how do I tweak the bootloader? Please respond fast!
I specifically made a shorter video called "Fox's Quick Hackintosh Tutorial," designed for people with more computer knowledge. Despite speaking very simply and trying to keep the terminology incredibly basic, there are still a lot of people that need additional help and coaching (evidenced by the abundance of questions about things that others may consider obvious).
That's how it is. I have to appeal to the majority who don't know computers as well as you or I.
Scratchy?..lol... love it.. i named my Hard drives too.. I got one named Wall-E, Tera and Mother brain (from metroid) Great Video.. i'm going to build a Hacintosh someday
"Scratchy" is my scratch disk :). For those that don't know, a scratch disk is not a damaged disk, it is a disk for storing media (video/audio/graphics) on for use in editing.
Couldn't you have shown people how to use Disk Utility? P.S I had a far easier time installing using an IDE DVD drive, It's slower yes but it means you don't need a hacked distro or motherboard specific boot loader disk.
As for the IDE drive issue, I don't think you understand what I was trying to say. Using or not using an IDE drive has *nothing* to do with hacked distros or retail installations. It's also not really slower.
dude i really need some help ive downloaded "boot 123" do i need to make the files into an iso. because i put all the loose files onto a cd hoping that it would work but it didnt.
First: how do i know wicht is the best boot loader?i am not good at these and i dont know good english.
Second: I have downloaded a boot loader and i have done everything but when at your pc at 2.00 secs the white screen with the gray apple in the middle appears and then at a few seconds it starts loading with a little spinning icon down of the apple mie doesnt do that it stucks and just stays in that situasion! plz help!
i thought this was a really interesting video because i've never seen this method be used before. just a few questions though-
you did NO patching to the leopard installer disc correct?
did u have to do ANY sort of bios tweaking?
thanx for the rest of the help. im pretty sure i will use your method because its one of the most thorough tutorials i've saw besides the guy from lifehacker. urs seems like the best plus u give troubleshooting advice!!
Yes, set MAXCPUID to disabled. That tends to cause crashing when running System Profiler. You may need to make adjustments to get sleep to work properly as well.
hello...i need help with this... after loading the bootloader and placing the OS X retail disc into the drive, it begins to load and then decides to reboot... a message appears on the screen shortly before saying "Attempting to determine CPU Multiplier. If system reboots, RDMSR 198h causes a fault.
Determined CPU:FSB multiplier to be 9
Measuring TSC frequency (e.g. CPU speed)
CPU runs at 2999.710800 MHz
BUS must therefore run at 333.301200 MHz". thanks in advance for any help...
ok, pleas reply, when i boot it up it works awsoe!! but when i got to install it trys andthan likke a little bit through it says cannot install with a big yellow ! please tell me how to fix this, and i know my computer can deffently run it.
if u watch the rest of the tutorial he will show u that it happened to him and will happen to most people. he shows u how to still run leopard though.
damn heck i used an ide cable and it works, now all i need is a usb keyboard and mouse got the mouse but no keyboard and can this run on a 7 pin keyboard
Hi, thank you for the videos! they are amazing. One question, what format must we format our hard drive as?? I got an old hard drive that i want to format to install OS x on it. Thanks mate.
When you install OS X, it will automatically format the drive as it needs to. If you're partitioning a drive prior to running the OS X install, you can leave the OS X install partition as FAT16/32 or NTFS.
I just bought a P5Q Pro recently. Had a little trouble with the onboard ethernet (AttansicL1eEthernet) and ultimately decided I didn't need a new motherboard after all, and returned it. Other than that, it seemed pretty nice, and the SATA ports are positioned so that a large graphics card won't block them (an amazingly common issue with logicboards nowadays).
That's awesome! Please share your hardware with us! And make a post on InsanelyMac with your hardware list telling everyone about your success :). Even if no one responds, people may catch your post via Google searches and be immensely helped by it.
Hey i had a question. i have a dell laptop and don't really want to buy and build my own hackintosh. Can i just get the bootloader and install leopard on my laptop?
I've heard a lot of people have good luck with USB wifi devices. I personally used a wireless card, and it was problematic at times. I'm currently using an ethernet cable and it's much more stable than wireless.
Q: if you download a VSTI like MASSIVE
do i need to download it for mac or windows to work in logic?
JKAYnl 8 months ago
@JKAYnl omg man, just kill yourself.....what a dumb question. Of course you need to get the MAC version to it. either in VSTi or AU.

Darwin/x86 boot v5.0.132_dfe_r146_chameleon_pre
8191MB memory
VESA c3.8 16MB (ATI ATOMBIOS)
Loading Darwin/x86
_
but it doesn't go any farther. The _ key just blinks.
Do you have any idea on what could be wrong?

And you said only use SATA but i'm using IDE is the the cause?
