Every one criticizing Shin Ichi Fukuda, should listen to his recordings of La Cathedral and Giuliani's Gran Ouverture. If you can then say his sound is bad, or his technique is bad, then there's something really wrong with you!
@minasgekos I say him play at GFA in San Francisco a few years back. One of the most natural players I've ever seen, wonderful phrasing, technically very clean. He's a great guitarist definitely, and I don't think a truly great guitarist can be overrated. To truly judge a guitarist one has to see them live, preferably several times. I was glad for the rare opportunity to see him and to be less than 20 feet away. His anticipatory movement from note to note was very impressive.
I am a classical guitarist and, unfortunately I must agree with those folks who critisize Shin Ichi's performance. Yes, it is a very difficult piece, as many by Barrios are, and the sound feels like it is a metal string guitar, but that's I think partly due to imperfect recording. But it may partly be also because his technique. Well, he did not do the best job here. Musicality is poor, the technique imperfect. Other than this, he is a good guitarist anyway. No need to condemn him. M.
This version got a lot of treble, that's why it sounds like steel guitar and let some dudes criticize about that. :)) Anyway, nobody can play better than John Williams

Is this a "Masterclass"?? Sorry but I can't see the Master and what I hear is lacking of correct technique and it seems that he uses a folk steel guitar. Please try to hear Barrios himself playing his music or for example David Russels.
Not joking at all and as you can see I am not the only one to think like that. Did you look at Deerse's comment on this same page for example? He is absolutely right: lack of technique and I add he's gor a terrible bad tone. Have a good day.

I agree.Furthermore it is not precise enough .The freedom in tempo ( rubato ) this player takes is not givin'in by a musical thought , but a result of a lack of technique ...It is an extreme difficult piece and actually I never heard it anyone play at William's level .Williams makes it sound natural in this case certainly .
Thanks for the response! You are a good teacher!

If you think that's a "folk string guitar," you probably shouldn't be critiquing classical guitar videos.
