Introspective, but lack authority. You're singing pretty, but not really connected to the inside. The lyrics can translate to your voice, if you think about them and don't just sing them. Forget the vibrato, and carry the words to the end.
Lots of possibilities. You just have to find yourself.
Amen, play exactly like you're doing. This is not American Idol, it's real music and real people. And there is no audience there, this is more like documentation of music not the Ed Sullivan show. I'm just pleasantly surprised how many of the best songs you know and how enjoyable this is. You are helping others greatly with your music and natural gift. You must have an amazing musical ear... Keep up the great work Christine. And do it precisely the way you feel!
Hey Christine, great rendition of this tune. They get constant rotation over here. Working on the Pile Driver Blues my fav by KJM but tough with one guitar :)
Nicely done. As someone who picked up this music -- and I keep trying to -- in the 1970s, it is really gratifying to see young folks keep this great music going. Great picking
If the Virgin Mary could have played the guitar, I would have imagined her like ya ! One day you'll reach the stars, baby ! This is just PERFECTION ! And you're so cute...
Is that what you do when you play the blues? You're not the first to ask for a smile, but this is the first time I'm gonna ask why someone expects someone to smile when they play a sad song. So, why?
My eyes are usually closed when I sing blues, and I'm too busy hearing the words and music to smile. In fact, the only time I smile when i sing the guitar is when I'm performing for my little toddler.
For what it's worth, I don't see "suicidal". I see a talented musician who "gets" the blues.
Don't bother about this ignorant, young and beautiful girl. His name shows he doesn't have a mere idea about what the blues is: "zeppelinhendrixrules", hahahah, my god. And he comes to tell you how to sing the blues?, while you are doing this beautiful version by true blues singers, as Minnie and McCoy ?
Another great one. The guitar part is excellent, as always, but your vocal really stands out here. You sing this with a nuanced mix of wistfulness and resignation that I don't really hear in the original, though it suits the lyrics perfectly and enhances the song immensely. A very impressive interpretation!
Actually all the great blues artists anchored at least the pinky if not two fingers to the guitar body to give a "solid" sound skip james john hurt bukka white r johnson leadbelly rev davis fred mcdowell to name a few. Its classically trained musicians that spread this bullshit lie about 2 things 1 you shouldn't use your thumb to form a bass note and 2 your comment. Iplaybanjo your covers are awesome well done. :-)
That was simply a Great rendition of Memphis Minnie's style! I'm really impressed!! It's great to see and hear a young person like yourself who has such a great feel for this genre' of music. BTW, I play blues guitar, so I know how tough it was to master the stuff you're doing! Here's a little tip I got from John Hurt himself back in 1969.Try doing his "Casey Jones" with three fingers in open G tuning. I think you'll really like what you hear. Your music is great! Please keep 'em coming!
You never fail to impress me. The finger picking on this is slick, and your voice is just perfect and beautiful. A five star rating is a no-brainer here.

Your playing sounds stiff and restricted-because you anchor your pinky-you sound prissy like a folk singer-not bluesy, loosen up and free your pinky.
