i got a pc with dual gtx460's and an overclocked i7 xtreme, built by myself. Its got a stock case and its got non-liquid coolers but its fucking fast. 1 tip about your system though: Install windows 7 x64. It makes a HUGE difference in speeds and startup is a lot faster.. It also performs smoother in games. 1 Question, whats ur psu?

1. I doubt you managed to push it to 5,4ghz while keeping it stable + letting it last for a long while on high cpu usage :P

Strange choice of parts... If i were you (who obviously has a budget of $5000+) i'd buy a fuckload of SSD's and a RAID card, and for an uber computer like that the cable management is pretty shithouse. You should have got one of those lian li extended full tower cases with heaps of room for extra rads instead of cobbling some random abomination together from an old case.

Very impressive. Nice bit of plumbing too. I was glad to see you chose the Asus Extreme MB. I just ordered one with an i7 920 for my next build so now thanks to you I chose well. This will have 2TB raid 10 500gig drives with 6gig G Skill 1600 Ripjaws.

Only the one video card but I haven't been able to decide on what yet. I'm trying to build a good workhorse for Avid editing not so much for gaming.

dude, no how many thermaltake radiators and blocks you put in, its still gonna be crap. at least you bought some coolance blocks, but you'll find that the radiators and pump will really be letting you down. Mounting the rads on the side was innovative, but I personally don't think it worked well, you wont get wirflow and it just makes the PC bulkier and ugly.

haha i fond it i have an 850W psu it was an 8pin and i must split it this is my first quad an my first computer that i builted on my own amd x4 965 3,4ghz the temperature is always the temperature of my room (scythe mugen 2, antec 1200 xD ) and if the 4 cores runing at 100% the tempeature is always cold and steady . dude i can´t use everest it wants some drivers but i don´t know what they are real temp says that it don´t supports amd x4 3,4ghz do you know a temp toll for amd ?

you know what would make that computer better an ultra320 scsi i have one and they are so much faster then sata satas work at about 150mb/s and have long seek times like i have a 500gb sata that has a 8ms seek time the scsi has a 2ms and can work at 320mb/s and does slow down after starting of moving a lage file (like satas) and scsis are ment to be reading/writeing 90% of the time satas are ment for 30% of the time thats why they fail so easy

I like what you have done but I am shocked you have overclocked the CPU especially being an i7 Extreme. That thing is asking to be overclocked. I wouldnt be surprised if you could get it to 4.5GHz. I've watercooled my i7 920 and the highest I've had it overclocked was 4.3GHz. Managed 4.5GHz but wasnt stable and its now sitting pretty on 4.0GHz. I urge you to overclock your CPU. Please. :)
