  • Mind if I ask what your snare settings were - this sounds fantastic compared to my td12 snare samples.

  • @g00nerz4eva

Dude, thx a lot! Well, unfortunately I have sold it already, because I am moving to South America. But I remember that there is a section within the head controls where you can control a lot of valuable settings according to the sound. As I like old Helmet recordings I simulated pretty much a piccolo, gave it a lot of resonance, a little hall, but only enough to make it flutter a bit and i am not too sure whether i changed the skins, I pretty much think that I did.

  • OTTIMO !!! Iscriviti pure sul mio canale complimenti

  • Uhhh, my Italian is that bad...but thanks anyway, dude! Thx for the comment!

  • i like the fills, but the song you play along to is kind of hard to follow. not really my taste. i like the swinging jazz more, like dave bruback's "take five".

  • yeah, i understand. actually i often compose such soundscapes to prevent myself from playing always the same...it works out quite well for me...i pay attention not to choose a special pattern when composing, i try not to bind the instruments to any signatures, too. Then i just start the pattern/ structure in Ableton und hit the rec button. I know that this sounds strange.

  • Nevertheless it's a great deal with exploring rhythms and techniques which I wouldn't have come across playing to conventional playalongs or "real songs" that I am working on. On the one hand this won't work for everyone, I am quite sure bout this, but on the other hand it would sound completely different if another one would try this out, I guess.

  • @MrMichaelSchwark:

indeed, if someone else would try this, he/she would roughly do the same, but give his/her own twist on it. for me, i simplify some rythems as my skills are no where near your's :-D but i do try different things. i just threw a lot of different songs on my mp3 player, and play totally different rythems. but, not every type of rythem goes just as well as the other.

just keep doing your thing, i like to listen to new and inspired things, even if i can't follow :-D

  • Yeah, you're right. I just do the same, collecting songs and trying different beats on them. The only disadvantage I sometimes see is that as soon as you have a song you have a fixed signature. sometimes i feel that signature itself is sort of a boundary to my mind when it comes "to let my hands go where they have not gone before".

  • that's why i put together such strange music without any signature at all - and then try to play to it. it is kind of a solution and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't :-).
