I gotta stick it in here - the TV show was good. It wasn't the books by a long shot but it's definately worth watching and a shame its cancelled. The unfortunate thing is they had to change the story around. That being said, my god would I prefer a film. I will say the TV show was pretty well cast right through though, Richard, Kahlan, Cara, Zed and Chase were all prefect.
I love them both (show and books), I don't compare them. I appreciate the show for portraying the characters correctly. In two short years, while they mucked up the plots (true plots from the books) time and time again, I always believed the characters. The fact that they made me believe that she was Kahlan and he was Richard, given that they are in my mind two of the most fascinating and compelling characters ever put into writing... is enough for me to call the show a success.
The TV show was just stupid. Soooo cheesy and badly written. Every interview and talk I've seen about the show, they always were mentioning the sexiness. Sword of Truth is not about sexy! And we've got enough sexy stuff to go around in showbiz. Sword of Truth is about heroism, not sexiness, and they totally missed that in the show.
The TV show is TERRIBLE though, I can't watch it. I have all the books in the series and I'm a really big fan, but the TV show does not represent them whatsoever. It's almost like it steals some ideas from the books but just does it's own thing. How pointless! I haven't been able to watch even one episode because it makes me so upset how wrong they get everything. His priority should have been an accurate representation, not just property rights and stuff.
@Reyendric yeah. the first book could so easily be adapted into an amazing movie. it would even fit into the whole "make these movies grittier" theme we got going on. frustrating...
But Mr. Goodkind, I have one question: is Richard a man of integrity?!?!

Ah, finally, proof positive that Sam Raimi has absolutely NO fucking taste!

He needs to make this into a motion picture. The TV Show ruins my outlook on how I portray the characthers.

@Reyendric indeed the show is a low budget piece of trash that is completely backwards of the story and has no depth of character.
