@chriseliotrumpet I don't really know much of anything about the french horn, let alone brass. Why do they do that, as a mute of sorts?

@smallgiraffe42 It's the only way to really control pitch and tone with a french horn, mainly due to the fact that it's such a small bore. You lip through partials then use your hand to fine tune your pitch.

yes its supposed to me. the french horn is a very difficult instrument to keep the right tone for a lot of arrangements. it kind of muffles it, but at the same time gives it a very sweet and enticing tone. its sounds really cool!

And just out of curiosity, how long ago did you contact Nintendo about the music? Just wondering for myself, as I'm also a musician (tuba!) and know how these things can be.

That being said, I fancy your arrangements a lot (and it'd save me the time of trying to transcribe them by ear!).

@chriseliotrumpet Haha very true but I have written like a 21-page score and this is the fist thing I have arranged and I can't figure it out...there are a couple of things just really bugging me that definitely need to be changed that I can't figure out. I'm talking with my band director on Monday to help. I just cant figure out whats going on in the background (besides tuba) at 5:59. I also can't decide what parts of the chord to give to the trumpets at mario world. Thanks for tolerating me!

@playlistmusic0 Actually, from 5:59, it's the horn playing a very difficult background in a boogie woogie style... Trombone finish this at 6:09, but otherwise, he plays the second voice theme with the trumpet.

I really encourage you to listen to the original music and try to pick it up from here, it's much easier with electronic clean sounds. And you can really make your own arrangement with your transitions, and what you decide. It will be a lot more valuating (but difficult though) for you ^^
