Too bad Jason didn't have Sam's back just like this during the SOS. Jason should have never turned on Sam, let alone tell her that he would kill her. This Jason wouldn't have done those things. Just like this Sam would have never had that weak moment and watched as Jake was kidnapped by a grieving mother.

Jason took the paternity test not Lucky, Jasons' DNA matched Jakes'. He is not written out of character, because he turned on Robin and Courtney because he felt that they betrayed him and he loved Robin most of all and he married Courtney. Jason does not like when he feels that people have betrayed him except for Sonnay and Carly.
no! Neither Jason nor Lucky had a paternity test done... the only paternity test done was by Liz and ONLY seen by her. Neither men should trust her after her lies...
and he's still not the Jason we know... the way he fought to be Michael's dad & then he gave up Jake & lets Lucky be his dad...
and Jason was the one that betrayed Sam by keeping the secret of him being the father, and that again is out of character... He should've been more upset with Liz for keeping Jake away from him.

They did not need Lucky's DNA because if Jason was found not to be a match then the father would be Lucky. Liz cannot have a DNA test done with a sample from someone. Lucky was in Rehab and Jason took a swap of his cheek and gave it to Dr.Lee Jason has lied like Liz did for Sonny and Carly. Jason lied about Micheal and about Sam's baby so it was in character.
Jason never lied about Sam's baby. She told Sam that she needed to tell Sonny about the baby point blank or he would, and when she didn't at first he put the pressure on her to do so. So you know what yes, this is completely out of character, because had it not been for Elizabitch nothing would have deterred him from telling Sam the truth!
