In this time, organist´s doesn´t play on grand organ in Notre Dame. Play only down on chorus organ. What the happend whit big organ in Notre Dame. Rebuilding now it?...or change new console?....Please coment....
I am sorry to say this after working on over 20 pipe organs in my life Cavaillé-Coll made there instruments so they would never half to be restored if they just left it alone it would of never had to have been worked on. Look and St.Sulpice it still has its original console and it will always have it. There's a quote "if its not broke don't fix it. Unfortunately they have completely destroyed the original sound of this wonderful pipe organ today it sounds like crap.
@1401JSC Justement c'est grâce à Pierre Cochereau que Louis Vierne est sorti du purgatoire, n'a t-il pas été l'un des premiers (sinon le premier)à enregistrer une de ses symphonies(la 2ème en 1955).Les concerts dominicaux qu'il institua et l'énorme travail de vulgarisation de la musique d'orgue (souvent hors de sa tribune)ont grandement contribué à faire de cette tribune un lieu prestigieux.
Sans vouloir porter atteinte à la réputation de PC, je voudrais signaler que Vierne a joué 1750 concerts en la Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-Paris! (Et je ne parle pas de l'œuvre de ses prédécesseurs). On n'attendait pas l'arrivée de PC pour faire de la tribune un lieu prestigieux.
Purgatoire? On n'a jamais cessé de jouer Vierne et autres Widor!

I understand the question, but the nowtime's symphonic sound comes from Cavaillé Coll. He nearly doubled the stops there.

Maybe your french language is very poor, I was just asking who is in charge to repare the instrument.
The instrument is much older than Cavaillé Coll, some parts of it are from the XIII century...
